On top of going back to the series’ 2D sidescrolling roots, The Lost Crown also radically reinvents and reinvigorates the franchise by adopting an intriguing structure, which proves to be one of its biggest strengths.
Combined with similarly excellent combat, platforming, exploration, visual design, and more, it comes out as nothing short of a staggering accomplishment. Not only is The Lost Crown one of the best platformer in recent memory, it’s also slated to be among the best games of 2024.

I like it too. But I’m going to be honest. The freedom we had in the magnificent 3d original was truly amazing and I miss that freedom here. I still find that 15+ year old game superior. I don’t like being restricted going left to right for this type of adventure. Fun. Good combat graphics, sound etc….But I wanted to open up that beautiful world I saw behind our beloved character.

Soon as I heard of this game, knowing nothing but what it looks like and it's gameplay, I knew I would like it. Also, couldn't resist it, since they game me the option. First playthrough... Immortal.

Good review! The demo has been a fun time. Can't wait to play the actual game. Hopefully we can get a new MetroidVania genre/title from this universe every few years or so moving forward and the support from us POP fans helps make the direction of the Remake and new 3D titles stellar. Ubisoft REALLY did terrific work on Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown! 🤙🏽

I personally really enjoyed it...loved the puzzles and platforming they laid out. The combact for me is a step up vs games like hollow knight and ori. It provides more combos and juggles along with great response. I definitely did get invested in the story as well. I dont everyone to like it like me but i will say if you like the prince of persia or a big fan of metriodvanias i would recommend this.

Very nice review. Thank you! I was pretty disappointed when I first heard what type of game this would be, since I really don't like Metroidvania type of games, especially all the backtracking and stuff. But well, I was curious so I finished the demo on both PC and PS5 and both times I didn't want to stop to play. Final result: I pre-ordered the game on PS5 and I really hope I'll like the full game as much as I liked the demo.

The first PoP was super hard to play. It had that hardcore Pitfall vibe like those other 2D platformers from back then in the 80s. I personally really started to get really invested when they got PoP 3D. Was pretty janky back in the days. But it did a good job.

@@eamk887 I was referring to the VGA DOS port of the Apple2 game that came out around 1990. Very simple combat: forward, backward, swing, parry. It was all about timing and simple tactics. But I loved it. The whole game really.

You can hit once then hold attack for a nice mix up. You can power attack. There is an amulet that lets you add more attacks to the string. There are combo air attacks and ground attacks. There are special moves.

And secondly, stories about remake are old, fans expected it, and all of the sudden they resign, but release this game instead. And it looks very different from Sands trilogy, and has very strange graphical style, hence disappointment.

Played the demo not really digging the combat. It seems like an average hack and slash game, not bad but not great either. Although i can say if you love your metroidvania type games then this one is for you.
