I think that King Frederik and Queen Mary should have a Coronation , and be annointed King and Queen in a religious ceremony at the National Cathedral in Copenhagen , where they married . No thanks, to a religious ceremony. The largest "denomination" in Denmark, is "non" - no religion. But I think the real reason, it is done this way, is the agreement, the king gave, when he handled over the main power of the country, to the government, a few hundred years ago.

The only automatically given the position as authoritative age are reached are the future King/Queen) have that position today. Since HRH Crown princess Mary have been actively holding the position, considered "holding the keys" to the Kingdom, it means she, amongst other things, have been briefed of governmental affairs and have signed Danish laws, made by the parliamentarian majority, into legal effect. The confidence and trust HRH Crown princess Mary thus have earned in Denmark, when remembering our history, could not be higher. Had we considered her as an empty person just sipping the free drinks while looking good, I can promise she would not ever have been close to the position she have created by own intelligence and grace here. Here even the most left and right politicians call themselves "non practising republicans" because you have to be blind not to see the positive effects our monarchy have for us as people and nation. A very recent survey showed 80% of Danes were pro monarchy but that 88% positively supported Frederik and Mary thus even opponents of monarchy rated them and their efforts positively! That truly are remarkable numbers in 2023/24 in a modern democratic nation in a fractioned world. I would be proud if a Dane were able to reach such result in another nation. The soon to be Queen will also be Queen of Greenland and Faroe Islands and one could hope she would be able to communicate some scientific facts about the effects climate change have not just in Australia but also for our Greenlandic familymembers in particular. As Mary have brought our two nations closer and we also have gotten deeper insight into Australia, we have come to love the Australian frankness while also being very sad and frustrated to see how the emission levels in Australia keeps climbing in a time where humanity´s existence and future predictably are on the line on this planet. I don't know if it is the same for women, but while i totally agree that King wasn't a fitting title for Henrik, I have no problems with Mary being Queen.

Actually wrong. Unlike the English, Denmark and their laws do not recognize/utilize the title-designation 'queen consort.' Her title will be Her Majesty, Queen Mary of Denmark just as her husband's title will be His Majesty, King Frederik the 10th of Denmark. He will be the recognized regent/head of state of Denmark and I am sure that she will continue to be an alternative regent (as she is now) available to serve as such in her husband's absence from the country. In other words, her title would be the same were she born to the throne as opposed to receiving the title as a result of her marriage to the Crown Prince. The designation of Queen Camilla as queen consort was approved by Queen Elizabeth II in 2022, and before that, she was to be named as 'princess consort' upon her husband's taking the throne. This way her title makes it clear who is boss I guess. Game playing by the British royals which is not surprising but still a little strange. (Even in the case of Prince Philip, he was named a Prince of England upon marriage and also named the Duke of Edinburgh before marriage, but he never carried the title 'prince consort.' BTW, including Camila, there have been only 8 Queens consort in UK history and only one official Prince Consort (Prince Albert.) I would bet that when William and Kate take the throne, her title will be HM Queen Catherine the 6th of England and there will be no designation of 'Queens consort' in her title. All other countries in Europe that have a King and Queen (Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Belgium and Spain) simply use the title HM Queen ___________and do not utilize/recognize this strange title 'queen consort.'

I was wondering if the Danish people would want a coronation, because they have as much beautiful ceremony and pomp as the UK. They have the oldest flag in the world and the oldest monarchy. I think that it would open eyes of the world. Like the UK. Even Japan had a magnificent ceremony a few years ago. Watched by millions.

@@mandysharp4571 I'm a Danish royalist, but I find the UK coronation a bit too much. The monarchy needs to follow with the times or it will die out. We haven't had a coronation since the constitution took effect in 1849 making Denmark a democracy and a constitutional monarchy.
