I believe we need to be very careful with finding our identity in enneagram personalities. I know it’s helpful to some degree but I find too many people make excuses because of their number. We conform to Christ, no our personality profile. ❤

I don't believe in them, I don't see anywhere in the bible that would justify using them. I almost stopped listening when I heard them talk about it but I do believe everyone has their own road and I am not the judge. Jesus is much kinder than me 🙏 ❤️ I take what works and leave what doesn't resignate with my spirit

I really appreciate your Vulnerability John and Lisa and I thank you guys so much for yielding yourselves to Jesus, I felt so moved by how much you both were willing to obey Jesus and surrender your marriage to him. A marriage will never work IF the husband cannot follow God's first instruction "to leave, cleave, ane be one" with his wife; otherwise, it's a divided house. That doesn't work.

What if my husband is not walking with God lately- he is down in life mad at God… I’m believing God walking with him- trusting God to restore our marriage- husband questioning his love - can this still work? Please pray for us!

*marriage is a contract based on Love and/in all its attributes. as the vow says through thick and thin. we had a default concept of marriage as blissful but right through the years we realize it's not always the case .. without Christ it is either very difficult or impossible to keep.* Praise The LORD Amen! 🙌

This video is such a blessing, but here is my thing. I would love someone to dress a marriage that you live w/a toxic person who is unwilling to get the help. I've been married for 37 yrs and my spouse starts off vaping first thing in the morning, comes home from work pulls in his garage and stays out there for an hr at least before he comes in to say hello w/a beer in his hand. Through out the evening he's getting high and drinking. The verbal and mental abuse is to much to handle at times. I've gone so much work within myself not to hold offense and just love. I feel like my spouse takes advantage of God's grace and mercy. My heart feels so closed off.

Unfortunately the evangelical Christian complex as I call it, will tell people in your position to endure in love and treat your spouse as you would Christ but which often times gives carte blanche to the one in the wrong. Forgetting the children who grew up in such toxic environment and then believe that its the way to behave or a accept the toxic behavior of others and unsurprisingly continuing the cycle of unhealthy relationship. As much as I believe in God's power, the human being remains free willed and you can't force God to change someone's free will ( if the spouse is unrepentant) . So seek help everywhere you can even if it means help outside of the Christian community.

@@vikumugisha1635 I finally found a book by Lisa Terkeurst about boundaries that really has helped me since I posted my comment. Another book is The Emotionally Destructive Marriage by Leslie Vernick. I came from an alcoholic family (dad) and was out on my own by 16. Swore I would never put myself there again nor my kids when I had them. And I was that statistic, I didn’t break that cycle 😩. I’m understanding we need to guard our heart at all cost. We can’t enable when we stay if they are unwilling to get the help they need.

My 3 siblings and I endured a home with an alcoholic father. To this day my mother is still with him, who has been mentally and physically abusive. I still think that she and us children would have been better off if she had take us and left. There are a lot of emotional scars and trauma as a result thatI have found that I brought into my own marriage.

I reckon with your testimony ma'am, I believe that if God can bless you with a successful Christ centered marriage inspite of your background then he is preparing a Godly man who will lead me right and point me to the creator of my life every step of the way and together we will raise Godly seeds that'll love and serve the Lord all the days of our lives together. When they say that leaving mariage is desacrating it's appaling. Men an women are being abused physically , mentally and sexually and are not seeking help in the fear of not desecration, or even when they seek help in church they are told they have to pray more and endure. Leaving an abusive spouse is not equal to loosing salvation. People are making mariage into an idol which is resulting in more broken mariage because they have to uphold the altar of the idol they created.

I've noticed that there isn't a television show that reflects Godly roles of husbands and wives. Even family programs such as Young Sheldon are backwards... the husband is weak, disrespected, and doesn't lead; the wife runs the show; and the kids see it. It's just pathetic.

Lisa Bevere (yup) teach about what it means to be dressed modestly as a Christian woman. That is badly lacking in the American Christian culture and church. I see women and young Christian women dressed provocatively in church and preaching as well. It’s wrong in front of God and it’s making men unnecessarily lustful. Too much looseness, everything goes in American churches, dress and look any way. I say this as someone who grew up in an Eastern European Evangelical Christian church where decency was also (not only) prioritized. By and large too many American church have become so diluted in all ways. Divorce flies and too many things fly in the American culture. By way, your husband has been to my country a few years ago. Do what is right. Being Americans you guys have a big influence even on other nations. Think about that. Of Italian ancestry : )).

I love your ministry, but goodness me what an awful translation of the scriptures! Some serious liberalities taken in this translation that is quoted multiple times.
