I would be in trouble if this test is like your first day at school. I would be sat in the cloakroom refusing to take off my coat and insisting I want to go home. lol.

It usually starts towards the end of each year....probably because it's not really available on any other streaming services other than the UK and any other countries that have the rights to show it! I watch it every. year. !!!

In my experience, the stem of a fresh, in-season artichoke can be quite tender and tasty. You may need to shave it down a bit but with so much of an artichoke inedible, I'm surprised they discount the stem out of hand.
@Lena-tl6yg
@Lena-tl6yg 8 ай бұрын
Yeah, there's a later test where Monica asks them to make artichokes barigule (spelling?) in which they are expected to use the stem and criticized if they discard it. Which is it? How do you get the test right? Someone needs to make up their mind.

Different preparation for different recipes. Doubtful the stems were put in the bin.

Frickin' runny egg yolks. Why is a runny yolk the only way? I've never been a fan. Sure, some ooze, but not just a warmed up yolk.......(don't come at me, it's just my preference!) xx

feelingpaulie3343 ...... runny eye yolks are so luxurious and shows skill in timing. Getting a runny egg yolk and a cooked white is such a difficult thing to do - dipping Marmite soldiers into hard boiled eggs is something not. to be cherished.

@@maryearll3359 Well, lucky I don't dip Marmite soldiers into any egg! If it would be any soldiers, it would be Vegemite soldiers, and I never said hard-boiled. Just to be clear! Thanks for your own opinion, just as I stated it was only my preference. Have a nice day.

Why does bacon rind matter on tiny pancetta? It's not going to be stringy and holds all the flavour

I seriously cannot be doing with people's hair flying around everywhere when preparing and cooking food. All chefs should wear hats, hair tied back and facial hair covered. Nail varnish is another no no.

Has to be asked, why had Monica gotten stuck at Sous Chef for 5 years and not looked to be a head chef elsewhere?
@cat09tails22
@cat09tails22 8 ай бұрын
Probably because they are 2 different jobs really, sous chef’s love cooking and the job too, head chef cooks a lot less and is more managerial in its nature, it’s often a step upwards that is a sign of the end of your cooking career in that you won’t go back on the line again, through choice.

Monica didn't start as a sous chef, she started as a commis. She rose to sous during those 5 years. Michel said a 1:50 she has been working for him for 5 years, not that she has been sous chef for 5 years.
