This old Pro Mac 700 had been laid up and out of service for a while, but with some general repairs and tuning she's making chips once again! These old macs are fun saw to run.
Also fired up the old Hack 10-10 to run it as a comparison between the two of them.

Now this is quality content.I have an old Pro Mac 55 that I picked up for $5 at a yard sale and went to work on it.All the parts were there except the bar and chain.I would have gotten a bigger one for it anyway.I've always had good luck with these ancient Mac chainsaws and this was no exception.I've been working the hell out of this thing for over 30 years now and if you maintain it right it purrs. No plastic fuel tank on this thing.Sweet.Bill Conwell

Always use a brush to clean the air filters, compressed air blows the filament out.

I always see folks asking "what are the carburetor settings?" and the important thing is as you demonstrated they are baselines- they need to be tweaked and adjusted as you did under load and when warm. And you are correct in that seal leaks will make them difficult to get to run consistently! Rock on...

A year ago, my local fire department threw one of these old pro mac 700 in the dumpster. I of course grabbed it. New fuel, and some carb tuning and it’s the best running saw I have. My go to every time because of its reliability and excellent power. Only difference is I don’t think mine has a muffler like yours. In fact, I don’t think it really has a muffler at all

Been wanting to get my hands on a 700. People are paying stupid money for them, in my opinion. I did grab a Mac 3-10 DSP recently to play around with.

nice work! i have old macs too and they are good saws like anything vintage built in the USA. A person needs to have a good ability with small 2 stroke engines though; beginners need not apply; keep it up!

Thanks! Yup, the older stuff was at least made with some intention of it being repairable, not like the plastic disposable stuff now...

I would take an early 90s or older model over any consumer grade saw (or any other gas appliance) being made today. It's all junk not designed to be serviced. Use it till the fuels lines or anything else fails and chuck her in the trash.

If u want some tips on that mac go to Tinmans saws channel. He does a build on one from start to finish. Impressive seeing it run I think a 32 or 36inch bar. Either way we now know how to clear the shop of any bugs! Just go way way heavy on erl! 👌mint!
