Hey guys! ✨As requested here is the video answering some of your questions about revolution blades! ⛸
This video took forever to get uploaded ,so sorry! I had to film it twice and the first video ended up being 20mins long 🙈
I hope you guys enjoy it! Please leave comments if you have any more questions. I intend to keep making these videos and keep getting information out there about all and any products. 🥰
Let me know what you would like to hear about next!! 🤩

.
Head over to @johnwilsonblades and @mkblades for more Rev blades inspo !!!

.
Keep in mind that the pros and cons to ANY product in skating is relative to you and your skating. It’s often your opinion of a boot or blade that make it feel “the best”. Don’t forget we are all different skaters and we all have our own unique techniques- and that’s the beauty of ice skating 💙

Hi! Thank you for a great video! Does the carbon fiber chassis make landing jumps easier on the skater's joints? I would be interested in hearing your take on this as it is not so much for the lightness but for the shock absorbing that I am interested in revolution blades. I currently skate in coro ace Lite.

Hi, You are very welcome thank you for the feedback! So to some minor degree the tops of a Rev blade is going to be slightly more shock absorbing than a metal base blade due to its properties but not as noticeable as opting for a boot with a shock absorbing sole built in. If you need more shock absorbing features from your skates I would have a look into either adding a shock absorbing insole to your current skates or going for a boot with a built in shock absorbing sole like the Jackson Fusion soles for example. It would also be interesting to look at your basic ankle position when landing a jump off ice to see weather your ankles and knees are inline or not as this will also contribute to the ability for your body to absorb shock on its own and maybe highlight the area that needs a little more support. I hope you find that helpful!

Hello do you know if John Wilson Gold Seal Blades Standard have changed since 1976? I have those blades and they are in good shape still.

Can the black staining be caused by blade sharpening too? I've seen a lot of sparks hitting the metal and maybe that's another reason for the black discolouration

Does anyone know whether I could get revolution blades for ice dance (shorter back) because I think the fact they are lightweight will really help with my spirals etc and i just really like the look of them but I'm an ice dancer and will need them with a shorter back so my footwork is cleaner. 😅

Hi, I am a beginner and I am looking to buy my fist pair of skates. I chose de boot edea chorus and the blade coronation ace. But I don’t if I should buy coronation ace or coronation ace lite. I really like CA lite design, but I am worry that this new design would make difficult to learn spins that need to hold the blade behind my head. Some could help please?

You did forget to mention that Gold Seal Revolution blades are basically impossible to be sharpened accurately. This because these all pretty decorative shapes, side honing and taper design. How do you mount these blades to your Prosharp and how do you ensure edges evenness?

Another con that should be mentioned is that many skate sharpeners cannot fit the Revolution blade in the holder for their sharpening machine. Before you decide to go with a Revolution blade, make sure you have identified a shop that can sharpen them for you.

1) I would never let a machine sharpen my blades. I only let an actual trained person sharpen my blades. 2) The companies that make the automated machines have an attachment jig to accommodate blades like these.

@@andreaelizabeth5494 1) Sorry if I offended you. I also would never let my blades be sharpened by automatic equipment, I'm not sure why you assumed I meant automatic equipment. My comment is not in any way meant to be a vote against Revolution blades, it's just something that I wish more skaters thought about when they were selecting blades. I am a skate sharpener with 16 years of experience sharpening figure skates. When a skate tech sharpens your blades, the blade is put into a carriage or holder of some type so the tech knows the blade is moving across the grinding wheel at the correct height so that you can end up with level edges. The standard carriage/holder for figure skates doesn't necessarily fit all blade types, particularly the Revolution. For example, in order to sharpen Revolution blades, I would have to buy a different carriage for my sharpening machine. This additional carriage costs $650. I don't work for a giant shop that serves a big metropolitan area, so it's really unrealistic to expect that I will ever see enough Revolution blades for this to come anywhere near breaking even. So my comment still stands--part of the decision about whether or not to buy a Revolution blade (or any other non-traditional blade) should include a discussion with your skate tech about whether you would be able to get the new blades sharpened by your regular tech or if you would have to take your skates elsewhere. If you have a good skate tech, you will want to be able to stick with that person, because unfortunately there are so many people out there butchering nice blades. A good quality blade with a poor sharpening is a serious disappointment. 2) The jigs exist for many machines (both manual and automatic), but it's not safe to assume that every skate tech has invested in every jig/carriage/holder. A lot of the techs that are really dedicated to precision sharpening are engineers or machinists that are doing some sharpening on the side just for the love of skating. They barely break even once the equipment costs are taken into account.

@@andreaelizabeth5494 1) If the machine does not sharpen you skates, does your trained person hand hone them? 2) Please tell us more about these automated machines and jigs which will ensure that you can sharpen Gold Seal Revolution blades properly. Links and examples would be appreciated.
