Purchased the one you can use with a drill, but haven't used it yet. Thank you for the video.

Thanks , I watched your video to see how the blades go in . I ended up making one out of a finishing nail. I cut a groove in the middle of the pin that I made, using a dremal . Works great and it's made of metal now. I think the original pin is plastic

That's great! Yes, the original is plastic. You had a great idea.

@@redneckreloader if you were to buy it on Lee's website ' it's only around 5 bucks plus shipping. This also includes a few other plastic parts that you don't need . It was fun making a better one.

Thanks @brigond I made the one today following your idea. A round nail cut down and the middle thinned with the dremel. Finished with a tiny round file. :) top tip.

Bought this and tried it last night and could not figure it out. Thanks for the video. I was WAY over thinking it. I am disappointed to see how frail it is. I bought it and the case specific die for 223, 308, 6.5 Creed, 7mm-08, 7mm Rem Mag & 300 HAM'r in prepartion, now it looks like it may have been a waste. I am going to give it a try and we will see how it holds up. Looked like it gave you a decent case even with the problems.

I have the drill version Lee trimmer. Problem I keep running into with .308s is that it bevels the outside edge of the case mouth way too much. I heard there is a way to adjust the tension, but didn't get an explanation. Any ideas?

Yes. Try taking out the outer blades. I've actually taking the blades amount of mine altogether. I just used it to trim to length, then I use my manual tool to chamfer and deburr. I find it gives a cleaner edge that way. You could try just leaving the inner blade which would just chamfer the inside of the case mouth. You may have to devour it manually, but it's worth a try.

Did you ever find the pin that broke. If you did, could you put the item number down. My pin is loose and I'm afraid I'm going to lose it. Would like to have some spares

Did you size first or after
@redneckreloader
@redneckreloader 2 жыл бұрын
I size first. My reasoning is that case length can grow or shrink from sizing. So I figure if I trim, then I size, the length will change and I won't know what the final length is

For the next time you can refer to this instructions: support.leeprecision.net/en/knowledgebase/article/replace-pin-inside-cutter-body-quick-trim But your video was helpful to me anyway. Could you please tell me if the pin is really made of plastic? I cannot find the pin as a replacement part on the manufacturers website. Only enclosed in the molded parts qt (leeprecision.com/molded-parts-qt.html). But I do not want all those parts since I just need the pin. Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you for the link to the knowledge base. That looks very helpful. I'm at work, when I get home I can try to find the part number. I made a follow up video to this called something like the lee quick trim revisited. In that one I confirm the pin is indeed plastic. I believe i show the actual invoice from Lee with the part number and price. If you want to see if you can find that video. I think I covered the info you are looking for in the first few minutes, so you don't have to watch the whole thing. God Bless

@redneckreloader 3 жыл бұрын
It's easy to do. You can use it to trim without the blades. You will just need to chamfer and deburr in a seperate step.

@@redneckreloader I may do that im messing with dreaded 5.7x28 brass.... this crap has to be perfect as possible

With this primer shortage I've been trimming 10mm brass down so I can use it for .40 s&w using large primers. I removed my blades and it actually does a better job of trimming them. The blades got dull and were chewing up the brass instead of chamfering it. Good luck.

problem I see is that once it is set it should trim all cases to the same length ,which it clearly is not doing , junk at best , wouldnt expect that from lee? also the retaining pin system is not very well thought ot , couls use a screw in there with a shouled and it wouldnt come apart till you took it apart

It trims different lengths if you don’t wipe the savings off of the case holder. Also every twenty five cases. Stop and blow out the die with a compressor. Make sure you’re blowing the right end. Don’t want oil in the end that holds the case. Blow mine into a cereal box.
