We know that molecules with one chiral center are necessarily chiral, and that molecules with multiple chiral centers are chiral unless there is some kind of special symmetry within the molecule. But did you know that there are even chiral molecules that have no chiral centers? How is this possible? You've gotta watch this to find out!

No chiral centers? More like "No need to check, this was the coolest of all videos!" I definitely did not expect to come across VR in one of these vids, but now that I did, it was truly awesome. Thanks so much for making (and sharing) this video!

how would you go about drawing stereoisomers for the allene, or other molecules with no chiral centers? Is it the same way despite 2^n (where n is number of chiral centers) not being applicable?

is chirality is possible in Ionic compounds? If no why?

@helmetongrass1893
@helmetongrass1893 Жыл бұрын
uhh...? do carbanions count as ionic? I mean I guess you could take a grignard's reagent with three different groups connected to the R group (other than the MgX) and when it is ionised, the carbanion would be chiral (if the carbon directly connected to the Mg was chiral) I guess? Idk for sure... I'm just a student
@helmetongrass1893
@helmetongrass1893 Жыл бұрын
@@aryanmalhotra3666 yeah but I guess you could say that organometallic compounds are more ionic than covalent, and I guess a possible example (disclaimer: I could be wrong, I am just a student, not an expert in organic chemistry) could be a Gringnard's reagent molecule with a chiral carbon directly connected to the MgX group and the carbanion obtained on ionizing it would be chiral too?

Professor i'm lil confused can you please explain why less acidic acids more stable than higher strength acids
@Eighty.3
@Eighty.3 4 жыл бұрын
Less acidic acids do not readily accept electrons or donate hydrogen atoms so it means that it is stable as it is, it is not willing to do any of these readily . Since stable molecules do not react with any other atoms that's why it is considered to be stable

@@ProfessorDaveExplains oh i did...quite a while ago though..and I confess ...with no science background...I didn't understand a lot of it. That's why I hoped you had a video all about just what chirality it is. I know it has to do with the shape of molecules and whether they have a mirror image...but just not much more understanding than that.. I'll go back and watch those debunks though. Thanks for your response. Guess I need the 101 course.
