This episode is a "holiday special". Took longer than usual and the pace is slower than usual.. I thought that this Christmas time would be perfect time to tackle the obvious disaster that was lurking inside the roof vent beam...

The process shown is far more challenging than it may appear. Not only is he hand replicating a complex shape, every dimension will echo downstream. Mainly with glass and trim install. This may well be his greatest opportunity for causing himself problems. Therefore, he has started this repair after much thought and planing. I have a feeling he nailed it! Silence is golden. He figured this problem out earlier while making a simpler repair.

Thanks for wise observations. With this car, the whole rear end is about planning the fixing order....Not easy to access is one thing, but overlapping structures are truly a challenge !!

I check in every few months and am blown away. I just gotta say, I'm 5 years into my low budget GT "restoration" summer project, and I've cut plenty of corners and bodged or ignored rust I was just too discouraged to bother fixing. This is both cathartic and anxiety spiking to me, to see all these "That looks fine, ignore it" sections that have basically powder and unanswered prayers of orphans holding them together once you expose it. I'm sure mine's nearly this bad, and I've put blinders on and said "it's probably fine". I pretend to have the excuse that I've filmed a couple hundred hours of footage and will be making videos of the process, and that's why it's taking me so long compared to everyone else, and here you are making videos (which slows you down by 500%) and having fantastic production value editing the videos (for me it takes about 1 hour of editing to make 1 minute of content), really using up all of my excuses doing both restoration and videos far better than me. I wonder if I'd have seen this before I began, if I would have been too intimidated to start, or if it would've been encouraging to see that someone else could do it and so could I. Thank you for everything you're sharing, this is really amazing content. World class.

Wow, thanks for the awesome comment. I'm sure that lot of the fixes could have been done in a bit less overkill manner, and it would have been just fine and last for the rest of the cars existence. But this is how I tend to do things. And to be honest, this is not anymore me making a restomod for me as a summer car, this has turned out to be a youtube project - "rustiest GT ever to be salvaged". I TRULY hope, that this channel is more of a inspiration and wake up call for the people who thinks the car they would like to fix is "too far gone" and scrap it. One can pretty much fix anything...If it is worth fixing. I am following couple of KZfaq channels where their project is way worse than mine. So there is always "someone who is dealing with bigger problems". I hope that I am this inspiration to someone else.. Thanks for follow !!

Quite simply amazing. We are all witnessing work of the highest standards and achievement. I don't know many professionals that either could or would have tackled that job any better. I tend to agree a little bit with the comments about the audio, but at the end of the day, it is what you feel comfortable with. There is a very good channel I watch, Classic 356 Expert, he is Hungarian and voices it in his native language with English subtitles, which is not ideal but you get used to it and it works OK. Anyway, just keep them coming in 2024, Happy New Year.

Thanks for the kind words. There area actually two reasons why no voice over. The audio from the videos are full of Finnish Death Metal so real time commenting is not possible or desirable😂. Weiter so!

Wish you a happy new year.

Wow, that part is one hell of a job. Never could i imagine that Opel did so complex structures on the GT. What a nightmare to restore when everything is rusty. Looks like you need to be in a very stoic mood to go through all these rust nests. Nevertheless i have to admit that meanwhile i pay more attention to your video editing skills than to the metal work routine which is on boss level anyway. Impressing how you more and more develop your very own way of story telling. I guess the careful choice of music has a lot to do with it. I also like how you are playing with different camera positions. And now you´re into video overlays. Brillant way to illustrate the issues. And yeah, that closeup splinter scene really stands out. Can´t wait for the next episode.

Thanks, I think you catched the atmosphere that I tried to capture with this last video. I have to say, that videos are a second point of view to this hobby. If I am fed up with metal work, I could always spend hours in editing . Both intrigues me...

It's wonderful to see how well it works with artisanal means, it seems that the motto of car manufacturers is "Make it pretty, but don't make it good and durable" All manufacturers lack the honesty to offer quality and precision in their work. Congratulations on your work, I completely agree with the statement at the beginning. Greetings and a happy new year.

Best wishes for 2024. Among the things I like most about your excellent videos is the way in which you make tasks that look almost impossible practicable by breaking the processes down into manageable units. I don't mean to suggest for a moment that it makes them easy, just that it makes them possible if you have the skill and patience to undertake them in a planned way. Thank you once again.

This is a great channel! Fantastic metalworking skills and great videography. I particularly like the subtitles rather than a voiceover. I'm sure language has something to do with it. It all works well together and the end result is a delight. I'm not a car guy, but I gravitate to sites that build and renovate. This is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.
