What's it like living in Australia? Well, for starters, it's a GIANT Island Continent surrounded by the Indian and Pacific Ocean, and also one of the Top 10 BEST countries to live in the World! A big reason for that is the stunning nature. From Bondi Beach to Uluru to the Great Barrier Reef to Surfer's Paradise to Kakadu National Park and Tasmania, the 6th largest country is beautiful and features tons of unique wildlife such as kangaroos, koalas, emus, echidna, platypus, and wombats!
Now while there are some similarities to the United States of America, there are also a LOT of differences, so hopefully my list of pros and cons will help you to understand a little more about the lifestyle here as an Indian expat! If The Land Down Under is one of the safest and happiest countries in the world with some of the best cities to live in the World such as Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast, Cairns, and Canberra, then why shouldn't you live in Australia?

The Perth lifestyle is going to the beach and river. Picnics outside. It is sunny and hot for half the year. If in Perth I think its good to embrace the outside lifestyle. A lot of Asians in Australia instead do a lot of study and for recreation go shopping. Certainly, that's commonplace for new immigrants but its not really the common Australian way. For youngsters there are massive benefits from living an active lifestyle with sport, swimming and being in a team. That helps with confidence and fitting in at work and school. Swimming lessons are really important for parents and their kids. The assumption is that everyone can swim well.

It’s the quietest place I ever went to, it didn’t feel like you were in a city, even the compact town centre shopping area was very quiet in the evenings. I loved it, really laid back relaxed place with a slow pace of life. I would love to retire away over there later. Compared to living in a fast paced high rise city like Singapore or Hong Kong, it’s night and day.

Great content and very relatable! Perth is for people who love a slow and stable life. I have moved from Sydney to Perth and we will never trade it off with our life in Sydney.

Perth is clean and has well maintained gardens with bins etc. But the first scene at 1:30 isn't actually Perth.

Perth people like sport. So its a good idea to find a sport be it cricket, soccer, tennis, basketball, hockey etc. badminton is less common but played more by Asian immigrants. Watching is sport is good to connect with Australians in the office. So you have the Eagles and Dockers playing Australian rules football (AFL) every week in winter months (for about 23 weeks). AFL football is really the most popular sport in Perth and going to the matches in the stadium is worthwhile. Also Perth Wildcats for basketball is very popular. Netball (West Coast Fever) and Soccer (Perth Glory) and Rugby (Western Force) get a lot less crowds.

Outdoor stuff is really important as she says. I think its good for kids and will give them the tools of confidence, coordination and social to mix well in the work place. Some Indians and Chinese get their kids to do a huge amount of tutoring at the expense of life experiences and being part of a team. I think that unless you're really wanting the child to do medicine, then you don't need to do that. There are lots of opportunities to do different university courses. If you miss out on what you prefer then there are opportunities to move about at university. Remember uni is only step 1 of getting good jobs and being promoted. Ultimately its about getting on with people socially and knowing how to be part of a team. That is what will lead to promotions. So in Australia I think its important to develop the skills that are valued by Australians (and probably in many workplaces in the world too).

Swimming is very important. So take lessons for parents and kids to be really good. The assumption is that everyone is good and you leave yourself open to risk of drowing. Experience in beach is good for that reason too. To know about waves and to avoid getting sucked out in rips etc. Just some exposure for kids and people at safe beaches help them understand the power of the ocean. My advice.

I agree to the most what have been said. It’s extremely isolated and dark place and you will feel damn lonely. It’s the place spreads kilometres therefore no matter how big Indian community is , you will never see them unless there is a community event and you will hardly find any Indian as your neighbour. That’s is the main reason I am hesitant to move to Australia from Ireland. The only drawback living in Ireland is the cold weather for three months.

Hii, thanks for the video. Can you tell me how's Perth for international students in terms of accommodation and part time jobs. Im really confused about selecting between Perth and Melbourne cause i have heard Perth has very less part time opportunities.

I would say, look at the future job perspective and then decide. What masters are you planning to do, which city has more of such opportunities. An example could be - Perths good for mechanical engineers, civil engineers and other core fields, whereas Melbourne is better for IT, CS and Consulting careers!

I'm really sorry,I have to disagree on one point..I moved from NSW to WA,Perth recently.. Perth is more rural and people are not much friendly as compared to NSW... NSW is having more cultural diversity people are very forward in approach n mannerism,Its more warm and welcoming, it's very common to just look at a random stranger and have a chit chat about random stuffs... They wish you good morning and gooday just randomly with a huge smile, which is enough to put a smile the whole day.. In Perth,Some people do..that's it but generally you don't see that. But Perth has a long way to go in cultural interaction and acceptance.

That’s a new perspective, maybe you are right. I haven’t lived in NSW, so can’t really comment on that. With more people moving here from the East, I think we are getting there, maybe in another few years you might have a different view about the cultural interaction and acceptance. Let’s hope we get there soon! ☺️ Nevertheless from what I have seen before, I have experienced warm, welcoming, and amazing people out here!

I would say both has its own pros and cons. If I am a student I would try to look at the job opportunities, and that varies depending on the field that we are in. For example- Perth is better for core engineering fields and Melbourne is better for IT and consulting. But, apart from this there are a lot of other factors as well, so pick up a city that suits your needs.

Clothes, shoes and everything else is a bit pricier. You’ll see limited designs as well. Beauty salons pricier, and you need to book appointments. Sometimes you don’t get for the next 2 weeks. I’ll include this in my coming videos.

Hello Narendhar, Based on the location and size of the flat it varies - within the CBD are you'll need $600-$850 a week. As you move away, you'll find more affordable homes. Depending on your salary you'll have taxes - $0 - $18,200: 0% tax $18,201 - $45,000: 19% tax $45,001 - $120,000: 32.5% tax $120,001 - $180,000: 37% tax $180,001 and over: 45% tax

You’ll see Indians everywhere, but if I have to pick a few they would be Piara waters, Harrisdale and Canning vale, these are all Southern suburbs, I’m not quite sure about the Northern suburbs.

It depends on what category you are applying to. There are standard processes for each category. You may do your research about the available options.

@@sabrinamohammed1470 As you move away from the city it’s gonna cost you less, or if you are lucky you might find a reasonable deal in or near the city as well. It’s pretty subjective to what are you looking for. Suburbs with good schools would cost you more.

Yes! Nurses are in demand all the time. Country has a growing population and of course they need good and capable doctors and nurses. ☺️

Thank you! You may try applying on LinkedIn and Seek. You’ll get a call if your tech stack is unique, and the position is not getting filled locally. I got a job like that. I wouldn’t say it’s easy to get that way, because mostly companies prefer people who are already here, but you can try for sure. Research about the visas which lets you stay here and look for jobs. If you apply from here, you’re more likely to get.

@@athulyanair Thanks for this, do make a video on IT jobs as well since its where most of the indians would apply for. Also i did check for the visa and 189 seems to be the one for work, even though not sure if visitor visa would allow me to stay for a longer period and apply

@@AkshayShinde96 you don’t get work permit with visitor visa. 🥲I wasn’t talking about visitor visa actually, there are special visas which lets you stay in for a limited period (18 months) and look for jobs. If you have graduated from certain colleges you get them. You’ll have to research more. Few of my college mates have done like so!
