The 6 Star also has Beta-Alanine and creatine. It is also very cheap for what you get. The Balm Pop flavor taste great. For the servings you get and price point you can not beat it. No it's not the BEST but it's cheap, great tasting, and I like it. I have tried others and most are nothing special. Plus I can add to it other things if I so choose. Like more creatine, cit, and ammino acids.

The incomplete protein concept has long since been debunked. That’s just something people throw around to promote the status quo I guess bc ppl love animal products and don’t want to accept an alternative is just as good (and better health wise). Which makes little sense to me it’s not as if you’re gonna stop using animal products if that’s what you enjoy. Low amino acid numbers only matter when you either aren’t consuming a lot of food, after you’ve consumed so much you’ll have met the daily requirement of that amino acid. And it doesn’t even have to be consumed within the same time frame, just has to be within the same day. This is totally ignoring the fact we’re eating a variety of foods which make up for the amino acids each other are lower in. Studies that get stuff like 40% more digestibility from animal protein are ones measuring what happens when you have 1 serving of food. Idk what the name of the study was but there’s a recent one where they measured a practical amount and found eggs or milk at 89%, plant 91%, and eggs or milk at 95% digestibility. Implying if you’re going for a specific number you might have to add a little bit extra grams to hit no matter what you’re eating

a little trick i learned is to take the amount of protein per serving and divide it by the serving size. if it comes out to the 70% and up mark then that's apparently a very decent ratio and you're not needing to use a huge amount to reach the amount of protein stated; and you're not wasting money.

There is liquid egg whites people can buy for convenience if they don't like busting open raw eggs. Trying to sift through all the protein powders is daunting, this helped a great deal. I was getting the dymatize (french vanilla) at Sam's Club for 40 dollars (80 oz) which is quite a good deal, but it was disappointing to find out about the acesulfame potassium which was important enough that Thomas specifically called it out as concerning (spikes insulin). So that has me shopping again, but wtf, the isopure is twice the cost for less product. Amazon won't let you sort by price per ounce, but they do list it, which helps. I don't know why anyone even considers anything more than a 1.50 per ounce product if they are leaning heavily on the whey protein to hit their daily total protein goal (assuming ~1 gram per pound of body weight). I am not a foodie nor have the time to make all the high protein meals I need each day, I have to make the shakes. Dymatize was, by far, the best deal assuming you buy it at Sam's Club (.50 an ounce). I guess I'll have to live with the acesulfame potassium. It should be noted that Amazon prices for Dymatize is substantially higher that what they sell it for in the store so maybe that is also the case for buying at Walmart too. Edit:. I was wrong. The dymatize I get from sam's is only 58 oz, not 80.

@n4gmadam
@n4gmadam 2 жыл бұрын
Acesulfame potassium will NOT spike your insulin whatsoever, UNLESS, there is already glucose present in your body, which I'd assume you're cutting off since you seem to be concerned about insulin to begin with. The entire point of AceK is to be a substitute to glucose that can be used without the fear of insulin rising. You have most likely been ingesting AceK for your entire life seeing as it's very often used in everyday products including dairy just as an example. It's been put through numerous tests for years and it's been deemed safe for god knows how long, however just like everything else in life, it should be taken in moderation. One of the few negative studies of AceK is one from the 1970s when it was still new on a few RATS, so... yeah. You're fine man.

Can we get your opinion on garden of life protein? It’s another plant based one sold at Walmart but for some reason they hide it away in another section in the pharmacy. Was hoping it was included in this video but I totally understand why you missed it.

As someone who’s lactose intolerant, Muscle Milk makes the most sense to me mainly cause it has all the milk proteins without milk. The savings difference between it and IsoPure and all the rest is negligible. + I don’t use protein shakes that often so I won’t care about the high calories.

I really appreciate these types of videos! They are so helpful. I’m clean Keto and have read that Sucralose is fine. Can you please tell us why you don’t approve? I’m not arguing, I’m asking for education :) I don’t want to sabotage my clean WOE. Also, if you could, when you cover several items can you either put up your ‘Thomas approved’ picture on all items you approve or set them up together at the end of the video? I hope that’s not asking too much, but when you cover a wide variety of products I appreciate it so much, but sometimes it’s hard to remember which ones you approved. Thank you for everything you do :)

Also could you do a video or a series for teenagers who are athletes and work out? I have two teenage daughters, one is a competitive cheerleader and the other is in ROTC and weightlifting at school. I think you would be the perfect person to put out videos for teenagers/parents and educate us on what is good for kids and maybe do some videos teaching them how to work out without hurting themselves, and what supplements (if any) are safe for kids who are still growing. It would be great to get some advice/tips/direction from you. Thank you!

Hey There - I wanted to give you a heads up about having teenagers involved in sports/working out at school. I raised my 2 sons and when they started getting involved with sports one of them was offered “supplements” by a coach. He didn’t take them and he told me the same day it happened. Of course I immediately went to the school to speak with the principal. Turns out that they weren’t steroids which was what came to my mind when my son told me about it. It was creatine and some other over the counter stuff like in this video. My point is be aware that there are coaches and others that might offer things to your daughters. I’m just glad that my son knew he could talk to me about anything. Stay vigilant and safe Cheers

@@prepperjonpnw6482 Granted I get what you're saying, and whilst I no longer take creatine since I had zero response to it, it isn't necessarily harmful per se. Though why the coach didn't first talk about nutrition baffles me, but creatine can be helpful for certain individuals when training heavily. But obviously the guy should have spoken to their parents first before a teenager.

I’m glad this video is out here. Very informative and overall good content. Ill say the 2 ingredient Isopure definitely sounds good with only 2 ingredients- but the link in the description and support for the channel makes me wonder about the product in general. I’m assuming this guy is knowledgeable and reputable but this is my first experience with this channel. Any comments about the validity of Isopure?

What are your thoughts on the core power protein drinks? They typically sold in the grocery drink section of Walmart not protein and supplements.
@JacobHatesRunning
@JacobHatesRunning 2 жыл бұрын
I love core power drinks but if you go by Tom’s standards it contains Acesulfame potassium or Ace k and Sucralose which are no good, especially if fasting or doing Keto because they spike insulin. Ace k is the bigger problem with insulin spikes but studies show that Sucralose destroys your good gut bacteria. At least that’s what he says in his energy drink video.

Optimum nutrition is not #1 in the world , Amazon helps the company get ranked high cuz Amazon can make a lot of money . It’s not high in protein . always check the nutritional information per 100 g not per serving . Check this one AppliedNutriotion ISO-XP whey protein isolate. Per 100 g --> 93.5 g of protein . 100% from grass-fed cows .
