These engines also powered the Saunders-Roe SR.N4, the largest civil hovercraft ever built, only outclassed by the Russian Zubr-class landing craft.

I spent some time in 1961/62 in lynton and lynmouth. Uncle Bill worked for the electric construction company and was installing the generator at Lynton. I was with mum who was keeping Aunty Connie company (mum and dads friends not a real aunty). We stayed in a caravan at a site in the valley of the rocks no planning issues then. I remember Bill tickling trout at waters meet then they had to be quickly cooked and eaten to get rid of the evidence.

These should be dotted all over the UK, could be made to run on hydrogen gas. Love the very English queen's speech narration.

There are many gas turbine "peaking" generators around the UK and elsewhere, they are not cheap to run in comparison to regular power stations so they are only used when necessary.
