As a promise this my journey from the cooking competition "Gino Cerca Chef" on Italian Tv with English subtitle. The video contains some video highlights from the contest.This was a great experience indeed, first of all because it was my first time and I was the only Filipino inside the competition, from thousands of both pro and amateur chefs that signed up and gave their best in the competition. The show was hosted by Chef and restaurateur Gino D'acampo and Fred Siriex.
The show was about traditional Italian cuisine, you might want to have a wide knowledge about Italian cuisine in order to make it inside the competition. Luckily I live and work here in Sicily as a chef, my experiences in the kitchen helped me a lot during the competition. The grand prize of the competition was a three year contract to one of the restaurants of Gino D'acampo in UK. He needed only six chefs, It was not an easy competition as many of the contestants are high caliber chefs and aside from that who would imagine a Filipino would win a traditional Italian cooking competition?
From the interviews and a lot of cooking trials from different places in Italy, there were only 56 participants left, from fifty six they divided us into six batches that means each episode has nine chefs that will compete. From the start I kept on telling myself, I will do my best, and see how it goes. I want to win and have this life changing opportunity! In life nothing is impossible, just believe in yourself!
