I just had a pseudo-relapse. Have you ever had one?

Your body was probably fighting off something. This happens to me whenever my body is fighting off a cold or flu etc. Even though I’ve had HSCT and my MS has not progressed in almost 11 years, 3 years after I had the stem cell transplant, I caught a cold, similar to what you describe in this video, the same thing happened to me! I fell twice and couldn’t even crawl to the bathroom (so I could pee!) My wife eventually got me onto our bed and gave me a bucket… The next day I was fine. The Doctor explained it to me… A cold or flu can actually be deadly if the immune system doesn’t fight it off. The body doesn’t consider MS as deadly… just an inconvenience. The brain tells the immune system to fight the cold or flu as it considers that a dangerous immediate threat to the body, so all the resources it can muster up, go to fight the immediate threat first (this includes those resources fighting your MS. As the cold or flu goes away (is being defeated), those resources in your body go back to fighting whatever it was before! I hope this eases your mind about what was happening!

OMG Lauren! So good to see you again! As I just read in another comment, something may have triggered you immune system and it was fighting it off. So glad you're pretty much OK now. I HOPE you're fully vaccinated, there's nothing to be afraid of. I always get the sniffles this time of year too, and every year my MS seems to act up in the summer over 4th of July weekend.

Hey Joe!! Yes, Marc had such a helpful explanation! Thank you so much, I'm better now! I am vaccinated...I just have to wait a few months to get my booster. I always get the eniffles! I've had summer colds before, but always on the 4th of July, huh? Interesting. I hope you're doing well!!

Happy New Year Lauren, so glad your relapse was only a momentary . In my experiences with these sorts of relapses , mine are usually caused by excessive exercise . Loosing weight has been a big focus for me these past Covid years and I have been very successful with a total weight loss so far of over 70 pounds which brings me to a happy 151 🥳🎊🎈🥰 . However when I push myself to hard I start to looses sensation in various pasts of my body , the latest was my left calf muscle (weird right ?) . I’m very aware of my MS behaving oddly when I work to hard so I knew it was time to ease up on my exercise a bit and soon after the feeling returned. Such an odd disease 🤪 ! Love and continued health Lauren 😘 ‼️

The National MS Society reported vitamin D supplementation reduced MS exasperations however high doses caused an increase in MS. Many assume high D synthesis by sun light, like 40k IU, makes it okay to take high vitamin D doses but the body automatically down regulates the light synthesized D. It's best to have D levels measured under the care of your MD.

Hi Lauren, I'm so sorry to hear that that happened to you. Unfortunately it happens to me all the time. I've taking medications that I've actually cause temporary paralysis. That is a very scary feeling! I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. I feel like I'm a prisoner in my own body sometimes. I have progressive MS I think it's secondary but not quite for sure. I feel like that everyday I can't walk I'm wheelchair-bound. So I totally understand not having any control over your body. Best wishes for a speedy recovery for you. Take care!

Thanks for the well wishes, Lauren. Some advice I have come to learn, is to stay calm this too shall pass. I noticed the more upset I would get the longer it seemed to last. Yes it is very frustrating...I have learned to try to stay calm. It's really hard to do. Taking a nap seemed to work for you as well as it could. It's weird how one moment you experience paralysis and then a few hours later we can move again. So frustrating! Best of luck to you on your MS journey. Take it one day at a time.😌

Yes❣️ 🥺 I had it from a uti & it was the worst!!! The uti had become urosepsis. If it weren’t for my husband I am certain I wouldn’t be here now without his help. He called 911, picked me up & got me to the restroom etc. I was in hospital getting IV antibiotics for several days & felt better than I had in a long time after getting the IV abx!!! I hope you continue to improve❣️

Hi Lauren. I posted a comment yesterday or this morning I can’t remember which, and either it’s in arbitration with KZfaq for release or it was deleted. I think it’s because I mentioned C.vid and Ocrevus together in a sentence. Anyway. I’m so glad you’re feeling better, and I can’t imagine how scary your pseudo-relapse was. For both you and your mom! I was wondering, and you are under no pressure to answer, but I’m wondering if you tested for C.vid. A cold doesn’t seem to be a cold anymore. I’m not asking to be all in your business, but I’m on Ocrevus too. I haven’t really seen any studies yet about Ocrevus and C.vid and I’m wondering if you thought that was a possibility. Again I’m so glad you’re doing better even though you have a little tiny scratch throat. I have to say you look great! Your cheekbones really pop in this video. I’m super jealous! Take care and stay well! ❤️ Nicki Oh! And happy birthday! Edited for grammar.

Hey Nicki! I was having difficulty with the first video that I posted. Thanks for your comment! It was very scary. I did think that I could potentially have Covid, that's why I was crying. I haven't been tested. After my nap, felt a lot better. I think it was just my body fighting off a cold. Thank you for saying that I look great! Oh my gosh, don't feel jealous about my cheekbones! My brother and I both got our Mom's cheekbones - but thanks for saying that! I hope you are doing well!! Thanks for the birthday wishes, too!! Happy 2022!!

Hi Lauren, I have been watching you're videos for the past 10 years or so, happy new year. Very similar thing happened to me I had a infection and it put me on my back all ms Symptoms had returned I was shaking all over the place on top of that I was taking modafinil to do my work which made things even worse as it can cause shakes as a side effect so than my legs shaked nearly the whole night. This looked to my family member as stating perhaps things are not going so well with my ms however I just had an infection. I live alone so it was so difficult to deal with I was writting my own story every day of how I Was feelng and what was causing more issues such as when taking the modafinil dose to push my self out of bed to do some emails / work. Was quite scary I still havent completely repaired from the cold but its alot better and my ms has calmed down nearly to its original you would understand that it can take some time to cool off. The whole of christmas and newyear I spent alone in my flat by myself dealing with all of this some experience. I also got some balls to post a video online to let the world know what I was dealing with as it was very very difficult at that time though im not confident enough and I think it was marked as a private video never went anywhere far. I was litrally crying my eyes out kept taking modafinil and coffee to do my work as I had payments to make in lockdown state here in the UK. You helped me alot to get on tysabri through you're videos thanks, Im now thinking or ocrelezumab change.
