I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Lyle is the best in the business at designing, populating, building an amplifier.

Very nice board design. I'm using these poliester film caps on my amp build too, and now that i saw that you're using, i feel that i did a good choice. Thanks!

I gutted a Fender Blues Junior and installed a turret board. Nice solid little amp now. I also built a Mojotone kit and substituted a turret board in place of the supplied eyelet board. I like their rigidity and being offset from the chassis. I never considered voltage rating on a resistor but it makes sense for plate resistors.

I would love to have this done to my '65 Deluxe Reverb reissue. Mine has an awesome special run cabinet that I will never get rid of. I'd just like to get the amp as reliable as the cab is beautiful.

A magnet or two stuck to the chassis, in inside and one outside, positioned near each hole in turn, will catch most of the swarf so that you don't have metal chips all over the work area.

No brass backing plate for the jacks and pots? Is it really necessary? The chassis being steel instead of al-u-minimum, is it required? Did the original 68 have such plate? I find ALL of your videos informative and inspiring. I noticed the domed solder on the the turrets, you are now famous for. Good show, old man! Love from NW Colorado. Thanxz
@PsionicAudio2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! No brass panel - certainly not present on the '65/'68 RIs. The originals had it because it's easier to solder to than the steel chassis. I'll be using screw/nut/ground lugs on this. Stay tuned.

For the difference of fender of old and fender nowadays the stuff just looks so cheap where my old 63 band master still runs great but all I ever have to do is change the plate resistor every 10 years or so in the filter caps
@bradfordlester172 жыл бұрын
Lyle, thank you for the great videos. I have a few questions: 1. So you are not using the cap can, does this reduce noise by putting the filter caps on the main board? 2. Will you keep the '68 Custom feature of Reverb and Trem on both channels? If so, how do you reduce the noise? 3. On my 65 DRRI you changed the normal channel to a Super Reverb tone stack, is that the plan here? 4. Is the Mid pot on the back panel an option on your build? 5. Can you reuse all of the transformers? 6. Will you reuse the reverb jacks or relocate them to the rear panel?
@PsionicAudio2 жыл бұрын
Spoilers! 1) Yes, a little (bigger improvement on higher gain amps), but it also makes service easier. 2) Yes. And you'll see. 3) Yup. 4) Yup. 5) Yup. 6) Rear panel.

With the new board and new jacks, can you reuse the reverb tank as well? Thank You, this is an amazing project to follow.

@blackstratblues2 жыл бұрын
What's the new one gonna be?
@PsionicAudio2 жыл бұрын
@@blackstratblues old one is the Rode Smartlav+. Incoming is the Shure MVL. I'm not expecting any lav mic to be as good as my Beta 87, let alone a large diaphragm condenser. But the Rode has a big bump around 300Hz and a very muted high end. Sounds boxy, requires way too much processing.

Love your videos 😁 Between a Vox ac30h2 50th anniversary and a vintage 1970 Vox with bulldogs what would you choose? Is it neccesary to change the transformers in anniversary to make it sound good? Best regards Ronnie Holm
@PsionicAudio2 жыл бұрын
I haven't had the anniversary model on my bench, so no opinion on that, though I think it has the same transformers the HW series does, which are ok. The OT isn't the best, but it isn't a huge tonal bottleneck. The '70 in good condition would be a very good amp, though not as ruggedly built as the new one. In that price range, play before buying. Trust your ears.
