Some thoughts on possible underlying messages in this mv: As you noticed this mv ties in with Daechwita. In both mv’s the same style car brought an alternative version of the main artist of the song. In Daechwita it is black haired agust d/suga, which ultimately killed the king/tyrant agust d. For That That it brings Gangnam Style Psy (the blue outfit), which black haired agust d/suga ends up killing as well. Both of the personas that were killed were the ones that overshadowed the actual artist. I found it interesting that new psy didn’t fight Gangnam Style Psy, but agust d/suga that did it for him. Then I remembered that Psy recently said that people in the west only new him for Gangnam Style, some even thinking his name was Gangnam Style (suga raps his, Min Yoongi, and Psy’s, Park Jaesang, real names during his verse). The west had seen him more of a spectacle rather than an artist. I think that he had agust d/suga do it because BTS is becoming a household name in the west and helping have more people see him/kpop as artists/people rather than just a spectacle. So suga kills Gangnam Style to give Psy a ‘rebirth’ as an artist in a way in the west (he has had a long and successful career in Korea). I believe this is why they went for a western theme, because rarely is something placed in a kpop video without reason. When Psy comes back after being killed he’s in an all purple yeehaw outfit. Purple is a color often used to represent BTS/ARMY, so maybe he was giving a little shout out to them? Ultimately, it’s supposed to be a fun dance song, but speculating kpop videos are always a fun time. I laughed so hard at your surprise that you'd been doing BTS reactions everyday for 6 months because when I got into them I listened to 99.9% BTS for about 2 years. They're was a lot to catch up on by the time I became ARMY. I still listen to BTS probably 95% of the time. Yoongi wrote his rap part, Psy wrote the rest, if I’m not mistaken. I saw an interview where Yoongi says he doesn’t really meet the people he collaborates with but Psy asked to meet him and after that, he convinced Suga to be featured in the song, then in the MV and even convinced him to dance. This is ICONIC! Two legends together 💜💜

Back story of this song : Suga reached Psy to tell him he had a song for Psy. They met and then went back and forth a lot. As Suga produced the song, he still seriously didn’t expect to be dancing with Psy. But, Psy said the BTS superstar ended up learning the intense chore step-by-step which led to him getting involved more and more deeply. Psy obviously learned a lot from Bang PD 😆

Finally I wanted to say I've been waiting for Psys comeback for ages and if it wasn't for him ba k in 2012 I would've not gotten into kpop. Secondly I love how he worked along with yoongi and got him not only produce but also to be in the MV but to also dance aswell. To me, the western costumes are related to PTD. But when he lands from the jump you hear a eagle call - like the eagle has landed (and no that pause isn't in the song.) Suga was once again tricked - he said I was just supposed write, produce it and duck out, but Psy is a close friend to him so he was talked into rapping a part, and then convinced into dancing in the video.

I like the song!! Yoongi killed it and he looked so good!!! PSY did good too! My favorite parts I think are when it slows down then speeds up and Yoongi’s part. I loved Yoongi’s adlibs so much. Fun Fact: 1) Same car as Deawticha and PSY’s car in his famous song (can’t spell it; sorry) 2) When Yoongi starts, from a Korean (watched Korean react), said the way he spoke was really gangster like…(hopefully this makes sense) 3) Yoongi thought he was only going to produce it but he composed, featured, and in music video!!! 4) PSY and Yoongi actually became great friends. Yoongi had written a song for Psy and wanted to send it to him to see if he was interested in recording it. Psy said yes and Yoongi thought his only role in this was going to be producing the song. Little did he know at the time that Psy would convince Yoongi to sing on the track and eventually do the MV Choreo. Both talk about the whole experience. Psy expressed how grateful he was that BTS referred to him as an artist who opened the door to the wester music market for future S Korean artists and was extremely grateful that Yoongi thought of him for this song. Beautiful interaction between the two. Two generations, two global powerhouse artists on one track. "That That" has that viral ear worm effect. Once you hear it, it sticks with you.
