Replacing a fuel pump is not as hard as you might think. I'll show you how to do it yourself, and save a ton of money on labor!

So many DIY videos are so poorly done with bad language, shaky/blurry camera work, details skipped, etc., that it is a pleasure to see one that is so well done. You are a master! Thank you!

I had a '95 Dodge many years ago, and the tank was almost empty so I dropped it. This is WAY easier! A hint- you can not fix the fuel gauge sender. Just replace it.

This is only the second time I have bothered to comment on the quality of a KZfaq video. You made a rather difficult job look so simple and easy that I could not pass up the opportunity to express my appreciation for your patient dialogue, excellent camera work and detailed instruction. A truly excellent presentation! Shop instructors would do well to watch this "redneck".

Thanks to D. Ray, he knows how to present a project that is a learning event. I have seen many videos on the internet and this is the best. I was looking for a way to troubleshoot the Evap. Emissions on my 2007 Chevy Silverado and eventhough he demonstrated replacing a fuel pump, D. Ray demonstrated the method I will use. I have watched this video many times to make sure I understood his technique. Again, thanks D. Ray.

Hey brother, Morrilton Ar here. The first time I did a fuel pump, I took the bed completely off. When I had to replace the sending unit, I did the bed tilt method, there's less room but it's so much easier than wrestling the whole bed off. Great video brother!

As a professional tech of over 10 years (still a baby), And 8 of these being a GM technician. I have probably done over 100 silverado/ sierra fuel pumps, both ways. I guess what I'm getting at is I don't need instruction in how to do them. That being said I have seen probably a dozen of your videos and will continue to do so because of how much I enjoy watching you do what you love as do I and have for so long. Your knowledge and attention to detail are paramount. I love that you share it with othere. Keep up the good work D-ray, from a sold viewer.

D-Ray the fuel pump went out on my Hubbys truck. We were almost in a left turn lane on a street that went up hill. Terrible place for the thing to die at. Thank God we had AAA we got it towed home. My hubby works and comes home tired and didnt really want to change it himself, but the quote we got was near 500. That number was a great motivator. I told him I saw your video and I thought we can do it! We ordered the fuel pump and yesterday THANKS TO YOUR GREAT INSTRUCTIONS we did it! The only tough part was putting that chrome looking ring back on. It was like we had to squeeze the "gasket on top of the fuel pump' down before the ring would turn. I ended up doing most of the job because his bifocals werent focusing, LOL. I Did it! I went to bed soo happy. I followed your video and it gave me the confidence to know it was done right! Hearing the monster start up and purr like a kitten was great! Thanks again from So Cal.

Excellent video! D-Ray ! Showing exactly what to do and how to do it in a do-it-yourself style. Many GM mechanics do this the same way. In our shop, as well as others, we had 4-5 guys available so we just picked the bed off . I have to do the same to my truck as well at home, as well as replace the brake line behind the tank. I'll be doing it exactly as you've shown,Thanks and keep up the good videos.

I watch quite a few different people on KZfaq on how to do various things on my 2001 Silverado 2500HD 4x4 and you rank right up there at the top. I had to replace the sending unit for my fuel tank a few years ago and I should have done it this way. I can tell you that even though my fuel tank only had a couple of gallons in it, dropping that tank is a royal pain in the rear. Great job on this video and I look forward to what else you can teach me!!!

Great video series, thanks. Awesome how you broke it down into 3 shorter videos instead of 1 big long one. I think I'm facing a fuel filter/pump issue right now with my 2006 Silverado 2500HD, and don't want to throw $600 at a shop to do it, and don't like the idea of dropping my tank. Great idea and method, I'll get it diagnosed for sure first and then try it at home.

This is the second one in 186,000 miles and we did it at our shop and even with a 2 post lift it was every bit of 2 hours dropping the tank after pumping out 20 gallons of fuel.
