The fictional character Spider-Man, a comic book superhero created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko and featured in Marvel Comics publications, has currently appeared in ten live-action films since his inception, not including fan made shorts and guest appearances in other Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films. Spider-Man is the alter-ego of Peter Parker, a talented young freelance photographer and aspiring scientist imbued with superhuman abilities after being bitten by a radioactive/genetically-altered spider.
The first live-action film based on Spider-Man was the unauthorized short Spider-Man by Donald F. Glut in 1969. This was followed by Spider-Man, an American made-for-television film that premiered on the CBS network in 1977. It starred Nicholas Hammond and was intended as a backdoor pilot for what became a weekly episodic TV series.
The rights to further films featuring the character were purchased in 1985, and moved through various production companies and studios before being secured by Sony Pictures Entertainment (Columbia Pictures) for $10 million (plus 5% of any movies' gross revenue and half the revenue from consumer products),[1] who hired Sam Raimi to direct Spider-Man (2002), Spider-Man 2 (2004), and Spider-Man 3 (2007) starring Tobey Maguire. The first two films were met with positive reviews from critics, while the third film received a more mixed response. In 2010, Sony announced that the franchise would be rebooted. Marc Webb was hired to direct, with Andrew Garfield starring, and The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) was released to positive reviews. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) saw mixed reviews.
In February 2015, Disney, Marvel Studios and Sony announced a deal to share the Spider-Man film rights, leading to a new iteration of Spider-Man being introduced and integrated into the MCU. The deal allows Sony to distribute and have final creative control over MCU films where Spider-Man is the main character, while Disney distributes the ones where he is not. Tom Holland portrays this younger version of Spider-Man, appearing in Captain America: Civil War (2016), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019), as well as a sequel to Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019). All of Spider-Man's MCU appearances have received positive reviews thus far.
Plans for an animated Spider-Man film were officially announced by Sony in April 2015. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) combines Sony Pictures Imageworks' computer animation pipeline with traditional hand-drawn comic book techniques, inspired by the work of Miles Morales's co-creator Sara Pichelli. Completing the animation required up to 140 animators, the largest crew ever used by Sony Pictures Animation for a film. Into the Spider-Verse received universal acclaim, winning the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and becoming the highest-rated film in the Spider-Man franchise, surpassing Spider-Man 2.
Raimi's trilogy grossed $2.5 billion worldwide on a $597 million budget, while Webb's films grossed nearly $1.5 billion on a $480 million budget. Spider-Man's MCU films (Homecoming and Far From Home) have grossed over $1.8 billion on a $335 million budget and Into the Spider-Verse grossed $375 million on a $90 million budget. The Spider-Man films have grossed over $6.1 billion collectively at the global box office.

I think TASM was almost perfect, mainly just needed it to be more random for Peter to have been bitten, don’t have him sneak into Oscorp with a stolen identity, make him realize it was partially his fault Uncle Ben died. Didn’t mind him going after the killer, just wish we had more closure on that subplot (like if he had actually found he killer). I wanted more of Flash and more of Captain Stacy or at least more of Flash in TASM 2. The only other major thing is I wish the Lizard’s motives were clearer. And also introducing Harry might have been a good idea but that might be too much to squeeze into one movie. Oof I miss Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man!

It makes sense for Peter to sneak into Oscorp with a stolen identity though. We are still near the beginning of the film where Peter hasn't really had any change, other than speaking to his crush and finding our about his father. He's still a selfish, secretive, smart loner, who is drifting through the world, not claiming any responsibility, because he thinks if it's okay for his real parents to abandon him, then he doesn't have to care about the world either. T he killer not being found was different bit it worked, Peter had to put aside his personal vendetta/manhunt driven my revenge because that wasn't how his powers aren't meant to be used, as it's not a responsible thing to do, he only adheres to Ben's words when he saves the kid. That scene is so well done. Peter finally saving people thanks to his powers, finally learning that he has no choice but to help others because it's his responsibility to. In the next scene, Peter is sat in his room, rethinking the purpose of his powers, and identity of Spider-Man, which is why he later decides to go out of the lizard, because he has to: it's his fault that Connors was able to become the Lizard, so he has to do the responsible things and put an end to the Lizard. For him to contribute to something bigger than himself(that something being society), at the beginning of the film, would not allow his arc to flow properly, as he has nothing to learn other than to recognise and control his abilities. My biggest problems are three things. 1 - Peter discovering Connors plan through that computer thing. And when he was walking through the sewers talking to Gwen...it may be a comic book film, but you can't get signal underground. 2 - The fact that Peter never really blames himself for Ben's death, as he blames the criminal. 3 - Not keeping the grounded tone set up in the first half of the film.

@@owensanfordstuff I almost completely agree to what you said except for one thing. Peter DOES blame himself for Ben's death, when he tries to listen to Uncle ben's voice mail he just can't. Filled with guilt, anger and regret, instead of choosing to embrace it he puts that guilt onto his uncles killer. He tries to go after him hoping that'll make him feel less guilty and give him closure, but only till he uses his powers for good he finally sees what responsibility he has, using his powers.

This sounds very good, I love how you don't want to start with the Spider-Man origin story but rather explore the other details first like his parents and oscorp and that allows the setup for spider man to feel more natural

For a Gotham style TV series for Spider-Man, I honestly think that ‘Amazing Fantasy’ would be a more fitting title. Also for the casting of Peter Parker, I would just bring back Max Charles who played child Peter since he’s about the right age now.

I think a really good Spider-Man show would be the campiness of smallvile or flash with the drama and seriousness of Daredevil or Mr. Robot. Have the perfect blend of campy and seriousness like in the comics.

I love the TASM films personally. The story they tried to tell was very interesting, but got ruined thanks to Avi Arad and Sony being morons. I also think the entire franchise had a ton of potential and captured a part of the character that I don't think the other films got right. I do love this idea. Despite my love for the TASM movies, I have issues with the film, but not the ones you have, since I feel we interpreted this film in a very different way. This is a very interesting take on this interpretation btw, I would totally watch a show like this.

I really liked your concept, the only thing I think could work even more on it is that Peter dawns the Costume we all know at the end of the series. His street suit could be a mix of the one used on The Amazing Spider-man 1 and the final battle suit from the comics. A red leather jacket with a hoodie underneath, a mask and a pair of googles. Some climbing gloves, jeans and sport shoes. He could add the spider logo later in the series but this could be his default throughout the series.

TheyCallMeTheFaggot, I love the films cause of the chemistry between Peter and Gwen and you can really feel their connection. I also love both of the suits. The realistic approach in TASM1 and the comicbook approach in TASM2. I also thought the idea of Rhino being a mech instead of a man basically looking like he fell into cement and came out looking like a rhino.

I mean, it’s not like pumpkin bombs that turn people into skeletons and webs that shoot out of Toby Maguire’s wrists for some reason was that much better. Plus the coincidences in the Rami trilogy were just too much. And Homecoming and Far From Home barely feel like Spider-Man films other than the fact that Tom Holland looks and has the innocence of Peter Parker (despite not quipping, privileged and less confident than I would’ve wanted)

Really good ideas here, however i think its a bit of a stretch to say this would be like 5 seasons. If anything from what you have said it seems more like a really really good mini series rather then a full blown seasonal show. Or at least have like 2 seasons. Thats just my opinion tho.

This has to be one of the best Spider-Man writes I’ve ever listened too. I love how the audience is able to learn more about Peter’s parents and Oscorp before Peter gets bit. It’s not too rushed like what they did in San Raime’s Spider-Man 1.

Man, seeing the dynamic poses Garfield's Spider-Man in some of the pictures you show just remind me of so much wasted potential that was TASM. He did so many cool things in those movies, like building a web to feel the vibrations in the sewers, or literally crawling all over the lizard to wrap him in a cocoon, or his spider sense scene in Times Square. I just wish the story of the movies wouldn't have been such a let down, because they had such interesting new ideas and every time he moved it looked exactly like a page out of the comics.

a thought that didn't come to mind until re-watching this for the third time. when you say that peter parker's parents would be working on a cure for cancer makes think that it could lead to an ultimate spider-man route with the venom symbiot later down the line

I think you should change the vigilante suit because really having him in that suit for a whole season fighting the sinister six doesn’t make sense maybe have him be in like a darker scarlet spider suit

Amazing fantasy 1-3 Season 1: Mary and Richard would be working with Norman until they find out that he’s EVIL! They get on a plane and DIES! Season 2: Aunt May and Uncle Ben would have money issues and would struggle to keep Peter safe. Peter gets bullied at school and meets Harry. Multiple Vultures and Electro’s attack the city Season 3: 5 more villains attack the city it’s up to captain Stacy to protect the city. Captain Stacy brings his daughter Gwen to play with Peter while Captain Stacy fights in the Super War. Aunt May is going to get evicted so she gets a job as a janitor. She gets attacked by Vulture. Captain Stacy kills the prototype. If you want other seasons let me know.

This is a pretty good approximation of what I'd want from a Spidey TV show (that's not animated). I believe The Animated Series (90s Spidey) started off where Spidey was already on the scene and then backtracked from there.

First of all Keep the yellow eyes But in general this is pretty good but i feel like spidey was introduced a bit late make bite the midpoint of the second season so we don’t have a full season with him making the costume and discovering his powers because it could seem stretched out but other than that really good

For me personally I was always indifferent to the first movie and consider the sequel to be as bad as many say it is. The only thing I actually liked was Gwen and Peter's relationship. Everything else The Amazing Spider-man did was done better in the Raimi trilogy, Into The Spider-Verse, and even Homecoming and Far From Home.

A T.V. show is the correct way to make a Spider-Man on-screen story and it's surprising Marvel or Sony haven't seen it yet. It makes sense cause films will obviously make more money and I think Marvel's universe will make an easier or better way to build the Sinister 6 but depending on the amount of movies they are allowed I'm scared they'll fail Spider-Man again.

I like the idea. but I would probably have season 1 start off with the spider bite and have peter learn and grow to be spider-man. and season 2 I'd have peter struggle with the responsibility with being spider-man and teaching miles morales how to be spider-man. and season 3 I'd have it be more about the villains there will still be spider-man but season 3 will make you relate with the villains a little bit more.

I wanted to hear your thoughts In 2020 or 2021 I Wrote a similar version called Brooklyn with 6 Seasons (Season 6 is the Last 6 Episodes from Season 5) But this Series is a little different for example Uncle Ben is still a alive, Cletus Kasady has something to do with The Green Goblin Origin, Gwen is not born yet, Peter is more responsible for his Uncle's death Later in the Series and Lastly Peter would run Parker Industries (Two Things to note. One It's NOT Peter's Destiny to be SM. Two Parker Industries is a EARLY version of Ozcorp) Another thing is Peter Wouldn't be SM Until Season 3 well at least A prototype SM which gives way To The Amazing Spider-Man. So that all I Say if you want to here more tell in the comments.

You got some cool ideas, you should totally do a If i wrote "The Amazing Spider-Man 3". But i think Spider-Man could really work on TV. A more smaller focused and street leveled story slowly building up to some off the biggest Spider-Man tales made.

Good video but I had another idea Make it a sort of small ville sort of and have all of the scientists like Otto , Kurt , and Norman all work at Oscorp and keep the thing with peters parents and oscorp and don’t make him make his homage suit till like the last episode and have uncle Ben die in like the last season. Characters like Adrian tombes Matt Gillian and flint Marco can be normal criminals and the police and Lt. Stacy will Stop them then later towards the end of the show they can become vulture sandman and scorpion and things like that. So each episode will involve peters day to day life with high school drama and he will get the spider bite by the end of the first season and he will keep learning to use them for himself then for good when uncle Ben dies but most of the show will be about peter in high school with powers but he’s not Spider-Man yet and sets up his villians and if u want to have Harry Osborn u can do it like Norman loves peter more than Harry and that causes some tension characters like mj or Gwen can be in it but they r not necessarily needed. This is just my idea tho great video

A vigilante but he’s in it for the glory. He takes on the Sinister Six but isn’t interested in protecting people from normal criminals which leads to Uncle Ben’s death. It’s not a far cry from Amazing Fantasy 15 where Peter becomes Spider-Man before Uncle Ben’s death but only for fame and ego.

One thing I dont like is how you explain away with him being a loner because his abandonment issues. Its good for a silk type character not Peter . I always felt Peter would have at least 2 friends or more . As a loner myself I always wanted friends at least 50 percent of the time
