I thought it was insane that Norman at the age of like 60ish just died from his weird rare disease. Harry who's like 18 and healthy as a horse coincidentally starts showing symptoms within days of finding out he MIGHT have the same disease. He asks Spiderman for his blood (what evidence does he have that it could save him again??) and gets rejected. He now goes from "I might have this disease to "I'm dying now and have very limited time". Its so dumb.

What bothers me is that I loved some of the relationship moments from the Amazing Spider-Man movies: when Uncle Ben (great performance by Sheen) rips Peter a new one, May telling Peter "you're MY boy", Peter meeting up with Harry for the first time and the audience see Harry's softer side, among others. I feel like those were sadly wasted in the long run by a series that was quickly forgotten.

I REALLY wouldnt mind a Nando- style rewrite on Amazing Spider-Man 2. Maybe a Defenders-styled one with more freedom to the changes rather than just reworking the same elements like Iike in the Man of Steel one, since even if you trim out stuff like Peter's parents and the Rhyno, it'd be really hard telling a 'Death of Gwen Stacy' story while having to do both Electro and Green Goblin from scratch.

When you made the point about how wrong it is that Spider-Man is now about destiny, I was thinking "It's all about destiny now, huh? Who wrote this script? Alex Kurtzmann?". Then I looked it up and sure enough... yep, he did ^^. Kurtzmann has one note on his "how to write things" post-it, and that is "it has to be destiny". He. does. it. every. time.

One tiny change that could be made to completely fix the Harry arc would be to have Peter’s spidersense go off while Harry tries to convince Spidey to give him his blood. It would give him a reason to not give him his blood, and later when he learns he’s special being a Parker or whatever it would explain why his spidersense went off

I gave up on this movie after the chase scene was over and we didn't immediately get a news rerun describing how he neglected to save pretty much anyone paul rammed into and instead goofed around with him. By itself that's not a problem but the lack of immediate consequences killed it for me.

I was hoping this would be about the scene where he just comes home carrying a fish for some reason? It's in the hero montage towards the beginning. I like to think about how someone must have awarded him the fish for saving them, and he somehow swung all the way back to Forest Hills while carrying a large fish and it's only when he gets to his closet he starts to think "Now what do I do with this?"

I'd like to add that even if that thing about the blood was kept, make it a false flag where it turns out that research was a dead end. Like it turned out it wasn't a thing, just something Peter's dad and Norman thought of and explored.

I dunno, the entire point of Spider-Man is that the spider bite could’ve happened to anyone and it just so happened to be Peter. Making his parents SHIELD agents kind of detracts a bit from the whole “Peter could’ve been anyone” angle, wouldn’t you say?
