As an owner you have the final say so its just an advice. Putting an animal down isn't something that must taken lightly. A good vet will not give that advice until everything else isn't a option. But it's always up to yourself to make that choice. A vet can only advice.

@@Reaven88NL Sadly i see too many vets suggest putting a dog down as a easy solation and they never recommended trying any at home remedies even if they can sometimes work.. they rather kill it then loose money.. I was told to put my 12 year old leonberger down when he developed a infection in his legs from sores.. i refused took him home and put him on oregano pills (super strong antibiotics) he got one everyday and he got better and ended up living till he was 14 and died naturally in his favorite bed.

Dachshund spinal issues are unfortunately a fairly common and serious issue. My girl had issues at age 6, and we found that using ramps around the house for her to use helps so much. instead of jumping up on chairs and up steps really hurts them over time she can walk up the ramp without that added spinal pressure. She’s now 12 and hasn’t had any issues since we switched to ramps.

Frankie the Dachshund reminded me so much of my old pupper, Hotshot. I was grinning at her personality. Chatty, and mildly grumpy, Hotshot had a vocabulary that people learned pretty quickly. LOL Groans, whines, yips and other sounds to let you know what he felt. He was a character well-known around our neighbourhood for his "little dog" syndrome--always getting into it with the larger dogs... and sometimes winning. He'd come home all proud, most days. Yeah, he was off-leash, and we stupidly let him wander about--we didn't really know better--this was well over thirty years ago, and I was a kid, so mea culpa. Hotshot was a Dachshund/Chihuahua cross with more attitude than size, shorter in length than standard, stockier and a touch taller, with the muscular build of a Dachshund, and he was the same rusty colour as Frankie in this video.

I have a Dachshund Chihuahua mix named Molly. Mom was the Dachshund--a full-sized black and tan, and the dad was a tan Chihuahua, very tiny. Molly is black and tan, with some white. She has more Dachshund personality, has stand up ears, longer legs, and she does have the long back. She's 8, and her back is OK for now. She's really sweet, but kind of a stubborn lunkhead. I think the female devil had a wound on her face, not a tumor. (Jan Griffiths).

My mare had blocked tear ducts. It was actually kinda cool unblocking them...it just looked like it would be a relief when all that stuff came out...

He didn’t ask for all this suffering either. Sometimes you need to do the right thing. No matter how tough it is.

I'm always amazed at the procedures or devices these vets come up with. Chris must be really missed where he left the practice.

I wish you wouldn't blur the medical bits. Maybe you could put up a warning instead -- something like, "Graphic video ahead; skip to x:xx to avoid seeing it."

Just think of Alfie as the “Velveteen Rabbit “ of the goat world. He may be missing an ear, and there are scars everywhere, but he’s much loved for all of that.

Seeing Oscar go from this sad, underweight, and in horrible condition, to a happy and healthier goat because of Chris just made me so happy. Thank you Chris! Also, the project to save the Tasmanian Tigers was amazing, and the enclosures looked great and I’m so glad that they’re working so so hard to save them, hard work pays off. =)
