My God…..I now know why I had water leaks in my 12 year old kitchen. Just had it replaced, and this sort of stuff was used throughout. Pleased I paid extra for proper plumbing with copper, it looked like a work of art!

Hmmm some basic errors here...no conduit on pipes in wall,unessesary strain on T joints when fitted correctly,isolation valves on sink should be turned outwards as so when pedestal is fitted you can turn them on or off.After a while the T joints will leak & customer/plumber will have a hard job getting to them isolation valves behind pedestal to turn off.Oh & basic rule of any plumbing is tape up pipes before running under floorboards or drilling above them.

When pushing any pipe under floorboards put tape over the end, the last thing you need is crud getting into your nice new system causing problems. ( all builders muck gets swept under floor).

@IPfrequently
@IPfrequently 4 жыл бұрын
@@caljam3599 Its usual to flush out new work after installation, power flushing is more for older (c/h systems), however I have removed debris like small pebbles/brick from pipes, which would never flush out even under high pressure. Hence protect the pipe end before pushing under floors.

Not just for crud either, any scoring or damage to the pipe exterior is the biggest cause of leaks on push fit piping systems.

Little tip here Home DIYers, Never nail in the centre of a floorboard, that's where plumbers and electricians run their services, So if you want to avoid flooding the house or the power going off always nail at the edges of floorboards.

I'm a sparks, so please correct me if I'm wrong but won't that many 90 degree bends start to reduce the flow? Also, I didn't see him lock the push fit's tight? The hole he done for the hot sink pipe, why did he go above the cold if the hole was lower than the cold? Also the holes could have been a bit lower down on the joist, to prevent future screws going through the pipes? He's not once covered the end of the plastic pipes, so could pick up crap that will be in the system!

Copper into push fit doesn't need inserts, only needed when fitting plastic to compression fittings
@argonaut6386
@argonaut6386 3 жыл бұрын
My main concern with using plastic is the inserts reduce the inside bore diameter of the pipe plus o'ring degredation. I know they come with a 25yr guarantee but that's not long in terms of a house. I'm rerouting copper pipe with solder joints at the moment that's been in 52 years and no sign of any issues. Also when it does start to leak in 25 yr one month can this plastic be recycled as well as copper / brass?

Hi. I watched this your video, but I didn't understand one thing. You run all the pipes under the floor, then connect them to copper and raise them above the floor. I thought that the connection of copper pipes was to be hidden in the wall, but you didn’t do that, but left it against the wall. It seems to me that it would be much better and more beautiful if they were not visible and were hidden in the walls.

Sorry some sloppy work going on here and cant agree with some of the comments about the quality. I am a DIY'er and have used Heo2O extensively, you have to be a bit useless to get it wrong with this stuff it is so easy to use. However, he is making some really silly basic errors, he has drilled two holes in the joist for the pipes then the pipe that needs to go over is adjacent pipe is placed in the lower hole thereby putting unnecessary strain on the lower pipe and connections? Pipes in wall should always be in conduit and not in contact with plaster/ cement etc. Sorry but too many basic errors here maybe too keen to get the job done as quickly as possible?

@dmartin1650
@dmartin1650 4 жыл бұрын
I've used both and they seem to perform similarly. Never had any issues with either but as others have said, you need to protect the pipe from damage when laying in. Any scratches, scoring or other damage leads to a poor seal at the fitting and is the biggest cause of leaks. I do generally prefer the Hep20 because the metal inserts support the pipe better on those occasions when you need to fit a compression fitting.

Shouldn’t use plastic pipe fittings in the wall for a shower. I hope those sockets and wiring are removed before the bathroom goes in! Should always mark the pipe before pushing in a fitting, to be 100% it’s all the way in.

Why not just bend the pipe instead of using the 90 degree bends?
@howtocellvideos
@howtocellvideos 6 жыл бұрын
Its good practice to use fittings instead of just bending/ putting strain on the pipe which could fail or leak in time. However, the bend in question was relatively small, therefore it could have been easily bend without issues - or to be extra perfect, a 45 degree fitting should have been used instead of an elbow.

I have to agree, it's far too big. Rule of thumb, if you're drilling joists, holes must be at least 2 in. from the top and bottom edges of a joist. and maximum hole size is one-third of the joist depth. If you're notching joists, maximum depth of a notch at the end of a joist (where it rests on a wall or beam) can’t exceed one-quarter of the joist depth. Maximum notch depth in the outer third of a joist is one-sixth of the joist depth, the length of the notch shouldn't exceed one-third of the joist depth. Don't notch in the middle third of a joist.

I think they're referring to the complete lack of care. Not using a spirit level when bringing up the basin pipes. Measuring the outside of where they run, then using that line to secure the clips. Not lining up the fittings. Just really rushed and amateurish.
@andrewsmall6568
@andrewsmall6568 6 жыл бұрын
One of the benefits of plastic pipework is that you can bend it around obstacle but still maintain the integrity of the pipe. The weakest section and something that WILL leak over time is the join. Best practice is to place plastic joins in accessible places such as under shower trays/maintenance hatches NOT under floorboards. I just cannot agree that the planning of the installation was anything but poor. DIY'ers - by all means use plastic piping but use it to its advantage and minimise the amount of joins and cuts. Copper piping and solder will last for 50 years without leaking... If you are making a join under floorboards, then use copper and solder.
