no but it has a similar artstyle due to it using a common template for this engine (and the graphical style is very associated with 'sokoban' in this engine)

I was expecting it to invert empty and non-empty areas like in starseed pilgrim or nitrome's yin yang wonder if any block pushing game has done that but I also noticed each level having a large brick square, just didn't put it all together

Baba is You focuses on all the other ideas, not the block pushing. Purely Sokoban (block pushing on targets) inspired games can contain levels that are super difficult, time consuming to solve and cruel. Not saying that’s a particularly good thing haha

more specifically it's because a common template for block pushing uses this, and people just like it enough that it's part of the genre (even though the engine is perfectly capable of easy sprite editing)
