People can say what they want about the Saw franchise, but the original trilogy (which were initially supposed to be it, their own compact story) are great. And this first one is a masterclass in minimalist horror. The majority of the film takes place in a single room and their budget was something like 1 and a half million dollars. The car chase scene was done in a warehouse with people shaking the cars back and forth and people running up and down the sides with flashlights. They did so much with so little!

Interesting facts about SAW (2004) (1) Cary Elwes filed a lawsuit against the producers and the production company because he only received a nominal salary with backend revenues. He claimed to have been promised 1% of the profit, which would be considerable since this film earned over $100 million globally. The case was finally settled out of court but, due to the disagreements, Elwes chose not to be involved with any of the sequels until Saw 3D (2010). (2) Leigh Whannell came up with the idea of giving John Kramer a brain tumor while spending time in a neurology ward for anxiety and headaches. He said that undergoing numerous tests and expecting bad news made him reflect on his own mortality. He used this experience in creating a character who had only a few years left to live. (3) Tobin Bell lay face down for all of the scenes set in the bathroom; no dummy was used. (4) The identity of the Jigsaw Killer is revealed early in the film, during a flashback. When Zep (Michael Emerson) says "He's a very interesting person," there is a diagram of the "Reverse Bear Trap" on John's hospital bedside table.

Saw 2 is a legitimately good sequel. There are a few scenes that will probably make someone squeamish, but the camera doesn't linger on the injuries or draw out the scene for the sake of making you squirm. Saw 3 is where it really starts to ramp things up in terms of being hard to watch, so I'd tentatively say give Saw 2 a shot.

Saw 1-3 are strong, good films; they're not torture-porn or gratuitous. I've followed you for a while and I think you could handle it. Saw 2 is fun; Saw 3 had a good emotional arc for the main character. Saw X was also really well done; it has the highest rating of the entire franchise on Rotten Tomatoes at 89%. AND it has nothing to do with the later films; it takes place between Saw 1 and 2. My recommendation: Saw II, Saw III, and Saw X. You'll get a well-rounded Saw experience sticking to these, story-wise. They're gory but not horrifically so. The other movies in the series are too uneven. The traps are def just for gore and the acting gets pretty bad. The thread of the main storyline also gets convoluted after 3; it's not easy or fun to try and make sense of secret envelopes, secret tapes, double-crossing, and other crap you have to remember from every other movie. You're not going to have a good time.

I'm sure I'll catch some heat for this but this franchise is partly responsible for saving my life. I know... it sounds ridiculous. But as a survivor of stalking, assault, and SA, these films motivated me to reconsider my circumstances when i was at the end of my rope and about to throw in the flag. The world is such a cruel, and violent place, and when it AND its systems that are supposed to support and help you grow don't... and only add to your pain and suffering, it takes more than a miracle to save you from being consumed by the darkness. Buffy, X-Men, and SAW helped do that for me. Jigsaw aka John, as flawed of a character as he is, is a testament to what can happen to a person when the world repeatedly fails you and those around you. Not only that, he's also a symbol of strength, perseverance, and justice. "Those you don't appreciate life, do not deserve life." A quote that still resonates for me in this chaotic, corrupt, bigoted, and Trump-influenced time.

The gore is a LOT but the story gets so messy and juicy, I think you'd have a lot of fun with it if you could stomach it. I would at least recommend 2 and 3, that sort of finishes up the intended trilogy. Great to see you again, it's been so long!

This was amazing. I’ve been into horror since I was a kid with original universal monster movies like Dracula, wolfman, Frankenstein. And even Monster Squad which is a horror version of the goonies. Horror is pretty much all I watch and it’s so much fun watching you react to them. My favorite KZfaq channel for sure. I would agree the first three are really intertwined and tell a good story. After, the story is still good but the kills get gruesome but there’s a story behind that as well and why that happens. Keep on being you girl in all your fabulousness. Your videos definitely make bad days not so bad. Much love!

This franchise is so wild as it’s so convoluted with the twists and turns it takes. The original was a pretty good start to this franchise with an iconic trap with the reverse bear trap, having billy the puppet, and the legend himself Jigsaw with one of the best horror twists ever since it’s very unexpected. This movie is pretty tame when it comes to the gore. The red coast with the pig mask was always so creepy.

So glad you finally got to watch this movie, queen! I honestly didn’t think you would do it but I was not disappointed by your reaction. I was just laughing my ass off. But yes, Jigsaw was such a troll. Dude really was sitting there playing dead the whole time. That… is the work of a mad genius. Definitely a bit sick in the head but we, the fans, find him surprisingly interesting and complex. If you decide to watch the sequels, it’s worth watching. Yes, they get pretty ridiculous over the years but it has that soap opera charm that has drawn people to it, even when they’re not hard core fans. And the music you heard at the end is known as “Hello Zepp.” It is the signature theme of the movies and always plays at the end. Charlie Clouser, who made the music is one reason why the series has lasted as long as it has. The films would not had worked without it. He used to be the keyboard player of Nine Inch Nails by the way.

LMAOO this was rlly funny. truly the saw movies aren't what critics claim they are (torture porn). theyre fking hilarious at times and they're more like soap operas with their complex ass storylines
@LoneRanger-et7gq2 ай бұрын
Your right. Especially, the first Saw; actually well written and acted. I think Hostel falls under the torture p category.
@robertyeah22592 ай бұрын
Saw 4, 5, 6, and 7 are definitely fetish-y with the gore. But they at least continue the (very convoluted and nonsensical) story, which is entertaining. Saw 6 is my personal fav because of Rodrick and also weird criticism of American health insurance? Strangely political for a Saw film but it makes sense. But I can’t in good conscience recommend Jigsaw or Spiral, not because of gore but they just don’t feel like continuations of the series. I didn’t see Saw X yet but sounds like everyone liked it.

Right as I'm about to eat, you always know the right time to post 🙏🙏these movies are like one long string of craziness, gore and one of the strangest crime/detective stories I've ever seen...all with varying quality lol, they get REALLY rough after like 4 but the newest one was surprisingly good

the people's favorite horror girlie has done it again. I never thought we would be taking on this insane franchise, but I'm glad you are! This movie and the sequel are probably my favorites. It does go a bit off the rails if you stick with the entire series. 👀

@@AlandaParkerSaw 2 is more or less similar to the gore in Saw 1. Saw 3 however is extremely graphic and I would not recommend it based on you saying you don’t like that stuff. Avoid Saw 3 at all costs, it’s horrifically violent, not very good either.

Saw and Saw 2 are about the same level of gore, as in, honestly not as much as the franchise's legacy would suggest. Saw 3 is when things start getting a little gross, but the movies are still varying degrees of watchable. Saw 7 is just bad. Literally just torture porn for it's own sake. And the franchise didn't recover until last year's Saw 10.

I feel like you'd be okay watching Saw 2, but I might be wrong. There's not too much more gore/body horror that's worse than this one, and has a good plot. I would definitely tell you to stop there, though. From three on the gore goes up and the story goes drastically down, haha.
