Where are the Vaelune and Tulnar mains?! 👀 Great season bud

Had an absolute BANGER time chatting with you Burns on Bespoke season 2! Such a great concept for content and its very very entertaining to watch! Can't wait for season 3 and the future of your content when A2 drops... its going to be fantastic!

I think it would be a great idea if ashes of creation allows you to pick the starting race that allows the player to get skills, perks, and ability of that race for free. Then later they can travel to other races to learn and gain the ability, skills and perks from other races. To acquire it you must first do quests and earn that race trust and respect. Then you can go ahead and learn them through a trainer and depending on how skill the trainer is will determine the level of skill you get and you can also upgrade your skills through them if you pick that race at the start. You can also use alchemy to get those abilities which can adjust your body to better receive them and can upgrade your stats. The alchemy changes can range from little to no outward changes to a full race change. With alchemy you could acquire lungs that can handle fire breathing, magic veins that can better handle higher magic, higher reflexes, ability to breath underwater, or higher muscle strength. Lastly, you have items that give you racial ability as long as you wear them.

Maybe racial benefits could be party related. Nikua allow for faster sailing, Dunir construct siege equipment quicker, or Tulnar unlock some unique paths in the under realm. So as long as someone in a party is one of the races everyone can benefit. It would make bringing along certain races for certain objectives kind of relevant

lol I specifically made a dwarf priest for my guild. I started as an off tank :) when i first started priesting i played it as if was a tank. It did not end well.

Environment based combat effects ARE valid in my opinion. If race X is at an advantage in it's home region by either getting a buff in said region, or all other races get a debuff when inside. The debuff inside region brings up the option of consumables or spells that can supress it. For example a 'malaria' debuff in swamps which some medicine can alleviate for a period of time.

Very interesting answers. I completely agree with not having combat abilities be racial passives. I agree with Nyce when he mentioned how choosing a race became so important because you had to choose how you wanted to play the game before you actually played. I think because of that, I'd lean more towards having region-specific racial abilties that are the same for all races. Since regions should have a fairly equal allotment of end-game activities, making each race gain a small bonus to movement speed, or gathering speed, or even just a flavour text change in quests might be the fairest way to separate it. This would be separate from what race actually ends up dominating an area, and be static on game-launch. I think that's the best way to encourage as many Py'rai to start in the Py'rai area (for lore's sake), while not feeling bad if you don't, because you can travel there and benefit from those bonuses at any time.

Really hoping we end up with racial hot spots in zones by the passive benefits that encourage each race to group up (therefore the node becomes that type) ie Tulnar- under realm Renkai - red wood/swamp Vek - jungle or barrens Empyrean - forest/high mountain Py’rai-redwood/jungle Kealar - river lands Vaelune - desert Dunir- snow Nikua - islands/tropical

It would make sense that the racial abilities were biome/environment related, so that each race had a biome in which the moved, fought? and crafted better in, and maybe had one biome in which they didn't, by exactly the same amount.

It's good to hear there is some love for Nikua. I honestly expect them to be the least played race by far but if they have a good solid backing of players. I'll be going Py'rai. I love their aesthetic too much.

probably a tulnar&vek&humanb hybrid: it is stated that tulnar are a combination of races, so underworld ft. navigation on the open seas benefits from vek woudl be crazy

When is this game ever coming out? Feel like it’s been YEARS been hearing about this off and on.

In order, I think I would play as these races: Vek for my main/first character, because I ultimately want to support the Vek. Vaelune is what I'm going to be testing with the most, I'll give the Renkai and Tulnar a try for sure, but I don't think I'll be playing any elves or dwarves, partly because they're so popular.

I think some races should have different base stats which would lead to more attack speed, stamina, health, attack, etc. I think a variation in these stats could be fun and still be balanced.

My problem is this: When I feel like a badass I want to play some orcish Ren'Kai, when I feel freeky, I want to play a Vek, and when I want to see something cute, I want to play a Niküa. And then there are times I just want to follow a nice human female avatar, e.g. an Vaelune. So, all in all it is tough.

Whatever racial keeps my robes clean, and keeps melee off my beautiful caster while he devastates hopes and dreams.

Kaelar Knight, even though their armor sets are shit, which insane considering how much full plate armor references are out there.

I just want to be able to pvp/pve with whatever race I want to play as. Just make the racials not combat related. If Dunir get a crafting bonus while swinging a blacksmith hammer in a snowy mountain city. That's pretty cool. Lol

They could tie certain class trainers to racial npcs. It wouldn't lock you out of taking the class if you're not that race, but you'd still have to find the relevant npc for the particular class.

Great stuff and great season! Keep them coming! As an out of left field comment. Dont know if you ever watched the muppet show growing up. If you did, remember the two old geezers that were in the sky box seats and heckled Kermit and the gang? I immediately get that connection with the two long neck beasts we've seen in the jungle snippets with the mounts and animals. It's just the look those two things give. Keeps me rolling everytime i see them in clips....lol...sorry. Keep the vids rolling!

I believe you will be able to choose crafting/gathering passives rather than them being racial based. This was hinted at a while back. I do not know if things have changed but Steven did say quite sometime back that some races will be better suited to certain classes than others, so make of that what you will. Will be Ren'Kai always has been always will be, do not care what the tulnar turn out like.

That WoW clip hit me hard. All that nostalgia the music brings is crazy, but I've come to the realization that people spend more dollars than hours on the game. Lol. The legendary dropped!? Buy a WoW token so you can afford to craft it!

I'm obsessed with all things water but I hate dwarves so I'm probably either playing a Vek or a Nikua unless some other aquatic/amphibian looking race comes out or Tulnar get something as an option.

Also, JamieKaos said that there aren't really different stats between the races, but I'm pretty sure all races will have their own statblock.

Playing a Dunir mage, does not matter if the racial is some sort of defensive mitigation ability. At least it could be good in PvP :) Agreeing with you though, the racials should probably not be combat related. I like the EvE Online route.

Race is what drives me, its the most important decision and i dont care about the bonus a race gives. I want to be the most Non human race i can come up with....Body of a spider, head of a squid, tentacle arm here, pincer on this side, tail with a hook...yup, that's what I'm playing!

It seems they have dropped hints of weaving bonus for Vek and leather working for Py'rai

I only ever choose my race based on their appearance and lore so I hope they dont make it where you have to make a certain race to be optimal. if they do have race specific things I hope its utility based that do no effect combat

I always choose Human. Humans are alway the best race to play, not because of stats.

Combat power is the only reason to even have different races.

Races dont have abilities. They have augments. What you'd see as racial abilities in most games are goong to be on your backround choice instead. - commented before watching, lets see of any of them catch this.

I always find being a slave to metas stupid. Have some balls and make the races unique and diverse. I love when the same class and build feels different because my race is different.

They should not do any racial things that aren’t cosmetic. The backgrounds, open to all races and classes, is ideal. Race already has so much tied to it. You want players to pick what they want to be, not feel pressured to be a specific race to min-max. Terrible design, always has been.
