Hi Becky! Thanks for this tutorial for Amelie Scott "Edge to Edge". I didn't print the designs out, I stitched them out on stabilizer. All sizes, all designs. This allowed me to audition the designs and mark where I needed to start while my piece is hooped in the Magna hoop. It saves me from doing the algebra! BTW, the quilt I did, it started as a queen size. I'm not a quilter, that was my first. It ended up as a lap quilt! Kudos to those real quilter queens. Thank you for not editing out the BOO-BOO'S, showing how to use the tools and making it all work out. Boo ghost turned out fabulously! You crack me up!

Hi Becky, great tutorial! I use the Amelie Scott edge-to-edge all the time. I'd like to give you a couple of more hints. When you advance you stitch by one (1) to bring up the bobbin thread...after I bring it up, i minus a stitch to bring it back to stitch #1. Also, I turn off my End Trim so that I don't have the short threads on the back....when you turn off the End Trim the machine will move and give you a long end tail and then you hit the cutter button. And lastly, it's a good idea to do a column of designs and then work your way to the right...after they are all done, you turn your project around and do the "B" side...this way the bulk of the quilt is always to your left. You were okay as the Boo was a wall hanging, but if it had been a quilt it would be a lot to deal with. I love your videos and love how you showed how to overcome that stitching mess on the corner...I think I would have sat and cried! lol

My Baby Lock teacher told me not to worry about pulling bottom threads like with regular free motion quilting. I did learn a lot from you and love your sewing room!

Great tutorial love the troubleshooting on the embroidery great how you just seem to keep going no loosing your cool .The finished mini quilt looks great.makes me want to get an embroidery machine even more .😁🙋

Just stumbled on this tutorial. What a kick it was to watch. I'd like you in my back pocket all the time. I have done 2 quilts with Amelie a couple of years ago with the monster hoops and loved it. But I am way out of practice and was without my machine for 3 months waiting for parts, but it's back and I needed a good swift kick to get started again. I've developed insecure complex..you know...scared to death of the machine...I know stupid...but thanks to you, i am invigorated and ready to head to the room and get started again. Hi Becky, just coming back to this as my Dime hoop arrived. Ran out of WSS so did without by stopping machine and skipping foward through the pattern until the foot was back on my panel, then carried on with design. Thanks for recommending the hoops and the designs.

This was a super video and very timely. I just received a Snap Hoop for my Brother Dreamweaver machine because I want to learn how to machine embroider my own quilts and save a little money. Becky, love the way your Boo turned out. The exclamation point was scared out of the position by the ghost yelling Boo--LOL. I wish my Ellagante 2 had the same foot I use on my Coronet Longarm that is a cup and just slides over edges of the quilt without getting caught. I would have taken my foot off and the needle out to try and free it but I can see now how Designs in Machine Embroidery kit works super. On my next purchase list!!

Becky, notice when you put the A and B papers together, 10 minutes into the video, that the ends of the embroidery match up, but the tops and bottoms of the papers are about 1/4 of inch off. So if you line up the papers on your quilt, the edges will not meet. I am not sure why this happens, but I had a lot of trouble with it. So lining up the design ends, and not putting the papers in line, is very important. Just wanted to share this.

That is just adorable! I love it! I am so glad that you showed the problem that you were able to resolve. I have done a little bit of this using my Dream Machine that is similar to your machine. It will use the snowman sticker to line things up. I didn’t know it would align the pattern if it was not straight though. Wonder if mine does that? What happened to you was a big fear of mine. So much that I tried to tape my project around the edge and it created even more of an issue I think. My wall hanging is still not completed because I didn’t plan well on the placement of the design runs. Now my design runs way, way off the edge of the fabric of the project plus the extra fabric that I taped to it to allow for the pattern to sew out completely. I was wondering if I can use the + button and move the pattern forward until the design that is going to stitch is now ON the fabric again, not stitching where the design is off the fabric. I had no idea what in the world I was doing when I started this and just decided to jump in and do it and see what would happen. Well now I know that I need to plan better on where each of the stitch outs will happen rather than just “wing it”. Thanks so much. I learned a ton from this video. I love how you don’t panic! Me! I would have stopped the video and trashed the entire thing! UGH! I even have a set of those tools that you whipped out but have never used them yet. I think I will go work on that wall hanging and get it finished. I am going to remove all of the tape and try it without all of the mess of the tape. Hopefully the pressure foot won’t get caught, but if it does I know how to fix it and move on. I was doing the wall hanging as practice to get ready to do a lap-sized quilt. This was probably 6 months ago or more and the quilt is still waiting. Yes, I watched your other video that was recommended by DBJJ and that’s what gave me the initial confidence to even try it. And I even asked you questions and got some help. But I gave up when I realized that the design was going to stitch out way beyond my fabric and I just gave up. There was no way to hoop it that I could see. So I will try some of that interfacing and try to finish it. Now sure how I will cut it off where it gets stitched to the back of the project though. Oh I’ll use “wash away”. Will the sulky stuff that looks like Saran Wrap work? I’ll give that a try. Thanks so much Becky! HAPPY NEW YEAR! Keep the videos coming. I have her Amelia Scott designs as well. I Love it, the only thing that I need to get is the magnetic hoop. I understand what you are doing because Ive done it except I had to actually hoop it, with a regular hoop , talk about a pain . But other than that its a sweet system

Hi, Becky. You inspired me to buy the embroidery designs. Someone may have mentioned already but you can use Scan N Cut SDX to draw the PES files. I did mine on 12x12 cardstock to test and it was great. A in red and B in blue. I will draw the longer files on freezer paper cut to size and also have the advantage of reusable stick from the back of that. Right now I'm going to test on pot holders. Too wimpy to try more! Ha.

Great tutorial! I’ve done a few edge to edge projects, and that magnetic hoop is invaluable, especially when doing a larger project. Becky, did you know if you hold down the start (green lit) button, it controls/slows down the stitching? That helps when you just want a few stitches at the beginning of your quilting project. I have the Quattro 3, and I’m still learning about all the capabilities it has.

I am new to quilting with my embroidery machine and really want to try it. What size needle do you use when you do this? Did you use the same thread in the bobbin as on the top? Did you adjust the tension of your bobbin so it does not pull tight like it normally does when you are embroidering? Nevermind - it looks like you can only do this with the sewing/embroidery combo. I have the 1700e which is embroidery only. Am I correct?

I use an old bed sheet for extra material instead of the Pellon. Just cut it up and reuse if needed.

Did you use a monster hoop on that hanging? I'm wondering if I need a smaller hoop to do smaller designs? In otherwords, do you tend to match size of hoop to the size of design? Or is it okay not to?
