Today I’ve got a complete step by step walkthrough of the New Philips Hue App. The app has recently been updated so I thought it would be perfect to do a video since I’ve got so many Philips Hue product videos on the channel. I’ve added chapters so don’t forget to check down below so you can navigate the video as you please. Qasim, bravo for your great instructions. I have been contemplating starting a smart home but all the KZfaq videos I watched assumed I am a tech geek and thereby go over my head. I was about to give up when I came across your video. It was the right type I was looking for because you made it seem easy. Now I am pumped and going to get a Hue Bridge to start my project. Great video. How do I just get my TV to sync with my HDMI sync box without adding other HDMI devices like Xbox? I am just looking to sync my tv to use the built in app like Netflix.

@ambarishregmi1140 - Unfortunately there isn’t a way to sync unless you have an external device. There are newer TVs coming out that will have built in sync support from hue. Thanks for the feedback, I’m glad the video helped.

Great video presentation, but you left out the part of obtaining the app on a cell phone. I had the app on my Android, but it became corrupted, so I uninstalled it. However, I am not able to locate that same app on Play Store. I have another Android, and it still works fine. I searched Google and found that the Philips Hue app was deleted for a time, but I can't locate it. Has its name changed? All I find is Philips Hue Sync from Signify Netherlands and Hue Light App Remote Control from Smart Widget Labs, and these are not the same app as before.

Hey Qasim, I would like to use some Phillips hue bulbs at our vacation home some 350 miles away. Do I just get another bridge and just do the setup as normal?

@Gary Oden - Yes one bridge and have everything setup on that and you’ll be able to control the lights.

Is it possible to make zones based on things we are doing. For example eating so the zone is used for optimal light to eat. Etc

@L S - No but for that I’d recommend you create a theme within a room. For example inside “dining room” create a theme called “dinner” and have the lights adjusted so it’s perfect for when you have dinner 😊. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.

Hi .. I have 10 spot ceiling and 6 other hue lights . Is it possible to sync all together ?

@Ajin Devakumar - Yes you most certainly can do that. Any hue lights can be added to a zone which you can then have synced. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any other questions for me 😊.

Each night the lights go to full brightness and each night I reset them. I watched your video and doing what you say to do. Any suggestions, I must be doing something wrong…Im going into the room, adjusting the color (which does save) and then sliding the dial to adjust percentage brightness and then “X” ing out of the room. Thank you

I do have an automation set, scheduled to come on 7 days a week w/ starting sunset and end at sunrise ….but every time comes on it goes to full brightness…and I want it at 20%

I bought these after looking at multiple reviews. Bought 2 philips hue play bars. Man how we regret this. 2 bars cost us €125. 125 euros for two 'lamps' that don't have a simple on/off switch. Asks for location to operate. I understand bluetooth for the app to work but i do not wan't location on for what is essentially a lamp to work. I know people use it that way but i just want a light that i can dim and adjust color without it draining my battery. Man o man.. 125 euros and everything depends on your smartphone.

Is there a way to cycle through the colors of a hue scene? For example, when you click on a hue scene it has different color dots. Is there a way you can set your light strip (not the gradient light strip)to cycle through those colors?

@G. L. - They have dynamic scenes now so what you’ll see is a play icon on the scene. If you do that it’ll cycle through the different color of the scene.

Is it added to your scenes under the room? I checked and it has it. Go into the room, then scene gallery and when you select Honolulu click “add to scenes” and then you’ll be able to see it.

Stupid help question, but for the life of me I can’t get my app to let me slide that on/off button (the one in the upper right corner). It’s stuck at “off” and I think that’s what’s stopping me from being able to recognize my lights. Please any help would be appreciated.

@LeiaRose21 - All I can suggest is uninstalling and installing the app once again. Must be a bug because I personally haven’t had this issue. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽☺️.

Why the custom automation has ending time? What does it do?

@Tony Sundell - It’s in place so that if you don’t want the custom automation to run all the time then you can set the end time. If you want it to be available 24/7 then just set the time so that it’s available all day.

i just got the lightstrip Bande Lumineuse for my 65" tv and i cant get them to SYNC i dd have the HDMI Sync box and the Bridge trying to get the light's to sync with my tv app's but when i try to watch a movie light's will not work i have all so tryed to sync them with my xbox and still dose not sync up i have tryed to look up video's to show how to get them to work but no one is explaining how to setup the syncing the light's do i need to down load a app on my tv to sync the light's if i do so what app do i need?

@Sergio Klukas - Are you running the devices through the sync box because built in apps on the TV don’t work. You’ve got to have everything going through the sync box for it to sync with your lights.

@Sergio Klukas- No you have to connect your devices to the sync box in ports and then one hdmi from the out port of the box to tv. Only then will it actually sync properly.

@@QasimZafar that’s what I was saying you need an Xbox to run apps like the Disney Channel for them to work I can’t just use the apps on my TV. The way I have this set up as I have the HDMI sync box going to my TV HDMI one and I have my Xbox to the sync box on HDMI one so when I turn on the Xbox the lights turn off.

@Sergio Klukas - Ah ok I see, go under settings and then advanced sync settings and check to see if the “Dolby vision enhanced compatibility” is on. Having this on will fix issues with devices like Xbox or Apple TV because my Xbox was doing the same thing.

@lee mosher - Tap on a scene within a room to activate it, once it is you’ll see a pencil icon to the right of the scene. Tap that icon and down below select delete scene.

Philips hue "White Ambiance" bulbs are not white, they are orangish amber out of the box. The bridge requires you to push the manual button on the box to connect to it with your phone - WHY? After you download the app into your Android device and attempt to connect with the bridge, it warns you that you must update the firmware in the bridge OR ELSE. The app then refuses to respond while the bridge is updating. The bridge update then fails for unexplained reasons, upon which the app once again insists you update the bridge. By the time you download the app into a different android device, the bridge has gone permanently offline, and the Android device cannot even find it. So much for "smart" lighting.

@Christina Lindholdt Søe - Yes there are hue formulas that do it. I myself actually just manually do it when I’m on vacation by just using the app to turn on/off the lights in different rooms of the house. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.

@Daryl Byrd Sr - Just click into the room or zone, in the top right you’ll see three dots next to the on/off button. Select that and choose delete room or zone. Hope this helps and thanks for watching I really appreciate it 🙏🏽😊.

The app is good. But damn the design is terrible. I do prefer the old look.. Note: with the new update it is taking longer to connect to my bridge than before... Note2: connecting via cloud is taking waaay longer than before.

@Ladislav Svoboda - At first the new update and layout was a bit weird for me but I’ve gotten used to it and have come to like it more. For me personally I have noticed when I open the app it takes a second longer to connect to the bridge but I’ve not noticed any delays when connecting via the cloud.
