Anole VX is a chameleon, it drastically changes sound with different tips. Night and day difference. I am using the smallest sized ones from a different iem, most probably from tin hifi t2 plus or a similar one. I used to hate it earlier as it was fatiguing but now I can listen to it for hours without any issues.

Hi precog, what iem would you recommend for someone listening to classical music? Looking for orchestral/holographic stage with clear instrument separation especially for complex passages. Looking to get it in custom form factor because isolation required too. Already have the z1r. Thank you for your honest reviews. Cheers.

Sorry, I don’t really listen to classical much! U12t’s a safe recc though, and people seem to like it for that.

@@Precogvision thanks for the quick reply precog. I was trying to decide between the a18t and qdc vx. It's hard to audition the universal versions where I live. I've heard a lot of people prefer the u12t over the u18t so I'll have to find a way to try those. Classical renditions usually suffer the most from poor staging, coherence issues or separation in the transducer.

Truthfully, I like qdc 8SL more than VX and Gemini because it's more tonally balanced and warm and sounds great with vocals. 8SH and 8SS are pretty awesome too. Unfortunately it's harder to get access to qdcs other than VX.
@osxar71883 жыл бұрын
So are you saying that (in your opinion) 8SL is a better choice for people who like warm signature with vocals over the VX and gemini? My preference is warmth with vocal intimacy
@lolerinu3 жыл бұрын
@@osxar7188 Yes I would say so if you like more warmth and VX is something that you already like. Vocal intimacy is a common trait across qdc totls (VX,gemini,8SL,8SS,8SH), such that some people find them shouty (a more chesty vocal shoutiness as opposed to upper mid/heady shoutiness in moondrop/fearless iems). However for 8SL, higher female vocals can get relatively recessed compared to lower vocals because of the lower mids boost, plus it's also slightly V-shaped so vocals are not grand. If "warmth with vocal intimacy" is of top priority to you, I would recommend QDC 4SS. Compared to the totls, it sacrifices staging/imaging, air, bass detail and energy for intimacy, warmth, and supreme details in vocals (may be a bit dark for some people).

@@lolerinu Thanks for the detailed reply. Learned alot from it. I'm currently using the blessing 2 and i really enjoy the vocal presentation of it but i am looking for my end game ^^ i'll read up on the 4SS. Where's a good place to buy QDC iem's?

Really didn’t like EVE20. Very safe, but when IEMs a third its price compete with it for even technical ability, it’s kinda ehhh. VX is good if you prioritize max resolution. Also got the switches to play around with. Haven’t heard FA Major unfortunately, sorry.

I'm a Gemini owner and found the VX to be not a worthy upgrade (only slightly better resolution at the cost of harsh highs and toned down mids). qdc is releasing their next flagship soon: Anole 14 with 4 EST drivers and 10 BAs. Maybe I'll upgrade then if the resolution surpasses the KSE1500 to be an endgame. For now, Gemini is resolving enough rivaling U12t with better mids and neutrality.

The 14 is said to be one of the greatest iems in existence.
@greenboyson68972 жыл бұрын
@@kovy689 I heard that it is bassy which muds over the resolution. Probably strong BA bass which isn't anywhere near as textured as a dynamic driver. The Empire Ears Odin is what I'm saving for, it has everything I want. qdc disappointed me with this flagship without a DD. VX has well controlled bass but still lacks the rumble and physicality of a DD.

@@kovy689 The switches just boosts certain frequencies rather than precise like EQ. With EQ, boosting and lowering won't sound like it's intended to. I agree! I'd also like to extend my deepest apologies for not shilling your favorite IEM.

@@Precogvision It's just that at nearly all your reviews both written and video, you keep mentioning the u12t so it's pretty obvious you're stepping into fanboy territory, as a viewer I can't help but wonder how much of this is unconscious bias towards your favourite IEM, in short anything that doesn't sound like the u12t well doesn't get the u12t treatment. I see your name and I already know how the review will go. btw real mature reaction, that's another thing that makes me think you're nothing but a glorified fanboy.
@Precogvision3 жыл бұрын
@@terryRBNF In all seriousness then, please think of it as a benchmark. While it might seem idealistic to assess a product (IEM) of its own merit; unfortunately, unless there is a basis of comparison, any such review is fairly useless. There needs to be a standard - a benchmark - which is adhered to, and the U12t is that standard for me. And last I checked, there was nothing wrong with having a favorite IEM. On another note, if an IEM does not sound alike or measure up in particular aspects relative to the U12t, it does not mean said IEM won't be looked upon favorably in my reviews. Prime examples include the Empire Ears Odin, CA Andromeda 2020, and the Moondrop S8 just to name a few. I've also praised a plethora of budget-oriented IEMs like the Sony MH755, ER2XR, Starfield, and Yume. Suffice it to say that if an IEM sounds good to my ears, I will note so. I hope this serves to edify; I'm really not sure where these comments are coming from, but I've clearly struck a nerve.

@@Precogvision If by struck a nerve you're saying I have my own agenda I don't. Just an observation since I've been researching the u12t and other IEMS and I routinely see your byline and videos come up.

@@terryRBNF Gotcha! That being the case, I want to point out that the first line of my U12t review literally reads, "It's no secret that the 64 Audio U12t one of my favorite IEMs." Suffice it to say that should address any unconscious biases. As always, then, I recommend taking my reviews - or any review - with a grain of salt. Extrapolate and draw comparisons; ultimately, there is also no substitute for actually hearing things for yourself. :)
