In today's episode of The Average Garage I fit a Provent 200 catch can by Mann and Hummell to a QE pajero sport. Also I explain where needs to be modified on some vehicles.
I'n not 100% happy with the filming of this video so may redo it in the future.

As always a very informative vid. Thanks mate. I have had a Provent fitted to my PS for about 5000km but rather than oil I get water or condensation out the drain????

this is another bonus, shorter trips will accumulate moisture form the atmosphere as well as condensation in your engine, this usually burns off from driving long distances

I know there reason for and against it but can you route the drain back into the case? Is there a port you can hook into or maybe the turbo drain?

@@T.A.G Thanks for that! I've been doing some research for my QF and seems like some stores will sell just the filter vs the whole kit. Where did you purchase the whole kit and how much did you end up paying? I'm in Sydney. Thanks!

Not sure mate. Same size as factory hose though as to prevent restriction

This is a provent 200 mate. I got mine from eBay but make sure you get genuine western filters brand. If its under $250 its probably fake

hey mate, i fitted mine at 90k, theyre useful at any time however more effective if used earlier, but it will prevent build up getting worse :) theyre around $300~

We follow your video. Before i install provent 200 on my montero sport 2016 rpm is 95-100 after installation rpm is 65-85 its is good or bad?

thats fine, RPM will change due to many factors which is completely normal, Engine temp, ambient temp, load, a.c etc :)

95-100 rpm is very low. did you mean 950-1000??

I assume so. These engines won't idle at 100 rpm haha

Hi Avgar, nice car. I’m enjoying mine too (2020 QF) i’m seeing a couple of web sites conflicting with the model Provent to use, difference being 14 and 14M. Interestingly 1 site says the triton manual model (14M) is used for the Pajero sport. I guess the difference may be the bracket. The one you put on for your mate in this video fits pretty well. Which one is it please. Really helpful and clear vid. Thanks, enjoy the car mate

Hey mate, western filter will be able to help.you out. I think it's theanual triton one that fits the pajero sport. But I can't be quoted on that. Western filters will have the answer though:)

Hi Mate, just some feedback, they said it is the triton manual (14M) that also fits to Paj Sport, got it just gotta put it on now, which your video has made pretty easy. Thanks mate. Have a good one.

THE INLET TO YOUR OIL SEPARATOR SHOULD BE ON THE MIDDLE AND NOT ON TOP NOZZLE.. THE OIL FROM CRANK SHAFT SHOULD FLOW DOWN BY GRAVITY. THE EXHAUST OF YOUR OIL SEPARATOR SHOULD BE THE TOP NOZZLE. AIR SHOULD FLOW UP ACROSS THE FILTER UP TO AVOID PICKING UP THE OIL MIST. YOU CAN USE THE STAINLESS SCRUBBER USE FOR WASHING DISHES AS YOUR INNER FILTER TO CATCH THE OIL MIST.

Haha. Cheers. Old mate doesn't know what internal baffling is by the looks, or that the gravity of the caught oil would flow straight into the engine negating the catch can 🤣🤣

Hey mate, finally got my catch can, do you recommend any additives to run through the oil/motor before or after installing it, I have been told that some places recommend some type of clean? Mines a 2016 with almost 90,000 on it, Adam

No mate, but a decent trip with some load will help, get that engine working! Chuck a trailer or camper on and go for a trip if you can. A bit of extra load on a decent trip to get everything to a good temp for a decent trip is the best thing you can do

@@T.A.G Hey, all went well installing the catch can but now I'm feeling small vibrations in the brake & accelerator pedals, have you also noticed that is have I done something wrong maybe tightening things to tightly? Much appreciate any advice

@@adambawden3895 I never noticed it personally but I've heard of many cases of this happening. Make sure the bracket isnt touching anywhere it shouldn't be around the master cylinder and also make sure the hoses are long enough so that they're not pulling on the catch can :)

Definitely mate. The sooner the better. They are essential to keep the engine running at peak performance and increase engine life

@@T.A.G Thanks. One more thing I know this is not related to the video but I saw your change oil video for your pajero. may I ask what is the size and material of the sump drain plug gasket? I already got the filter and I want to find by myself rather than buying from the dealer.
