by far he had the most memorable story. Elijah Wood was actually a frightening killer, too. it was crazy thinking like wtf this little nerd is actually a deadly agile psychopath. it was an awesome foil to Marv's strength to the point that Marv had to get inventive to really counter him

@@scenczyk1429 If you haven't read Sin City, you have no idea what you're talking about. The watchmen didn't take every single camera angle and shot. It didn't even come close. It was a great adaptation but it took like 45% angles from the book for big memorable moments. Sin City took 100%. I think there are only 2-3 shots in the whole movie that don't have a direct 1-1 representation in the comic.

thats what i was thinking... in fact the thing i hated about sin city 2 the most was not having clive owen reprise his role (even if the character did supposedly have cosmetic face change surgery...his voice was absent)

Heath Ledger's performance was the masterpiece, the film itself was kinda an "ehh" with a positive upwards inflection on the end. Much like the rest of Nolan's filmography.

Totally agree with you on Michael Madsen. He seemed so uncomfortable. And I think he is a highly underrated actor, especially with his performance in Donnie Brasco.

@@sliptrick6711 That was one thing I actually liked about the film. As much as I felt it was overstuffed and uninteresting in a lot of places, the ending they went with in the movie was a lot more grounded and made sense.

To it's detriment at some points. Some shots and special effects look REALLY jarring and goofy. Still love both movies. Dame is underrated in my opinion

@@marcdumont2275 I've a strong feeling of ambivalence on that point... On one hand I'm inclined to agree that omitting the giant squid monsters felt much more grounded, but on the other... It kind of undermined the core premise of Ozymandias' master plan, no? His conviction that humanity could only unite if faced with a terrifying, unrecognizable common enemy - one with unknowable origins, capabilities, and intentions - was the sole purpose behind the convoluted machinations... And while I'm not sure if I agree, it's certainly even harder to believe that the threat of one sad blue boi would keep nations off each others' throats for long. John's too much of a known entity, shit just knowing to be on the lookout for a blue man flying through outer space changes the dynamic entirely. Added to that, it almost seems like Ozzy could've safely skipped all the subterfuge and just talked John into it. The blue fella was already pretty dissociated from the sanctity of human life - only took 5 minutes to convince him at the end, granted he was backed into a corner but seemed to fully embrace the premise. What if Veidt had put together a PowerPoint presentation and talked for, like... An hour? All he really needed in the movie version was John's cooperation and some bombs, no logistics of bio-engineering and teleporting massive self-destructive eldritch horrors. Well... That turned into more of a rant than I intended. But I guess to sum it up, the comic ending was definitely ridiculous, but the movie not having a ridiculous ending almost made everything _before_ the end ridiculous. I don't know which way's better; it's kinda a catch-22.

@@danburnett2492I don’t think it’s The Spirit although that at first certainly seems like a very logical guess. The only thing that makes me think it’s not that though is the fact that The Spirit was directed by Frank Miller…who obviously wrote the comic Sin City and then worked with Robert Rodriguez extensively throughout Sin City’s production to the point where Rodriguez ended up quitting the Director’s Guild cause they wouldn’t allow him to give Miller a co-directing credit. I just can’t see Miller being so much a part of making Sin City and then turning around and essentially forgetting it exists or at least it slipping his mind how amazingly it portrayed comic books onscreen…even though he was a huge part of making all that happen.

That comic was actually adapting the movie. The particular story that the movie used was an original adaptation of the ancient work by Roger Avary and Neil Gaiman. Therefore…I don’t at all think it’s Beowulf.

It may have been Snyder’s Watchmen which was a few years after Sin City. The only motion capture though was Dr Manhattan which 100% needed to be motion capture, regardless of what Tarantino says

I totally agree man It's all about politics nowadays in Hollywood. I stopped watching Hollywood and started watching South Korean content.

He has a podcast called the video archives podcast where they talk about movies for about 2 hours every other week and I believe had long said only wants ten movies on his resume
