Just here to say that my dad was an avid watcher since 2014. He passed last year, May 23 2021. As I went through his belongings, I found notebook after notebook full of notes and diagrams of takeaways from your videos. He was subscribed and would always message me about things he saw and how great you were at what you do. My father, at the time he passed, was a truck driver. Prior to that he was a diesel mechanic, had certificates for just about anything having to do with vehicles, trucks, air conditioning and so much more. I want to thank you for your videos and knowledge you share on your channel. You kept my father company and kept him learning in probably some of the darkest days while homeless and transitioning to low income housing. You kept him eager to learn more than he already knew and my dad was always excited to share what he learned from you. While he may have just been one subscribed viewer, you were something he looked forward to and you will never know how much that means to me. Thank you again.

Kathy, I am so sorry for the loss of your father. Thank you so much for sharing this with me. I feel like this was ordained for me this morning. Doubts about what I do and how I do it, creep in from time to time. Usually when I focus on the one negative comment out of the thousand good ones. But what a great reminder for me to know of the positive effect this is having on so many lives. Many that I don't even know about! What was your father's name? I want to remember him. I want to pray for your family this morning: Thank you Lord that you say that you are a Father to the fatherless. This truth has always been close to me. That you take special care of us. I pray for a peace and comfort today for Kathy and her family, one where you remind her that because you sent your son Jesus to die in our place, that we can raise again, just like Him and that we can proclaim "oh death, where is your sting". Remind us all to have an eternal perspective today and to store our treasures in heaven where moth and rust will not destroy it. Help us to be loving and caring to others and to think more highly of them, than of ourselves. Help us to live today as if it is our last, putting selfish desires aside and looking for ways to build others up, especially with our family and friends. Help us to forgive too Father, as you have forgiven us. And finally remind us that our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all and that part of that glory is to be reunited with our loved ones for eternity. May the peace you offer rest with Kathy and her family today. Amen

@@ScannerDanner Amen. Thank you for the prayer. My fathers name is Rafael Valenzuela. He was by my standards one of the hardest working men I have known. He could fix anything that was brought to him. He spent countless hours reading, writing, researching. He did not compliment just anyone. He was very particular about his craft and I think with his age and your videos, you helped him feel more confident in moving forward with new gadgets and new ways to diagnose and learn. He was 68 years old. I hope to learn a lot as it was his dream that I learn a thing or two about what he loved. So far with the tools he's left behind I've been able to do my own brakes, oil changes, plug and coil replacements, O2 sensor replacement, and probably more on our Odyssey lol and I have not done a thing to a vehicle since I was a child and he would take me along to house calls. It's very bittersweet that he has given me the tools to learn his craft in this way. But life and God have plans and this was it for us. I hope he is still watching from Heaven and that you continue to share what you love doing. You've got a subscriber for life here! Thank you.

@scannerdanner. When you dont think your posts matter sometimes...Im here to tell you "they do"! I dont post but do watch you videos often. I have a 16' F150 and getting misfire under load. Saw the code P0305 (cylinder 5). I swapped the coil to number 4. test drove it, and the code moved to number 4. BAM. Ordered new coils and saved me a ton of money plus the satisfaction I get from doing it myself. There are so many people that do the same from your videos. Keep up the great work and a big THANKS!

This was a great learning experience for me. I have the same 04 tundra but with the 6 cylinder. I also have the same problem, misfire on 2. When I got the truck, I was told that a plug blew so I bought the taping kit and took care of that part but I can get up in the morning and take the truck to the grocery store and it’ll run fine until I try to leave. It’s cross your fingers time! I did order everything I need, except plugs, they are new, to change them all. I wish y’all were here in Lafayette, La., I certainly would be leaving my truck with you guys. I’m disabled and this is going to be hard labor for me and I have no one to help with it. People don't seem to understand that the main reason you can get it done so fast is because of the advanced tools and knowing how to use them. So when you call a technician, you're actually paying for his expensive investment in tools and his long hours he dedicated to training... and honestly, by the time you consider the drive time to get there, picking up all your tools, and the driving time it takes to get to the next job-- You've burned more than that hours pay, even if it only took you 30 mins to nail it down. When I did construction repairs, I always told them there's a 2 hour minimum; and I usually had 5 guys and charged $35 per guy. It's not even worth dragging out all the tools for less than that.

Just a heads up on a 2017 dodge journey for example , using an Autel scan tool , I had to exit specific make model and enter global OBD II to view misfire counts in mode 6. The data in mode 6 was plain English and I would just enter, exit and re-enter to get updated counts. Might be worth a shot on other vehicles that do not give misfire counters in live data

Forscan is Ford specific, but not done by Ford. It was created by a russian gentleman, and is no longer able to process payments due to the sanctions on Russia. from the accent to the state inspection sign on the wall behind you this video was very nostalgic to watch. My cousins lived in Penn Hills, I lived in Pittsburgh but had to move 23 years ago for work and I do miss it. But I don't miss those state inspections. Just had to pause and say this, now I do hope you answer my question that I have been searching for hours to know. Either I tested my COP coils wrong or I have some bad coils. They do have 130k miles on the original plugs I think. I tested 18M ohms on one side and 1.7k ohms on the other and thought that was good, some videos are saying it should read .5 ohms and 16k ohms not M so I just need a professional opinion testing the same coil on plug coils that it seems no one else has ever posted online before.

@@Mikej1592 your doing resistance testing on the plugs right? It's a test I literally never use. And there are 130k on them. I don't understand what you're trying to prove. A bad plug can be proved out by moving it to a different cylinder
@Mikej1592
@Mikej1592 9 ай бұрын
@@ScannerDanner why would anyone test the resistance of a plug, did I not explain that I wanted to test the resistance of my coil on plug ignition coils windings? I can't find the specs anywhere, all of mine match but are WAY higher than what people online have said about other coils. Mine measure 1.7k ohms and either they are all bad to the point a misfire is not detectable or they are all just fine. I am changing out the plugs and while I am in there I wanted to do as much PM as necessary without going bankrupt. It's bad enough plugs are $8 to $12 each and at $30 each a set of 6 coils is something I would rather not expense if I didn't need to. Thanks for replying to me though. My Honda 3.5 V6 is just about that magic 130k miles mark and the plugs are likely factory supplied. Coils are original Hitachi CM11-213's if you have any info you could share I would be eternally grateful. thank you.
@ScannerDanner
@ScannerDanner 9 ай бұрын
@@Mikej1592 lol, I misunderstood as you threw in a sentence in between about 130k spark plugs, then proceeded to talk about resistance. My fault. Okay, first thing, the resistance test of ignition coils is poor at best. If it measures bad, it is bad, BUT It can measure good and still be bad, as the ohmmeter does not stress the windings. Also, you can have carbon tracking and shorting of a secondary winding that the ohmmeter would also totally miss. So I do not do ignition coil resistance testing for this reason. Secondly if you have 3 or 4 pin COP ignition coils, you cannot accurately measure the primary winding, because there is a transistor inside of the coil that would be switched off and blocking you from measuring that winding. If you have a constant misfire that you are trying to fix, move some plugs and coils around and see if it follows. Like in this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oMx5epOV0MWUaac.html

Brothers, I have an 03 Sequoia that has a key ignition switch issue that I had fixed and now the immobilizer will not let the vehicle start. I do not know what to do about it. I have original key. I am the owner with the title buy the way. How do I get my vehicle to recognize the key again? It has 300,000+ miles on it but ran very strong before I pulled the ignition key switch.

Rewatching and just wanted to comment. I've done coil swaps and the misfire goes away. Then it's down to close up visual inspection for arcing, burn marks, corrosion on the spring or plug tip etc And resistance checks. And spark plug inspection. I've been lucky & sometimes you talk them into plugs & coils bc they were installed at the same time originally, usually, and go bad near same times. Excluding external damage etc.

COP coil on plug - sometimes will burn right through the insulation . Also if you can remove the insulation , you can see the spring that goes from the coil to the plug , is arcing . That cheap spring is designed to fail . COP is actually a lie , there has to be something between the two ; it use to be a high quality spark plug cable . Now it is just a cheap spring

I almost replaced a ECM on a corolla because of no injector pulse #1Cyl from the ECM. The car would hardly move. I switched coils in case the ECU turned of the injector due to misfire code. The misfire and no injector pulse pulse moved with the coil. Replaced 1 coil. The car then was drive able but the #4 coil misfired under load. Then i had a 352 code in another coil. At first i only had a 301 and 1604 code. Replacing the battery fixed the 1604. The battery would drop from 12.6 to 10v with a headlight load. no voltage drop in the cables. Batteries don't seem to last 3 years anymore.

Doctors , lawyers and other suit people get paid for their time. We should be no different. If anything, our jobs are harder. We cannot talk to our clients. We deal with owners who are not always forthcoming or third party with a scanner.
