Because the organization has no clue what they are doing, the owner doesn’t care, the GM was never qualified in the first place. There’s a reason Messier doesn’t go into the locker room anymore. The organization at this point in time is 75-80% DEI employment

Clearly Drury thinks he can just stick some forward with Krieder and Zibanejad and we'll win a championship? Giving away Buchnevich was a telling sign of this guy's rational on this matter.

They got him because of his playoff scoring and experience. He won a cup a year ago with Vegas knights. They trade him to Pittsburgh and he has a disaster year there. He only scored 13 goals last season and Pittsburgh misses the playoffs. I hope he still has it or they just gave up a 2nd round for nothing.

i have no issues with getting smith my 2 problems are: 1. if they were eyeing him for a while and were going to give up assets why not go for him at last trade deadline? 2. they are literally wiping out their cupboard of draft pick capital. sooner or later they will need to replenish it.

Tell me I'm crazy.....Rangers had 12.8 mil in cap space...After seeing what Zadorov & Bertuzzi signed for, We could have had both of them and had money left over, then trade Trouba, And get another winger with what you had left, Terrible job by Drury!!

@@jamessollazzo4860 The second line is Trocheck,Lafreniere and Panarin. Smith is not replacing any of them. He’s either a third liner or he is playing on top line with Zib and Kreider. Smith is definitely not the guy for the top line. I can’t imagine Drury thinks this fills the top line RW void, let’s hope.

Rangers fans think that every player wants to play for us and that we don’t even try to go after these guys. I bet you every guy you name was looked at. We don’t have the cap to make a big move like stammer for 8m. Zucker doesn’t do it for me. Mantha i like but we probably end up with trouba on the team. Smith had his 2nd best 5v5 seasons of his career last year. 85% of his assists were first assists. He fits the 2-1-2 to go with Mika/Kreids. To say he is a 3rd lime guy is naive considering the lines ahead of him. Its also a buy low on offensive production. He had a outlier yr with shooting% and finishing rate. Get back to the median and he puts up 60pts or more easily this year.

This is the deal Drury usually overpays for and makes at the deadline, not on July 1st. Pure desperation. Seems like the word is out on NY. I don't think anyone who is a serious competitor with options wants to come here right now, especially to play with 2 losers like Mika and Kreider. The rest of the league has taken notice that the leaders of this team do not show up when push comes to shove. How could they not?

Drury has been an embarrassment since day 1 and continues to triple down with the same core and make the same mistakes. He's done nothing but cough up draft pick after draft pick and make one questionable move after another. He's gifted $3.6 mil cap space and tosses it away along with 2 picks for a 33 year old who got it done somewhere else. Sounds about par for the course in Rangerland.

We won’t win with this core. 3rd pair D making $8M and Igor will be paid 14% of the team spend. Adding 2 bottom feeding forwards won’t put us over the top let alone compete against teams that vastly improved yesterday. My prediction is that we will barely make the playoffs if not altogether miss it. If we do then a quick exit. Repeat and rinse until Igor retires in 10 years.
