Thanks for the update Carlos. Your videos are a wealth of knowledge. Whether it's how you're fixing something or how you're running your business, I always learn something.

Most lawn care people that I have dealt with are nothing but scam folks. I have one guy with no help that helps me twice a month to take care of some weeds and trimming. All the rest ripped me off. Stay strong and keep the faith sir. Thanks for sharing.

I quit doing lawn care years ago. I enjoy fixing them more than mowing. After finding out I have grass allergies, I called it quits. When I cannot breathe after being covered in dirt and grass ,As well as my eyes swelling shut. I wear gloves and damp down the deck before scraping it down. I agree with you as far as lawn care. It's not worth it any more. I had an idiot blowing up my two stroke equipment with regular gas. When you get losers working for you costing you money.

Completely understand the decision and hope everything works out for you. It sucks you have to deal with all that, just a good guy trying to make an honest living. Would like to see your new shop area once it's all built and good to go.

The mobile small engine repair business is great. I've been at it for year's and would never own a shop to stack up junk. With the extremely low overhead and higher profit margin I will go to them and slap a wrench in their driveway. I spread out a liquid absorbent blanket and get to fixing. Mostly to keep my clothes clean from dirty ground.

Ok , the neighbor down the road that complain,think about this,If the wife had a day-care business. You would not mind the traffic going pass your house. Some people are jealous that you like what you do & being a Christian is the trails we must endure. Keep being strong in your fatih & remember to take one day at a time.

Hiring decent employees has been getting harder each year since the government declared a "war" on poverty 50 years ago and started competing with the private sector for labor. Why work when the government will provide food, housing, drugs & spending money.

You’re right. I have a small engine repair shop. You can’t find good qualified help. I’ve had guys want me to hire them. They have those cute little certificates you get for a few weeks of training at Briggs and Stratton or Kohler or Honda or wherever and they’re just not that great at mechanic work. I’d rather have someone that has been twisting wrenches since they were a kid. Lol

Sounds like your work is speaking for you. The other guy is doing business, bad business. I picked up my mower from the dealer and they left my 52 out in the weather for 2 and a half weeks rain and all. Needless to say that my battery was dead when I picked it up.

I have a question regarding your first video. You mentioned some training you did or courses you took through Penn foster. I've been looking into getting into small engine repair as a side gig and thats the only "program" I can find to work with my schedule. Would you say the course was worth the time and $? Love the videos they are full of great information especially on the business side of the shop. Thank you and God bless.

If u have a good understanding of mechanics, might not be worth it. But if u gonna do warranty work and get certified, it gets u ready for test. But if u just gonna repair as a hobby.. Experience is the best teacher..

Man I hear ya! Have to think of the customers property as well as the liability you carry as a business owner if anything should happen... Plus if someone is drunk or high and hurts themselves that is again going to come back on the owner... I am in the same boat, different industry but run into the same issues....It is not just the folks with a drug or drinking problem it is also when you find a good worker hanging onto them!! It costs money to retain gold help....Joe Blow comes along and offers a couple bucks an hour more there goes your good employee so the cost to keep good help keeps going up.... Not to mention cost of benefits etc. keeps rising.... We netted 2.5 million with a payroll cost of 37% last year....Was 32% the year before and 28% the year before that!

Everyone gets a 1099. No workers comp it’s not payroll! Been paying that way for years
@clsmallenginerepair3814
@clsmallenginerepair3814 3 жыл бұрын
Might wanna look that up,, If u dictate when an where someone works, theyre an employee. 1099 is for independant contractors, so they work when and where they want.
@clsmallenginerepair3814
@clsmallenginerepair3814 3 жыл бұрын
A 1099 employee is one that doesn't fall under normal employment classification rules. Independent contractors are 1099 employees. Instead of having a permanent worker that takes direction from the company, your business would use an independent contractor who works under their own guidance
