Lmao my last job lost me because they wouldn't do shit about workplace harassment + denying me my full workers' rights and accommodations (I have autism ) we were already severely understaffed (housekeepers in a care facility) and the pay was ABYSMAL for full time work. $600 a month is NOT enough for rent, let alone bills or food. (Luckily I live with family so it wasn't an issue) I was one of maybe two housekeepers out of our whole thing that actually CLEANED-cleaned (Given I was 19 my back and knees didn't hate me then) and the other one who did a great job with cleaning quit (don't remember what for) and the workplace harassment and denial of the other stuff got to me after around a year. My breaking point was when my boss *forbade* me from attending a work-related event that'd have taken place *during my lunch break.* Aka when I was clocked out, still IN the building and it was an event employees of all sorts (housekeepers, physical therapists, ect) were allowed to join in on. So I wrote out my two weeks notice and attended the event anyhow

Backyard: With the campfire logs, they definitely felt offended with OP asking them to postpone for a bit and thought this was their own petty revenge. Like, not only building a fire that was blowing smoke into OP's place, but also breaking fire safety laws. Hope that fire was worth it because they'll never have that fire ever again (unless they want to throw away money in the form of fines, then go ahead)

I don't know, I feel like OP's lying. The fact that they didn't call the police and/or fire department for what seems like an illegal burning is incredibly telling. There's a distinct Karen energy to it. I think the REAL story is that OP started harassing their neighbors over what was probably a reasonable and legal use of a fire pit. Maybe it was for the dog, maybe it wasn't.
@dracko158
@dracko158 Ай бұрын
Story 6: That's really sad, OP wanted to do something special for his dog, only to be ruined by the neighbors who prolonged the burning on purpose just to be AHs. Very petty revenge though, I hope the neighbors lives with the fact that they denied a dying dog of his special day.

I'm pretty sure there's also an ordinance that states you can't leave a fire unsupervised on your property either because how can you control the fire if you can't see it? With that aside, it's painstakingly clear they did it out of spite. They saw a kid and his dog out and thought, "imma smoke em out." Some people are just energetic to accountability

The dog story: I would call the fire department on non-emergency line after first two hours, and explain the situation. S2: I find the pettiness delightfully fun. But I feel so infuriated at the mother because she’s staying with a cruel, perverted good-for-nothing trash and the poor four year old girl is getting so much abuse from him. Coming from someone who is still getting over years and years of verbal, mental, and emotional abuse from a sadistic and very immature ex sperm donor, that girl will be the same if her mother doesn’t stand up and leave. And don’t give me “she’s scared of him”, or “she might not have anywhere to go”. Her child should always come first, and there’s shelters for her to stay.
@stevenandcarminabeedle9089
@stevenandcarminabeedle9089 Ай бұрын
Except that if he’s threatening her in such a way she may feel like she is putting her child first. There’s not nearly enough information to go off of. I’m so sorry for whatever happened to you and that maybe your mother couldn’t leave as soon as she might’ve wanted, but every single situation is so different all we can do is support her and hope he is well on his way to being her ex by now.

@@stevenandcarminabeedle9089 Thank you, it truly means a lot. And i do understand what you mea. It did take her till i was around 13-15 when she finally was able to divorce him, but the damage had already been done, plus the court(even with all the evidence of his horrible abuse towards us)hated kids so we were still forced to see him over the weekends until we were old enough to make our decisions. She is a great mother, just took her too long to see how bad our lives were with “him”. I just feel so angry, and also sad that mothers and fathers too that deal with that kind of abuse and kids are involved. Ive read stories that kids in those kinds of homes and their mothers/fathers continued to stay in a very toxic relationship so they had to resort to either run away, or fight through it till their able to move out. Some dont ever talk to their parents cause they believe they failed them, which is why i never talked to the trash who ruined my childhood. I do hope she does leave him and that poor girl wont be too damaged.

She would always talk over the trout guide at points, either jumped in or pushed other aside while taking pictures, always loudly complained about stuff, etc. It took so much restraint to not cuss her out because she almost knocked me down when I had a really good shot lined up. One example: an eye injection I have to get every year or so to help preent malecular degeneration costs me about $3300 AFTER Medicare pays its share, while in the Philippines, the same injection (done the EXACT SAME WAY AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS) costs me $270 out of pocket TOTAL (NO insurance whatsoever). Story 8: queue jumping Almost eight years ago I was waiting in line at the corner store/gas station by my house. All of us who are regulars will line up down the candy aisle to wait for the next open register (there were three at the time), with the first person standing slightly out. This left plenty of room for folks entering to go to the coffee and sodas. On this, VERY, hot Sunday afternoon in July I was standing, first in line with my husband. I had a soda in my hand and my husband was holding his own drink and several snacks as we knew the next several hours were bound to be long. Well, the person checking out finishes and this guy, early twenties, just steps up and goes to the counter. Mind you, the queue is six people deep. I say, "Excuse me, there is a line." He turns around smirking, because what am I going to do about it, right? Except he instead sees a 42 week pregnant woman. (The long hours were because I was going to the hospital to be induced.) He just sort of withered as the clerk just looked at him with contempt (the clerk had been there most mornings I went in to grab breakfast on my way to work) and he was getting no sympathy from anyone else. He just slunk to the back of the line. It wasn't glorious or impressive. But it is a fun memory from a very long 96 hours. (96 from induction to release from hospital.)

I really feel that dog story. Years ago I had to put down my childhood dog, and the person doing the procedure was kind enough to do a house call. We wanted to have our dog enjoy the backyard as she fell asleep because she loved being out there. Unfortunately my Karen neighbor threw a fit. I was living in a duplex at the time, and the backyard was shared space. She startes going off about how she didn't want her two boys to 'witness death' at such a young age, saying they would be traumatized for life if my dog passed away in the backyard. Her youngest was 10, and her kids weren't even outside! She was also the landlord's sister-in-law, and she threatened to call the landlord and get us in trouble with him. So instead of my dog enjoying her last moments in her favorite spot we took her back inside the house and had it done inside...

When I was in graduate school, I drove charter motor coach. The charter industry has high times and low times. Greyhound has high times and low times. They cross perfectly. So, one Christmas area, since the company I drove for picked up overflow routes for Greyhound. Our coaches were a whole lot nicer than the Greyhound coaches. I was supposed to go from Columbus, Ohio to Saint Louis, Missouri (a nice strait shot across I-70). It was a, "local" trip (which means stopping at every small, podunk town along the route). When I arrived at the Columbus terminal, I was put on an, "express" to Dayton, Ohio (again, a nice strait shot across I-70). The, "local" was scheduled to take about five hours. The, "express," with no stops took about 2.5 hours. So we loaded up, I put on a movie (why not? I had TVs for that and had a VHS tape in my driver bag) and drove straight to Dayton. We were in Dayton THREE HOURS EARLY!!! One woman got off the bus, found the terminal manager and I witnessed as she, "Karened" her way through complaining, not about the driving, not about the movie, not about the temperature inside the coach, not about me, the driver, but get this--that we were three hours early!!! I'm quite sure she would have complained about being given a glass of ice water if she was standing in fire and brimstone in the midsts of hell. (Actually, she was probably looking for that extra three hours to take another hit of heroin.)

Just because it’s squick to you, just because it’s transactional and not emotional, doesn’t mean that only your feelings matter. Hell, it’s barely any of your business at all.

Let me tell you a story on why you ALWAYS treat the people who work with you with respect. I am just ending my first year as a school night custodian and have a job as a media attendant lined up for another school. But that isn't important. What is important is this one teacher in my assigned hall. Let's call her Ms.T for tattletale. You would think an elementary school teacher and supposed hater of drama would learn not to tell tall tales and tattle but hey. Anyway, my job in a classroom is to wipe desks, sweep floors, take out trash, and occasionally mop when needed. What I normally do is treat each room like it's my moms room ( a teacher herself) and do all this plus boards, counters, any full pencil sharpeners, and had a mop schedule so each room had a decent amount of mops a week with a graffiti remover that removes crayon and all other marks (time doesn't allow an everyday). Well Ms. K left one day ad came back without me noticing that night, at the time I had already but the super slippery graffiti remover on the trouble spots. She then went around to anyone who would listen the next day about how dangerous it was and how I shouldn't be allowed to put that down if teachers are there... well if you come back how was I to know? Magic apparently. So after a 'talk' with my supervisor I stopped doing the graffiti remover and she had the worst looking floors ever. She complained once and after I told her that since I can't know when she is going to come back and she finds it dangerous, I found it safest to not do so at all. Shut her right up. I have several other stories about her but I feel this fits petty revenge the best. By the end of the year I did the bare minimum in her class and made sure she knew how much I did for everyone else through gossip.

Alas, my opinion is probably not popular, though that might also be because I am one of those weirdos who doesn't care as much about age differences provided everyone's above the age of consent. We set aside so many learning years, and if your parents haven't prepped you in that time for the real world, then they've failed you. Like I said, honesty is more important to me than two consenting adults who are fully aware of what the other wants.

Not as dramatic as The Food Opie, but a bud worked odd hours at his old place because a) he was nocturnal and liked working later, and b) they needed coverage for some Very Big Clients after-hours. So he made his own hours to satisfy both needs. New Manager starts "laying down the law" and forces him to come in at 9 instead of noon or later. Kfine, he's now a 9-5er. Immediately stops babysitting processes going on in the evening. Immediately stops being available after-hours for the client *and* management. Keeps to strict 9-5 hours as he was told. New Manager tries armtwisting him to still do that work after-hours. Nope. Not gonna happen. Processes get stuck and only get fixed the next morning, so all the stuff that could've been processed now happens during the day with everyone else using the system too, bogging it down. VIP Client is furious not having support/coverage at odd hours, and he just tells them he was ordered to adjust his hours to 9-5, so that's what he had to do. New Manager still wouldn't budge, gets HR involved, has to take 9-5er's side that they can't force him to work after-hours when he's putting in his mandated hours. Tension, he finds another job, Bad Things happen at the old job, the usual. Okay, it *sounds* dramatic, but it wasn't, at least not the way he was telling it. Was just "You asked for it, so you got it".
