When I was young, my paternal grandma had the same outhouse set up OP described, except her spigot was a pump and she only had a very small "truck farm" behind her home. She did not get indoor plumbing until I was a teen. When OP described this it brought back such a strong flood of memories of my grandma (not plumbing related, of course lol), I just had to stop and profusely thank OP for telling this story. So... to my gram...I'm still here kicking and loving 'ya.
