With so many new trappers trying to put their experiences, ideas, system etc. for fur harvesting on this channel, its nice to see a little "gray hair" on Dale sharing what he knows. Time and shoe leather are irreplaceable in everything in the outdoors. Dale is very good at showing the methods AND areas that have worked for him so you have to give him a thumbs up for showing that "Gray Hair".

Another great video Dale. Wish we had coon numbers here in Montana like you do in Iowa. You bring a whole new meaning to the term "blanket setting."

Lol you're welcome Mark. Yea i normally run 300-350 sets. The most i ever had out on opening day was 386. I was 927 raccoon 63 Mink 102 rats 14 beaver 7 fox and 9 coyotes in 30 days here in iowa that year. Then went south and caught another 300 raccoon 15 otter 17 cats 300 and some odd beaver that same year. It takes a lot of steel to run like that.

Thanks for the set tips! I run in Illinois so right of way trapping isn't in my play book. But I sure do plan on setting heavy for coon this year. I think I saw your gonna be at the IA convention in Sept? If so I look forward to meeting you.

Yepper that would be a great way to pile up the coon. I'm trying as hard as possible to swing it my way, but just isn't going to work for Beaver!!! LOL Good Video for coon Trappers tho!!!

Don't your ditchs get mowed,and don't you have a 33' right of way from the center of the road even if the fence is right on the shoulder.?

Our ditches will get mowed a lot of times in late October and sadly even into November. I lose some traps that way. Yes we have 33 ft row.

Yes I do Mark. More than anything just because they get bored at home and are a pain in the butt for my wife to handle lol.

It's not that bad. On the coon line they mostly just ride in the truck for company. It gives them a job or so they think anyway
