Have fun! I certainly did making this, its normally just used on the tops of a dessert for presentation so i wanted to see if i could make it flexible again in order to use around the outside of a cake and it worked. Excellent for those who may not have a Cake Lace mat, a great alternative during the `cost of living`

When you get the chance it is definitely one to give a try , it's really effective but for those who may not own any cake lace mats it's a natural way to get a similar effect just using a baking pan x

I was wanting a Gold for this cake but definitely try it in different colours, pinks and greens are AMAZING and work great on a under the sea themed cake.

@@champikaliyanage1360 a steamer is more controlled and even, it's just water but it keeps your work neat. It can be a very good investment

Can I use it on buttercream ?

I havnt tried it but I don't see why not, obviously you wouldn't steam the Buttercream, just the coral tuile before applying it to your cake. It may be tricky keeping it stuck down on a Round cake but would work perfectly on a square as your coral tuile wouldn't need to bend as much

There's no taste unless you choose to add it, chefs use this normally on there dishes to decorate, you could add some vanilla if you eat fondant but here in the UK we tend to peel the fondant off and don't eat it

I don't have a steamer, can I use a hairdryer?

No it's completely different unfortunately, a hair dryer just blows out air, this won't make it flexible to add to a cake the air dries it again so it's more brittle. Any form of steam, so boiling a saucepan with just hot water in and being very careful using kitchen tongues or something other than your hands and holding it over the steam will do the same job as a steamer but will be more tricky to do. Steamers are a great investment and excellent with fondant covered cakes. Thank you for leaving a comment as it helps the channel grow x

Thanks, I thought not, but worth an ask. 😁 I'll try my kettle or maybe make a shape like the cake to lay it over when it's hot. Mm, still have to heat it on the cake--maybe put it on a butter frosting cake LOL@@RachelsEnchantingCakes

I haven't tried it on buttercream but cake lace works on buttercream so I don't see why not, you would need to steam it first though and for longer before applying it otherwise the steam could melt some of the butter on the cake x

Can the cake stay on the fridge with that?

If you only wrap it around the sides of the cake then yes because even though it will go soft as its reaching room temp the cake will support it just like you would still place a cake in a fridge if it had cake lace on. If however your wanting to also add small pieces to the top , do this after your cake has come out of the fridge and it's reached room temperature to avoid it from floping over
