Great video! We swapped a radio in an hour thanks in part to this. No life story, no blah blah blah! Thank you!! Bam! Also, tip: not to lose those screws, stick a little rare earth magnet on your impact driver's shaft near the drill end and it will magnetize the entire impact shaft. That will hold the 10mm screws for you when you take them out and put them in.

Thanks for posting this vid! It was really helpful while swapping out my stereo in my 2003 Corolla. I can't believe how easy it was, infinitely easier than my old Buick Skylark was.

It doesn't really matter where its at as long as there is room to remove the panel. It is usually recommended that you disconnect the battery but nit necessary. It just reduces the damage if something happens. The key is on but engine not running when I shift the car but I reccomed putting it in park and removing the key once that trim is off.

Best video out there! The original speakers already are pretty good, it's just the original radio that is crappy, so just hooking a subwoofer and you get some pretty amazing sound out of it!

I totaled my 2006 corolla a year ago. My dad gave me his 2008 to replace it. This video helped my take the 6-disc player out of my 2006 and I just swapped it into my 2008 since that one was only a single disc player. 1,000 thumbs up! My 2006 corolla lives on :)

Probably a dumb question, but when you remove the panel is the shift in Drive or 2nd according to your video? Also, should you disconnect the car battery when working on the radio? Is the key in ACC? Couldn't tell. Sorry for all the questions, and thanks again!

The door where you put your hands in to remove the big panel on my Toyota is broke. I found a replacement at a junk yard for the whole panel. You mentioned something could happen by disconnecting the airbag light when removing the panel. What should I expect? I need to unplug it obviously to switch out the panel, but just wanted to know what I should do or be aware of. Thanks!

The model that I have is exactly the same, except that it has a digital climate control panel (so there is no 3 knobs to remove to find the hidden phillips screw) does that mean its fixed in another place? and if so any ideas how to remove that? Also, the light bulb for the gear shifter is not working on her car. Might be just a burned out bulb. I was wondering if I take off the gear shifter panel, would I be able to see the light bulb or some other parts need to be taken off? Thanks

@lidorsa Taking it out is the hard part. Once you have taken it our just do it backwards.

how do you change the temperature light bulb (green)?

Sometimes disconnecting an airbag indicator can cause an airbag fault that must be reset by the dealer. I dont think that will happen with the corolla but I am not 100% sure.

There may be a light but no sensor that I know of... I have never had any issues..

Superb video. Utterly efficient. Thanks for the tip on using a magnet to get the screws out, and using gum when reinstalling them. When I reinstalled them I wrapped the screw heads with a little plumbing thread tape to get them to stay in the socket.

I'm currently changing this entire panel with the ac control etc, If i unplug everything and replace it with another, would it be a problem? as in would the car start fine or would i need some sort of code?

lol you dont need a special tool. any plastic prying device will work. but i would suggest getting this tool as it makes work easier, and then you have it for later on

Careful with that front panel. I didn't realize that the top corners are clipped and ended up breaking both. They don't "pop off" as easily as this looks unless it's been done to the car before, and the joints have been loosened.

I have a 2006 toyota corolla the cd changer won't load or eject i was able to pull out 2 cd's with a tweezer. is this cd changer fixable and where do i get a panel tool?

It will also work on the 6 CD. The only time it wil lnot work is if you have a slave CD changer down below.

2 of those 4 10mm bolts are a real pain to remove!
