Ritchie Blackmore is one of the guitar greats of all time. His catalogue is so varied, but nothing beats his melodic, bluesy guitar solos. You probably won’t get many requests for them because they are less well-known, but some of the stuff from his Blackmore’s Night catalogue is sublime. If you want to check it out, you could do worse than Village on the Sand; either the studio version or the live version from Castles and Dreams in 2004. It starts like a folk song, the gradually transitions to a blues rock style.

Great story, about a king with a hot daughter. He had a huge mountain of silver and said the person who could ride his horse to the top of the mountain got his daughter and half the kingdom. The third knight made it all the way. Hence Man on the silver mountain.

Ronnie James Dio was the voice of the original Rainbow... his vocals on 'Stargazer' are phenomenal... he also sang a subtle song 'Catch the rainbow' which showed the width of his talents. People wonder why guitarist Ritchie Blackmore fired Ronnie James Dio in 1979 just to go in the direction of "Since you've been gone"... but Rainbow was very popular in the 80's w/ Joe Lynn Turner on vocals (even if they went in a pop rock direction).

I was fortunate to see Dio with Rainbow and Black Sabbath. His stage presence was second to none. Stargazer is one of my Rainbow favorites.

Definitely, the next song to go to is "Stargazer". It's usually the song that introduces people to Rainbow, but you went on a different direction, which is nice, because "Stargazer" is considered the holy grail of Rainbow, their best song. For me, it's one of the best songs ever written, in any genre. I think you'll like it.

Great reaction. Now you have to listen to the all time great Rainbow song Stargazer. One of the most epic heavy metal songs ever. Features some great drumming but the guitar solo by Ritchie Blackmore is just one of the all time greats.

Abour Rainbow, Stargazer is the main song to know and then Gates of Babylon. Ariel is another epic song

@@jalkabre5904 Yes, i think they made some too poppy songs for many fans taste, but then they made some pretty cool songs later on and one of them is Ariel from the album "Stranger in Us All" where there is also another very great song called "Hunting humans (Insatiable)"

@@KennCramerHanberg Yes they did during the Turner years. On that ablum, Doogie White brought back some of the old style Rainbow. So pretty good songs with Ariel, Hunting Humans, and Hall of the Mountain King.

Me and wife got this LP back in 77. We saw Rainbow live in 82. But that was with singer Joe Lynn Turner 👍🇧🇻 Rainbow is the band Richie started after leaving Deep Purple.🤗 Originally named Richie Blackmores Rainbow 😁

Rebeka, you will love other songs from the Live in Munich 1977 concert, especially the song "Mistreated" and "Catch the Rainbow". These are magical. The "Song" will also be "Stargazer", but there isn't any really good footage of this song live, but it is epic and Ronnie's voice is outstanding. You already did "Temple of the King", but with Doogie White on vocals, you should also listen to the original when Dio sang it. Rainbow has so many other great songs, it is one of my favorite bands and you will soon see why.

Also from that same concert the very last song of the concert do you close your eyes with deals having cigarette in his hand and Richie Blackmore's guitar solo at the end where he smashes the guitar is very good

"The"song for Rainbow I think is Stargazer.Its long complex and contains a lot of mythology as usual. Its one of those songs that can give me the chills. Hope you have a happy 2023!

Blackmore was incredible. Often overlooked is how brilliant he was with the slide. To this day, I still can't figure out his palm technique. You cut out a great Blues section btw...(: Try Gates of Babylon!

If you like a song, you like it. If you don't like a song, well then you don't like it. It can't get more simple than that. Ronnie and Richie made an eccentric pair imo and may not have ever been friends. Again, I absolutely love your reaction and I loved seeing you enjoy the song. Keep doing what you enjoy, ain't none of us got long here.

Dio was the best ever in my opinion. When you combine him with Ritchie and Cozy, it's pure magic. I like all the Rainbow vocalists but Dio was the best! As far as songs to do, you should do Temple of the King or Lady of the Lake. Best wishes and Happy New Year!

I loved Rainbow in the late 1970’s. My personal favourite lead singer was Graham Bonnet who did the “Down to Earth” album and tour. Not that he’s any better than Dio but I just love the songs on this fantastic album. All Night Long, In The Eyes Of the World and Love’s No Friend of Mine, being my favourite tracks. Although Since You’ve Been Gone was the best known track on the album.

You coud listen to Rainbows Gates of Babylon, if you haven´t already. Yes, Cozy Powell is a really cool drummer and this song Ronnie James Dio voice suites very well. I listned to different vocal coaches. They all agee he has the best voice as na rock singer. 😁

One of the top Lineups in the History of Rock. Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow! Although this isn't the original lineup. Ritchie changed the name because Dio said the other members of Elf all contributed so Ritchie took his name off the Title of the band. Although when Dio went solo he only billed himself and didn't pay the other members enough to take care of themselves. At least Ritchie billed the band. But for me it will always be Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow.

First, I have to agree with you that without his voice, and the way he performs the song, it would be a different scenario, as you put it. Second, correct me if I'm wrong, but the only other Rainbow song you've reacted to was Kill The King. At least according to what I could find in your playlists. In your comments you said you were so confused by what you were seeing, because it was a lot to take in. You actually said you liked the song but because there was so much to take in, your facial expressions may have given the impression you didn't like it. Saw Dio in ELF open for Deep Purple , then in Rainbow 7 times and in Sabbath 3 times. Great voice in a powerhouse band Rainbow was so diverse and breaking new ground. I hate how Blackmore is said to be so hard to work with. And RJD went through just as many if not more line up changes along with Ozzy. And just pick any song from Long Live ROCK AND ROLL
