Episode 9 - Fear the left side
In this installment we replace the rear left arch and quarter panel. This was a difficult job as replacement wheel arches for early cars are not available so we had modify a repair panel heavily to suit our 67 Alfa Gt Junior. As we were trying on the arch we had to keep referring to the outer quarter panel all the parts would have to fit together
Once the marking and trimming was done we TIG welded the sides, a job that proved to be really difficult due to the heat created by welding such a long panel.

I am about to start this journey on my 1967, I am hopeful the condition is not as severe. I like that you keep as much of the original metal as possible, as I know this is not the easiest route. Your videos documenting the restoration are extremely valuable for reference and I greatly appreciate you taking the time to share. Thank you and have fun with your Alfa.

Thanks for the nice words, this particular car was is really bad shape, however I knew what needed to be done as bought it as an unfinished project, blasted and with many replacement panels. Some tips would be to be patient and try all the panels before welding and use seals for the doors as its easy to get it wrong!

Do you somehow treat the insides of the new/old panels to prevent them rusting from the inside?
