My basement is very, very, very well stocked almost every bottle on Ralfy’s advice. I slowed way up on collecting about three years ago when I seriously reviewed my collection-vs-my life expectancy. I will not be around long enough at my rate of consumption to put a serious dent in it. My wife can’t sell it in the USA. I would hate to cause my Son, Daughter or any of my five Grandsons to become alcoholics. I guess my only real moral option now, is liver be dammed, drink up old feller. If anyone doesn’t like it, my reply will be “It’s for the children!” I know it is a tough row to hoe, but I have be strong. Their are some very wonderful dusty bottles down there I am forced to plow through one tiny sip at a time, all the while with a big sh!t ratting on my face. I hope none of my Ralfy malt mates face a similar hard choice. Slainte

Glencadam is one of those gems that is flying under the radar at the moment. I've never had a disappointing dram from their bottles.

Normally go for anything with even a hint of sherry but tried their 10 year old to broaden my pallet and it was immediately one of my favourites. 15 year old is on my Christmas wish list.

Hard to describe the delight of finally buying and enjoying a bottle of Glencadam 10 year old last month. It has become a favourite of mine. Highly recommended to anyone and everyone who enjoys whisky!

RALFY! I got this dram recently. LOVE IT. Love the old style. Then I played with it. Blended it with 15% or so Corryvreckan and some drops of water for a total dram of about 2oz. By God- 2-3 fantastic hours of flavor. Blended exceptionally well.

One of my all time favourite single malts. I get creamy barley cereal in treacle, glazed oranges and dry honey. It's more like a 92 for me.

When I saw Ralfy's review I was interested. Then I saw that this dram only costs EUR 62 over here. After reading your additions to this excellent review, I decided to order a bottle 😉

@@gravityskeptic8697 Wow! €62 is about 220 Israeli shekels. That's cheaper than the Glencadam 10 here. (260 shekels). The 15 costs. 400 shekels here. You won't regret it. My advise. Add a touch of water and leave for a few minutes, then enjoy. By the way, the Glencadam 13 is also good. If you it on special offer then grab it. The 18 is lovely but in my opinion, over priced. The 15 is better! As for the 21. I've had two bottles and despite many giving it rave reviews I have never connected to it, finding it too spirit driven and harsh. That's my opinion on the Glencadan range.

Opened with a Rant! I've not had any Glencadam on my whisk(e)y journey. I've been gravitating towards integrity bottelings for a while now. Balblair was a favourite until the stopped vintages and the prices went crazy. Thanks for the review, I'll keep an eye out for this one!

This year's harvest from my apple trees will hopefully produce 20 litres of apple brandy 50%vol. The same with plum trees 20l of sliwowicz. Local destillery not illegal.

Just bought a 15 today here in Portugal and now my family of Glencadam is growing, with the 10 and the 17. Where I bought it, they also had a special edition 13 year old. I really love this distillery.

Nice observation around stocking up and passing on bottles to younger generations. It's something more and more people are doing. Buy it before it becomes unaffordable!

Tried this for the very first time recently. It’s very light, green apple, delicate caramel… almost like a dry Irish whiskey if such a thing existed. While it’s dense, it also doesn’t quite seem it’s age… I might have guessed it was a well aged 12 year old. Will need to let this bottle go slowly to help figure it out.

Just halfway through the bottle now and it’s taken a different mood, more sensations. Airplane glue, and a bit of musty hay in the background. Very different.

Thanks again half way through my first bottle of the 15 having been a fan of the 10 and also wee and big brother independent bottlings at 9 years old 55%abv it’s wonderful and at £56 am happy to pay the price for such quality keep up the good work 🍻

Another great review Ralfy and yes you are so right about the high levels of spirits excise duty; the SWA pointed out in a previous written submission to the Govt. (and I quote); 'three in every four pounds spent on the average priced bottle of Scotch Whisky in the off-trade is collected in excise duty and VAT, with the tax burden on Scotch Whisky and other UK spirits currently 70%'. This is indeed crippling to the industry and the consumer alike. On a brighter note though, I have just finished reading and thoroughly enjoyed your book 'Search for a Whisky Bothy'. Also Amazon have dropped the price on the excellent Bunnahabhain Stiuireadair to £25, so having re-ordered I am a happy chappy; Slàinte Mhath.

I live in Oregon, No offerings from Glencadam are currently available here. However, I was able to get this 15 across the border in Washington (Haven't had the 10 or anything else, can't find it here). It cost me $100, plus 20% tax, plus another $2 and change from some littering fee. Very glad to have it, as it's fantastic whisky, but I'm nursing this thing like it's irreplaceable.

@Phu Cgmail You're right about the horrible state or Oregon. The bottle deposit was a first in the nation passed in 1970's. I collected "ambers", as a kid for 2 cents each redeemable at our Country Store.

I relate in your thincking. Actually have a dram in my hand 3th of the night but less than onz each. Here in Canada i dont see any Glencadam15y available. But certely gonna try the 21y and 10. Yeah i like whisky with good barrel maturation, but the spirit it self is really important. Dram of the night. Arran 14y single barrel, Ledaig 11y Port CadenHead and Kilchoman Loch gorm to finish.

Never had a Glencadam, and the first one i am gonna drink will be (buying it with 3 friends), Glencadam 21. Gonna buy it in December, our whisky for November will be Deanston 18.

From the Core Line-Up from Glencadam I like the 21yo. the most. Every Whisky from them is great, but there was one Note I cant get out my mind, and it was something I only had once before: cottonoil. My memory was so clearly there even in the fact that it was like 15 years ago once. Stunning malt moment.

Bought a bottle. I like the color anyway. I going to test it and watch Dr. Who, first season. I like the nose from the bottle already. My whisky always sits covered in the Glencairn glass for 20 minutes first. To start it up.

Managed to grab an old dusty Glencadam 15 in a 1L bottle which they only made in 2013! Wonder if older Glencadam is better, we shall find out especially given your older review was more favourable

Meant to ask this before, but is Ralfy's malt mark indicative of it neat or with water? Or perhaps a general average between the two? EDIT: can't get Glencadam here in NC (control state), nor Tobermory. Which for the latter is odd since we can in fact get Ledaig.

I don't buy many whiskys these days. Just finished my only bottle, a Springbank 12 cask strength, which was amazing. Maybe this Glencadam would be a nice contrast for the next bottle?

In Quebec at least, single malts are no longer affordable. A regular 12 year Glenfiddich is over 65 $ now.

The cork rot is a pain in the butt. I’ve had bottles sit on the shelf for over 9 years and when you open them up cork breaks and is very hard to work with. be very careful when opening a bottle that has been sitting on the shelf for over 3 years.

Back before prohibition most farmers produced their own alcohol. There werent gas stations on every corner and they used it to fuel their farm equipment. the ATF will come knocking if you try to do that today in the US

PC10 is my fav dram, affordable, available, a real smoky treat for 50% abv. I've never tried Craigellachie b4 tho

Hey Ralfy, thanks for the review, but this is a re-review. You've checked it out on 708 (I'm sure you know it). You've rated it 91 back in the days. Did the whisky change so much in 2021?

I guess his pallate has evolved since then. However i'm glad the 21 is now rated a bit higher since i believe it is quite superior in taste and complexity.

@@RomainRiviere The 21 is an outstanding whisky! Glencadam is such an underrated distillery! But one is a really strange one. The 18 yo is the one I've bought once and never again the next few years.

@@RomainRiviere Yes, it is (for me) totally different compared to the 15 and 21. If you're planning to buy it anyway I suggest to look out for a sample first. Maybe you like it but for buying a full bottle with the love for 15/21 it's a bit risky.

Im in Pennsylvania USA...bad selection and I can't get whisky shipped in. I have to break the law and be a modern day smuggler. Rediculous. I can't even drink standard malts anymore. Im stocking up on any integrity spirits I can get my hands on. It happened and im sold after 30 years of sipping... I want natural integrity presentation or no sale.

Opened mine last week after getting my hands on 2 bottles (opened one, mothballed the other 😂). Pears, green apples, lemon peel, pronounced orchard fruits is very accurate. I also got nice fizzy "Cream soda" notes from it too. So lively. The nose on it is very engaging & beautiful. ❤❤🥃 87/100 integrity malt rating for me. 😊
