2017 Wyoming Pronghorn with Randy Newberg and Friends (Day 3)

This is Day 3 where Randy is in Wyoming with hunting friend, Jim Baichtal, doing his favorite thing; chasing pronghorn. Jim has the tag, his custom Hawken muzzleloader, and Randy has the interest to help.
After a day and a half of searching for big pronghorn, the guys are both confident that today will be the day. The night before, they left some good bucks in a basin as shooting light disappeared. Now back in that basin, they are looking for Big Hank.
While Jim goes on a stalk, Randy stays at the truck to keep glassing. Randy is shocked to see a record book buck walk right past his truck at 150 yards. Jim returns from his stalk to see Randy very excited about what has transpired.
It takes the better part of the day and amazing patience for an opportunity to come within Jim's 100 range. And when the buck makes that mistake, Jim is ready.
Boone & Crockett animals are rares specimens. To see one is unusual. To take one with a rifle, extremely rare. To tag one with a custom Hawken round ball muzzleloader is almost unheard of. Jim has done the near impossible.

Incredibly tough animal to be able to take two hits like that from such a large chunk of lead, and try to hang onto life like that. A will to live like no other and deserving of immense respect. Good job! This is a dream hunt for me.

The sequence of events from 16:34 To the end of the video are mind blowing! Jim Calls the shot, then it Happened exactly the way he said it needed to. That Buck has to have mystical powers in that rack because someone plz explain how it was still alive after a shot to the boiler room with a 58 cal slug to then take another?? Then Add the fact that Randy went to jim's Nirvana and shot a boon sika bt, to Jim shooting a boon Antelope in Randy's Nirvana [B&C Animals Are once in a lifetime Events for most people, If they ever get to see one]. THEN To have the video clip of Randy at the end SAYING everything he said and BOOM! it happened! CRAZY. You can't make this shit up! UNREAL Hunt boys.

I hope to be going Antelope hunting this year, more than likely not in this unit. Can you say how many points Jim had for this unit? I would like to hunt down by Baggs but that is going to take 10 years. Cool video, I know everyone loves elk and deer but I am really getting into Antelope.

Jim is an official B&C measurer, so he is not allowed to score his own buck for final entry score. But, he did do a conservative gross score a couple days later. He came up with 84 4/8, which I am sure is pretty close.

Very cool hunt! I'm addicted to muzzle loader hunting. What kind of bullet?

A roundball of some sort. Jim would have to provide those details. Thanks for watching.
