RAPALA VS. SPINNER & WORM! | NOVA SCOTIA TROUT FISHING 2023

Fishing for speckled trout in Nova Scotia, Canada. On this adventure, Logan and Chad take part in a friendly competition while fishing. Chad had success using Rapala Lures during a previous adventure while Logan caught nothing using Lucky Strike Spinners and live worms. The two fisherman decided to repeat their choice of fishing gear to see who would catch the most fish. The fishing trip started trolling from a 14 foot aluminum boat. After a couple hours of fishing, it was decided to tie off the boat and walk to a nearby still water to finish the day. Logan also brought his fly rod, as the May Fly hatch just started at the time the video was being recorded.

Fly fishing is definitely fun. Something nostalgic about spinner and worm. Brings me back to my childhood!

What kind of fly were you using?

Mayfly pattern and switched to a March brown. Fish weren't overly interested. This was literally one of the first days I noticed mayflies though. Two days after this was recorded, I went out and caught around a dozen on the same flies...

our trout over here on newfoundland island are pretty picky when it comes to tackle they might take a bite of a Rapala but they won't come back for seconds.

@@Huntingpros have you ever tried trolling top water flies from boat or canoe..i have tried it but not as much as i wanted to because..as the weather gets warmer here like late June-August the trout start to get even picky fishing with Lure and worm?

@@Huntingpros ah yeah that run is on here right now ..I tried trolling for them with lures but they don't bite much mostly they bite from shore or anchor off in boat and cast towards shore and then reel out ..flies i am not even sure what to do there i've tried fly fishing from shore but they don't take the fly much.

@livetohuntandfish8700 when I've fly fished for sea runs in the past, I use a shrimp pattern wet fly... Seemed to work back then.
