Ray Dalio (of Bridgewater Associates) has recently released a new memo, discussing the stats behind whether we are currently in a stock market bubble? Furthermore, he breaks down the 'Magnificent-7' (Nvidia, Tesla, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google) to examine whether investors are getting a little bit too speculative in current economic conditions.

I believe investors should focus on under-the-radar stocks, especially given the present rollercoaster nature of the stock market. 35% of my $270,000 portfolio consists of collapsing stocks that were previously respected, and I don't know where to go from here.

The best course of action if you lack market knowledge is to ask a consultant or investing coach for guidance or assistance. Speaking with a consultant helped me stay afloat in the market and grow my portfolio to about 65% since January, even though I know it sounds obvious or generic. I believe that is the most effective way to enter the business at the moment.

I don't know much about that, however, I foresee a recession lasting 2-3 years, and if inflation continues to surge, the Federal Reserve will likely raise interest rates soon. Inflation is causing various issues worldwide, such as food shortages, scarcities of diesel and heating fuel, and significant spikes in housing prices, leading to a potential financial market crash. This global downturn could have long-lasting repercussions. Given the current inflation rate of approximately 9%, my main worry is how to optimize my savings and retirement fund, which has remained stagnant at around $300,000, yielding almost no gains for quite some time.

Numerous opportunities exist to achieve substantial profits at present, but executing high-volume and nearly flawless trades requires the expertise of real-time professionals with an ISDA Agreement. This agreement allows investors to participate in sophisticated trades, exclusive to seasoned individuals, and unavailable to amateurs. Attempting to be a high-stakes trader without an ISDA is akin to trying to win the Indy 500 riding a llama.

Okay, I can see Ray has some insight into the lack of frothiness in the stock market directly, but is he seeing the moving pieces behind the scenes? Construction on new homes has ground to a halt because of high interest rates. Raising interest rates is a blunt instrument, and in using it, it has unintended consequences- such as the fact that the paucity of new builds has driven home prices up in a medium interest rate environment. Add to this that in the U.S. a buyer can lock in a low rate and hunker down until rates decrease. Rental prices are stubbornly high and bear no relationship to the average working wage. These pressures will likely push us into recession without the stock market being the precipitous event. Ray seems to be getting more narrow in his perspective on these tertiary factors.

It feels like the market is more distorted now than anything. Inflation causes asset prices to rise which makes stocks go up. Inflation also prompts companies to increase their prices which on the surface level looks like an increase in revenues and profits. Inflation also prompts the FED to increase interest rates which de-incentivizes taking on cheap debt which results in investors (and the companies themselves) incurring less debt to buy stocks. However, we are in a weird situation where 70-80% of the population thinks the economy is bad and rightfully so. Full time employment is down year-over-year, real wages are down, household debt has gone up immensely... and yet the stock market is also at a record high. We don't see a widespread "bullish" sentiment because most individual investors no longer have the extra income to invest. It may come to be that Ray Dalio's bubble gauge only works during "normal" market conditions. The last 3 years have been anything but normal, and regular people are finding it increasingly difficult to hold on.

I agree, everyone is thinking 2000 and 2008, but we need to look at the huge stock market unwind of 1974...it was not caused by excessively bubbly stocks, but rather by the fact that an exogenous event (oil shock and inflation) made everyone "effectively" poorer in a short amount of time. I see way more similarities to that event than to the unhinged euphoric bubbles of 2000 and 2008. Although there are definitely shades of those as well.

I honestly believe we are over due a crash by about 5 years at this point and that date cannot be pushed back much more. The market has been flat bar the 7, toxic debt is right there waiting for stagflation to stop and a recession will hit hard.

@@Christineperkins-uw8ow Dunno about TSLA. The stock is wild. It's based largely on Elon Musk instead of the company's balance sheet. He used Tesla money to acquire Twitter (for some odd reason) and to fund his interest to colonize mars. Then he's got the Boring project that he's still working on. He's also making bets on Bitcoin using Tesla money, which he's placing on the balance sheet as profits. I think too much of the stock value is on Elon as opposed to the EV product. That's just my 2 cents.

China is very unstable right now and if they go down the world will feel it. inflation is going in the wrong direction which is prolonging the hurt and leading to increases on prices for virtually everything. On the other hand. Warren Buffett's stock indicator shows that the market as a whole is now very overvalued. Another thing is the interest rate. The stock market has a P/E of 28, which means a return of 3.5% without growth. Usually, the index return is higher than the interest rate. So even from this point of view, there could be a correction in the future. Why would I hold the market at 3.5% with downside risk when I can hold cash at 5+% with no downside risk?

With 5+ year horizon I think I'm a lot more likely to double my money there, while Nvidia would have to hit $4T which is ridiculous. I'm also buying s&p 500 equal weight etf to dodge the AI bubble when it bursts, although Google and Meta should be fine.

Even w new competition on the horizon, NVIDIA is far ahead of the competition. 85% market share. 76% margin. Unrivaled demand for new Blackwell chip. Demand far exceeds production for Blackwell through to 2025 and beyond. No competitor has anything close to Blackwell. And forward P/E is about 33 (cheap for a high growth stock). Buy this stock and wait. You will be rewarded.

Problem is that NVDA is addicted to the datacenter, their mobile offerings are terrible. Inference needs to happen at the edge (mobile) and training will not have the same amount of demand as time goes on. NVDA is a major bet on aggregation of resources (compute) but this is cyclical as we have seen dozens of major shifts in this industry. Remember when Citrix aggregated desktops with VDI and then it imploded because VDI has a problem with latency? AI Inference in the datacenter has the same problem with latency. AAPL and Samsung are the best buys for AI now that we are transitioning from training to inference. If you are in cross roads or need sincere advise on the best moves to take now its best you seek a pro who knows about the financial markets. Cheers and good luck!
