Reacher Attacked By Critics For Not Enough Diversity

Reacher season 2 starring Alan Ritchson has been destroying streaming records and has been a huge success for Amazon. On top of huge success in viewership Reacher season 2 has also received incredible reviews, however despite the obvious success Reacher has achieved, media outlets and some critics are attacking Reacher for promoting toxic men, and it's also obvious that some people in the industry may not like Reacher as it has been snubbed from multiple awards it deserved. I think the reason is because Reacher is everything modern Hollywood hates right now and they don't want to see a show of this nature succeed.

Ironically, they have to cancel themselves, if they really believe in diversity, equity and inclusion. According to DEI the difference are not because of merit, they are because of discrimination. So the DEI reason why nearly all movies are filmed in Hollywood or with Hollywood actors is because they discriminate the rest of the world. Diversity would means less Americans and less English language.

Two seasons, and the bad guys have essentially been the corrupt who use their power and influence to harm the 'little guy'. This show is the exact opposite of all you incels.

But even as a lecture it is bad. You dont necessarily change prejudices through watching something. Sometimes you even get prejudices against specific actors. Have critics not seen the show? The actress playing Neagly is a former beauty pageant queen of color, playing an absolute badass. The actress playing Dixon was incredible, and believable as a “strong female character”. In the first season, the actress playing the cop was tough as nails, even dude’s housewife, played by Lana Lang, was great. Skill over skin color, i say. So far, this series has had leads of color who are integral to the stories. The Jack Reacher series was always written off as a pulp, poorly written white man power fantasy. In reality, they are well written parables, good versus evil, right versus wrong.

They're letting their colors show. Diverse cast, strong female characters, and it's still not enough. It will never be enough. It's not pushing a message at the cost of story or character and succeeding and they can't stand it. I don't watch Reacher. Figured it probably wouldn't be a show I could get into. If these weird activitsts are really for DEI they would also have to promote the identities that disbenefit them, not only those that benefit them. That means the movies have too much Americans and too much English language in worldwide movies. If you film in another language you make the English audience uncomfortable and they realize their privileges according to them and so you change to world.

I like the fact that the characters look and act like they do in the books. It's a very rare thing for Holly-weird to take a character and keep it true to what was done previously. It's very refreshing, IMO, to finally have a book, or comic based star that remains for the most part exactly like the one that any fans have been reading about for years or in the case of most Marvel heroes, decades.

But if you look at other US award ceremonies that have given awards and nominations to Godzilla Minus One, its usually just Visual Effects, Score and International Feature. It is a shame that the Oscars only gave it a VFX nod but its not as if it got Oppenheimer levels of nominations (which got 13 this year, BTW)

Well articulated. Reacher is actually a family show, he is in the first season avenging his brothers murder, he’s proud of his military, service and friends, he and the woman deputy who first arrest him sort of heal each other because they were both hurting. This is a beautifully crafted show, and I’m looking forward to season three. And then there was the character of the cop, the black cop who lost his wife, who had to overcome his grief. Everyone lost somebody and they needed each other to get through that. Masterful writing. And the acting is superb.

They'll never fully embrace a shows like Reacher because it means that they'll have to admit that the "modern audience" they are pandering to doesn't exist and audiences don't care about whatever ideology they are trying to push as all we want is quality entertainment first and foremost. Just look at the marketing for Reacher compared to Echo. Reacher's cast talk about the show and their characters and their relationships and what we can expect to see in the show WITHOUT once mentioning "representation". Whereas Echo gives you no clue about the story or a reason why audiences should tune in other than how many "diversity tick boxes" the show ticks. They can keep snubbing shows or movies like Reacher that don't push "The Message", as audiences are already voting with their wallets in theatres and their time watching streaming shows and we've already seen how name calling fans has worked out for them.

Oh, the modern audience exists, not just in small numbers, but they also don't much support the media targeted towards them. The crowd that wants more women in video games aren't buying those games. The crowd who wants more representation aren't supporting the shows that offer representation. They're expecting the masses to support whatever is put out regardless of quality or interest. They want everyone else to support their stuff, but can't be arsed to do much to support it themselves. And when people push back against poor quality media, they use that diversity as a shield, as if that lack of support is based solely on the immutable traits of those involved in the project. They will never stop to think, much less admit, that they are the problem and their work is substandard.

Even a simple revenge story with the odd fresh takes like the Beekeeper (don't suppose you'd be interested in reviewing that would you?) made 76 million dollars and counting at the box office, over a 34 million dollars budget. Reminds me of Hogwarts Legacy drama. I recommend a prequel show of Jack Reacher called Blue Mountain State. It covers him going through college as a football player. Really good show.

When it comes to good stories, all Hollywood has to do is what Reacher is. Make movies or shows from good, well-written books. This is why Silo is a good show - great book. They just don't want that.

I am tired of things which were supposed to be 'entertaining' now being served up with extra helpings of 'the message' and pandering to the 'modern audience'. I just finished season 1 of Reacher and found it fun, exciting and suspenseful. I cannot wait to watch season 2 and I am hoping a 3rd season will be in production soon.

Nothing wrong with being a stong male, alot of us called those dad. Its okay to be a strong female several of us called those mom. Its okay to be gay or whatever gender you choose to call yourself or sexual preference you desire because alot of MEN fought for that freedom with women backing them up at home and keeping the country running while it was at war for everyone.

The viewership numbers tell the truth. The "critics" can bite me. More people have viewed Reacher season 2 than watched all of Disney's releases (i.e. flops) in the past year, both streaming and theater releases combined. Let the "critics" stick that where the sun never shines.

the problem with DEI is they are parasites. I'm black, and id like to see people of color build themselves up and gain respect. Work on their own shows. The problem is we keep letting these plagiarizers seek out successful franchises and bully their way in to claim success. Then it ultimately the show flops because most of the people arent qualified to begin with. It creates a negative stigma that people of colour are failures and also live off of others. I really hate that these DEI people keep putting us in these situations.

Even films like _The Godfather_ and _Citizen Kane_ that are widely considered to be some of the best films ever made have detractors and people who complain about them. Hell, I'm one of the people who complains about _The Godfather,_ because I find it boring and uninteresting.

This last season has black, Asian, and Hispanic. At least what I can tell. Remember, these are based on well loved books and nobody said anything about them. This is a deliberate attempt to get Reacher off TV.

The only problem I have with Reacher is there’s not enough episodes, but the show is phenomenal. I’m so tired of people worrying over diversity, just make a good show/movie regardless if it’s diverse or not . I'm not a fan of "real world" dramas, much preferring escapism but I love Reacher because it's just well told (except the finale of S2 which got a bit comic book daft). In fact it's opened my eyes to older things I've never seen, like Fargo. Because I just don't have to sit through buckets of preachy ideology to just enjoy something, or see my demoographic get treated like shit in order to promote some other demographic

Reacher is some of the best TV I've watched in a while. It absolutely not perfect, but the communal feel that the first season gave me ignited a warming spark in my dead heart

Here's the thing. Reacher is an ok show. The story and plot are kinda just there, and there is decent action. Alan is definitely a better actor this season as well. But I think the reason people like it is because it's content that is not forcibly 'diverse' or "insert message here" It's a meat and potatoes action show, that would have missed the radar 20 years ago.
