It is fine if you're more leaning toward the dark/heavy side of BABYMETAL. If you're not too much into the Kawaii/J-Pop side of them you'll have songs you like more and songs you like less. It's inevitable. What matters is that you now have enough understanding of them to know that they are atleast hit or miss for you and not just misses all the time which is great ! I hope you find more songs that you'll enjoy ! The beauty of BABYMETAL is that it pretty much has songs for everyone to enjoy. It brings people like you and people who are more into pop together and that's a good thing imo. Their concert crowds are like a patchwork of people with different music tastes and backgrounds. As one who likes almost all of their catalog but who leans more toward heavy, I think I could tell in advance what your favourite songs of theirs might be. I honestly can not tell which songs you're going to like from their newer stuff (apart from Distortion and BxMxC which I'm positive you'll appreciate). That being said, the two girls have their own duet songs and some of these are really heavy. They do have more chipmunkish voices so you may end up not liking those songs because of the vocals but Sis Anger and GJ! are songs sung by Yui & Moa exclusively without Su and those songs are heavy (Sis Anger) and have sick riffs (GJ!). Those two bring most of the Kawaii elements so they may never offer you something you like musically. However as I've told you before, they do also bring hype. Their gigantic energy and crowd interactions are the added sparkles that make the live concerts that much more insane. I hope someday you'll appreciate them for what their main role is : to be a crowd hyper. On a side note I'm also relieved you got to finally witness that we weren't lying about the fact the musicians actually do get their moment to shine. ;) The next logical step would be either of these songs imo : BABYMETAL - Distortion (either MV or live at Download) (please make it Live at Download) BABYMETAL - BxMxC

This performance of the song is really great, and in fact the entire concert was up there as one of their best. It was held at the Budokan in Japan, which was built to host the martial arts competitions for the 1962 Olympics. It's a venue that you can't just to decide to play at, you have to be invited to perform, and Babymetal was the youngest band ever to play there. A couple fun/not so fun facts about the shows: Ozzy was in attendance for one of them, so that's pretty cool. But the first nights concert had a couple notable accidents involving the girls. During the song Headbanger, Yui fell 12 ft from the stage and wasn't on stage for the rest of the song, but was right back there for the next song. However during the next song, Moa fell and injured herself, but finished the song like a fucking trooper, even though you could see she was in a lot of pain. I think of some of those big name artists who have walked off stage when things weren't going right, and then you have these two 14-15 year old girls who carried on regardless of the pain they were in to finish the show. I don't see how anyone couldn't respect that.

Yeah, this song really has it all. You have to respect how tight they are as well, especially with the odd time signatures. Another song that you may enjoy would be Akatsuki. It's another solo song for SU, and has some great guitar work as well. This video of the song is from the same concert series as this - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nZhjapV0mraufIE.html As far as newer stuff, I'm not sure what to recommend, as the guitar work is pushed farther into the back than the stuff from the first two albums, very few solos, and all the live stuff has the Kami Band in masks. In fact they actually used two Kami Bands, East (Japanese, like the ones in this video) and West, for their last tour. Their latest album, Metal Galaxy, mixes a lot of genres from around the world, there Spanish influences, Indian influences, and even Irish influences. They do incorporate some really low, 9 string guitar stuff though, so it can sound pretty dark at times. Su also experiments with some different singing styles as well, which is more where the songs are focused. If I had to choose one song from their latest album I think you might like, it would be Distortion, although the song Kagerou live has a West Kami band intro, so that's pretty good of course.

Thank you very much from Japan 有難う💛。 You finally reacted to and analyzed this song which I was sure you would like. Can you believe that Su-Metal was 16 year old in this video ? Next logical step ? Before going to recent ones, please try one more song having similar structure ; Kami band solos but this time 3-girl performance thereafter. "Catch Me If You Can BABYMETAL BLACK NIGHT LEGEND DOOMSDAY" (with English subtitle). I know you think 2 dancers are distracting factors, but their functions are, in my opinion, "conductors to orchestrate unorganized crowd", "interpreters of lyrics with a kind of sign language", "cheer leaders to the audiences (they are already & always excited, though)" and more importantly "forming a triangle which makes their performance look more dramatic". Please enjoy ! Thanks again and good night. It's already midnight here in Tokyo.

Great job, it really keeps amazing me how seriously you take your approach to a band that you didn't really like in your first approach. As others have already said BABYMETAL songs are all over the place so it's not strange that you just like some of them. I'm a hardcore fan now but at the beginning I recognize I had trouble to let some of the more "light" songs like Iine! grow on me... If you want to check something more recent but on the heavy side I would suggest Distortion, Starlight or BxMxC (this one has more of an electronic vibe but I think it might be heavy enough to appeal to you). Kitsune up!! 🤘🏻🦊

Really appreciate the honest reactions, and the considered approach you've decided on. No need to be apologetic about not liking all their songs. That is of course perfectly natural, especially with a divisive band like Babymetal. (Although we fans all sort of suspect that you will eventually come around to loving Yui and Moa, and we are secretly following your videos just because it will be fun to see you discover this for yourself, just like we once did). We would never recommend that anyone listen to "Gimme Chocolate" until they're at least a couple of dozen tracks deep into the catalogue. But not because we think the song is bad. It just takes time to acclimatize is all :-) As for where to go next, I guess we could throw you for a loop and recommend "BxMxC" (for some trap metal/EDM vibes), just to show you how different some of the Babymetal songs _really_ are. But maybe "Arkadia" would be a better choice, if you think you'd might prefer some power metal with great Su vocals. Or, if you feel like something even darker than "Babymetal Death", perhaps try "In the Name of", where none of the girls are even singing. "Distortion", "Kagerou" and "Starlight" are great tracks as well, and all six songs mentioned are from the latest album, like you wanted. Considering how well you responded to this Su solo though, I really feel I need to mention "Akatsuki", as you would almost certainly like that one. Another good one for new listeners is "Road of Resistance", which is a very catchy (if somewhat straight forward) power metal anthem. Watching the girls wrap the crowd around their little fingers is very, very impressive. And eventually you will have to tackle their more progressive stuff, of which "Tales of the Destinies" is at the top of the list. And once you're past all that, we will try to reintroduce Yui and Moa through "Sis. Anger", which is perhaps heavier than you'd expect from them :-)
@somethingintheblood6012

I did Road Of Resistance before I did Death. It wound up getting blocked after 3 days of being up on my channel. That one was pretty straight forward, as you said. The chanting back and forth with the audience was a little too extended, I thought, and the choreography was a big turn off for that particular song. It didn't hit the heights of Rondo, for me. I keep reading in the comments about what the other two girls add to the presentation, but it's not something I go to shows for, so it's a hard thing to reconcile in my head. I realize I might just be a little stubborn and a bit old guard in my way of thinking. Sis Anger is on my radar, and I'll probably give that a chance at some point. I'll likely either try Akatsuki or BxMxC next. Regardless, I try not to talk shit for the sake of it, but to be as fair and honest as I can. At the end of the day, I'm just looking for good music to listen to.

Glad that you enjoyed the song, and it's perfectly fine to have a style that you enjoy, and not like the songs that fit into this preference as much. I think the fact that Babymetal explores so many different genres means it's almost inevitable there will be songs that just don't do it for you, while at the same time, there will almost always be something in their discography that a music lover will appreciate! Because their catalogue is so diverse, it's hard to find another song that's necessarily in the same style. That said, you seem to prefer the more "conventional" type of sound (that is to say, without the chants and crowd interaction from the two younger girls). If that's the case, I would recommend Kagerou off their latest album. It's a fairly straightforward song in comparison to some of their "weirder" stuff, but it opens with a Kami solo, and does a pretty good job of highlighting Su's older voice: streamable.com/7tgk75

There are only 4 songs that Su does without the other 2 girls. They all rank at or near the top as far as best Babymetal songs but Yui and Moa and choreography is an integral part of Babymetal so it's something you will have to get used to. They always bring the kawaii but not all of the songs are overly cutesy. I would recommend the other 3 Su solos though. Like I said, they are very good. Akatsuki Amore No Rain No Rainbow

Great reaction! I'm really glad you enjoyed this one. When i first heard some clips of some BABYMETAL songs years ago, I was not interested in the overly cute sounds, especially from Yui and Moa, but I think it was either "Rondo of Nightmare" or "Akatsuki" that changed it all for me. Of their 50+ songs, this one is in my top 5 favorite BABYMETAL songs list. One of the things that I like about Su's solo songs, is that the lyrics are deeper than many of their other songs. This song is about being stuck in a never ending nightmare, and a youtube user even said that to him this song described exactly how depression feels to him. Here is a little bit of the lyrics: "The waning moon has lit up, the insanity rampant in the shade. The laughter resounds around. It bares its fangs and its eyes gleam. I can't escape from it." BTW, one thing that I noticed is that as the girls matured, the songs that I thought sounded too cute, actually sound better now that their voices have matured and aren't so high pitched. For example, I like the more recent live performances of "Gimme Chocolate" and "Karate".

you are gonna love "BxMxC", and "Distortion", and "Kagerou" and "In the Name Of" and "Pa Pa Ya" and "Shine" and "Starlight" and "Arkadia" and "Elevator Girl", just to name a few songs off their newest album,"Metal Galaxy" .. the thing with Babymetal when you are discovering them from your perspective is once you are all in with them those songs that you thought that you didn't like as much grow on you, for example Give Me Chocolate sounds super dope live and totally banging these days, and btw their second album "Metal Resistance" is frickin badass as well, from straight up death metal all the way to a super power ballad, with at least ten different metal genres mixed in. Babymetal rules dude.

Rondo is incredible, definitely one of my favourites as well. There are four Sumetal solo ballads, and one song that was first performed that way but was altered later. If you're leaning towards the darker and heavier side of their catalogue, it's hard to predict which tracks from Metal Galaxy will work for you; they got experimental, and didn't do too much on the heavier side. They said that the first two albums were about showing people that metal can be different than people's preconceptions, and the third album is about showing that Babymetal can be different from fans preconceptions. Distortion is a good recommendation I already see in the comments, it's one of the most similar to their previous work, so you can get an idea of how they've grown. If you want to see what "experimental" means for Babymetal, though, check out "BxMxC". It's the heaviest track on the album aside from "In The Name Of", which is just a modern successor of "Babymetal Death"

Great reaction, and it's good to see that BabyMetal are starting to get to you now, you are starting to understand the BabyMetal universe. The Kami band are simply out of this world and the drummer it's an absolute machine with the kick pedals. I will mirror some of the suggestions that have been made by other viewers as things you could look at. If you want check a broad spectrum of their music, some of the greats are:- Akatsuki, No Rain No Rainbow (almost a power ballad), Megitsune (this has one of the greatest breaks/drops in any BabyMetal song), Distortion (again, Hideki the drummer is a machine here), BxMxC (this is one of their later tracks, and is a rap/metal Fusion), If it's just music you want, then check out "In the name of"...the drums are filthy and just chugg through this. One other thing to listen to is SuMetals earpiece on Rondo of Nightmare (there's a video on KZfaq of it) where the band are playing in 3/4 time).

If you want to check their recent song, the Trilogy of Lights would be a good choice for you... Trilogy of Lights is three song from the new album (Starlight, Shine and Arkadia)... Arkadia is my favorite song right now because it was like the mature version of Road of Resistance... If you want to check more another kind of ballads song, No Rain No Rainbow, Amore, and Akatsuki would be good choice too

Babymetal has always been the masters of contrasting two different sides together (Kawaii and Metal) basically their genre are those two. Their producer said that Babymetal will never fully belong to either side (Kawaii = Cutesy songs) or the Heavy ones but they will keep experimenting with both sides to put into their songs altogether. Their heavy side was one of the reason why I fell in love with Babymetal in the first place. I wasn't really sure about the other two girls but after being a proud fan for 3 years I can say that their presence kinda growing on you. Well, it's one girl now since one of them left. The Kami Band were literal gods on stage and Suzuka aka Su Metal is just the cherry on top. Total Queen on stage and such dominance at such a young age. Rondo Of Nightmare has been one of my fav, if not Babymetal, my fav metal song in general. You can check out the translated lyrics. Lyrically, this is by far the darkest song Babymetal ever produced. It's basically Alice In Wonderland took a dark turn where she is trapped in a recycle of nightmare, hunted by an unknown creature. She finally snapped and had enough of hiding and running. She eventually accepted her fate which is inevitable death and asked the creature to at least reveal itself before it kills her. The original title for this song was called "Kill The Alice". If you want more of this, you should check out other Su Metal solos: Akatsuki Amore No Rain No Rainbow (Metal Ballad) Tamashii No Rufurran (cover) White Love (cover)

⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥 To answer your question, no one in DragonForce is a Kami Band member, although they did sneak BABYMETAL onstage at the Download Festival in 2015 and perform 'Gimme Chocolate!!' together. Shortly after that, DragonForce and BABYMETAL shared the stage at the Golden Gods Awards. They performed 'Road of Resistance'. Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce contributed guitar tracks for the studio version of that song. Glad you liked 'Rondo of Nightmare'. Quite honestly, if you didn't appreciate that one, I would have needed to give up on you. I would second the suggestions for Su's other solo songs such as 'Akatsuki' and 'Amore'.

Babymetal explore a very wide area of music, so actually it's quite normal to like some and not like some in my opinion. I'm thinking that you are more the traditionalist metal listener type, so for the more recent stuffs I'd definitely recommend STARLIGHT (go for the official music video, unless you don't mind fan compilation or audio only). Other tracks I think are down your alley might include: - KAGEROU (the best version is the one in Legend Metal Galaxy concert) - DISTORTION (live at Download Festival 2018) - ARKADIA (only fan compilation or audio only is available in KZfaq). When feeling adventurous, why not check out some of their explorations: SHANTI SHANTI, BxMxC, NIGHT NIGHT BURN, ↑↓←→BBAB, they're quite interesting :).

You will love Akatsuki - it has such hugh X Japan vibes! It's the song that made me have a second and third look at them and the first one I really liked listening to at first listen [I have to admit I have been bias in the beginning because I literally grew up with J-ROCK and VK and when Babymetal appeared it was a bit tiresome to explain to everyone that Babymetal were not the first metal band in Japan and that not all metal in Japan sounded like anime pop ^^']. But now I really enjoy their music - and love them live. But the second album remaines the best by far in my book. It had just the perfect amound of kawaii metal where I really liked the mix and I could swear Awadama Fever can pump blood into a heart of stone - it's the most adorable choreography ever where even if you don't like it AT ALL you have to go slightly "awwwwww" inside you own head or you just might not be human ^^'' Funnily, their heaviest songs are the ones with Yui and Moa only (called Black Babymetal). From them I think Sis Anger might be the one you could like best - but yeah...no Su-metal here ^^' From the new album BxMxC. Clear winner - the album is a lot more dancy - imagine the whole world having a great party, that's how the album sounds like, pop-rock-metal with beats and influences from all around the world.

@@somethingintheblood6012 I've heard that from other 'reactors' too. And frankly I find it very hard to believe. I can see you anticipate the change; totally. But where that change is, and what you should be doing next? Not so much. With Babymetal, you never quite know where they are going next. Maybe it's the fact that I know this that makes it so hard for me to believe that this kind of thing is a genuine reaction. I should probably slow this and other 'reactions' down and really analyse them. But the fact is, I can't be bothered. If you want to say it's just an initial reaction then so be it. Fun Fact: Rondo, in music, an instrumental form characterized by the initial statement and subsequent restatement of a particular melody or section, the various statements of which are separated by contrasting material. The turntable stage has nothing to do with the song really, Rondo in Rondo of nightmare has to do with the musicality of the song.

From things you said, I think you'd enjoy a powerful symphonic Rock solo ballad that Su does, called No Rain, No Rainbow. This version is probably the best, from Dec 2017, at Su's 20th birthday concert in her home town of Hiroshima. Excellent guitar pieces, especially one from the late Mikio Fujioka, who sadly died 3 weeks after it was filmed. That Rondo performance is great, we knew you would like it. There are another awesome performances of the song like this one: streamable.com/b1xu1 that gets instantly blocked in KZfaq, but you can enjoy it for yourself. Their last album is actually divided in those two parts, Light side and Dark side, with the lighter songs on the first half and the darker on the second, but we have a problem with Babymetal newer stuff as nearly everything gets blocked and we can't use their best stuff in KZfaq reactions. A part from the stuff on the official channel, you will find only audio or fanmade compilations of different shows that try to dodge the copyright algorithms, but if I could I would recommend to you to listen to Starlight, Shine and Arkadia from the Metal Galaxy (2019) album. Right now probably the best stuff you can react in KZfaq is the live version of Distortion at Download (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fOCXiJaImsDLqok.html) or if you are into that hiphop + metal thing they launched a new music video for BxMxC some weeks ago (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pM1ooMtnr7utoY0.html). Yes, the song is written as a rondo, although in the strictest definition the chorus/main theme should have been stated first instead of an initial verse. This song is A-C-B-D-C. I'm never quite sure if the "scream" is part of a bridge between verses B & D or should be included as part of a verse. Leaning towards the former. Regardless, it is a brilliant composition.

Good reaction, Su's solo songs are AMAZING!! But you could say that they are fairly "normal" songs missing the "Babymetal spice". My favorite is Akatsuki, you should check it out. The choreo and theatrics are what set Babymetal apart, they are part of their identity. I'm pretty sure that we could have a great band with just Su and the Kamis, but it wouldn't be unique and it would be tough for they to get out of Japan. In today's highly competitive music world, in which great music and technical prowess are in many cases not enough (especially for a Japanese-speaking band), a unique identity comes handy.

Have you heard her collaboration with Bring me the Horizon? It dropped about 10 days ago, song called Kingslayer on BMTHs new EP; also an intro song called Itch for the Cure. Kingslayer really shows how well she can contrast. Babymetal dropped a video a few weeks ago, BxMxC whitch is worth checking. I think you will like Distortion too, there is a good vid of them performing live at Download.

I've seen that suggestion a few times. I haven't heard much Bring Me The Horizon, so I'm pushing that one further down the list. I need to hear a few more of their songs, I think, before I mix the two bands.

I recommend Legend S No Rain No Rainbows, the version that is in her home town. It’s a ballad and she almost cries singing that version because she is at her hometown and the whole Hiroshima history. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pqqXpNJny8nQmY0.html Or this special version with a diferente stile.. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/msmghLySy8nac5s.html

If you like more Kami Band intros, YAVA! has had an intro and also Catch Me if You Can always has an intro (you can check out the compilation by Hitgirl2 or Zimmer official). If you like Su solos, you can check out Akatsuki, Amore, No Rain No Rainbow, and Tamashi no Rafuran. Especially Akatsuki and Amore have a lot of transitions and tempo changes that you enjoy.

There is a solo with of the band without the girls and makeup free .. it is interesting to watch. "BM Kami Band Playing Solo" . I usually don't leave links but any musician should see this in honor of Mikio Fujioka, the tiny giant. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hNVlrbdmxMmbXYk.html . Check out BOH the killer bassist too. He has hours of videos ...

It's always been kind of hit and miss for me with Babymetal. They throw together very different styles and elements. Sometimes it seems to work, other times not so much. I can't say it's one specific style or combination of elements that consistently does it for me, it's pretty random. They are a very experimental band, musically and conceptually. The poppy aspects of what they are doing don't make them any less experimental.
