Miku once said in an interview "I use English words and phrases in my lyrics whenever it sounds and flows better."

At the end of covid lockdown Band Maid finally were able to tour again. they toured the USA in October '22 not knowing if the fans would still be there for them. the shows were all sold out and the enthusiasm and support surprised them. Kanami wrote this song on the tour bus and Miku added the lyrics. the song is 100% written for the fans, particularly the fans showing up to their shows in the US. The use of Japanese and English is to allows fans worldwide to more easily sing along at key parts, chants etc. so it's really for crowd participation that they do this imo. Another stunningly beautiful song written during covid lockdowns and directly for the fans is "About Us" How they miss performing for us and how difficult life became during the lockdown. they intended to play the song for the first time to a live audience at Budokan(Their dream concert) but that event was shut down to the covid. so the Maids did a live stream concert on the canceled date and presented the song with a beautiful speech by Saiki before hand. coming up for Band Maid that has many fans really excited is The Warning first time visit to Japan. Band Maid will welcome the Warning, whom they met at Aftershock Festival in San Francisco and discovered that both bands were fans of each other. I'm hoping for some sort of collab as the Maids and Warning will co headline The Warnings first show in Japan on June 12 New Band Maid album coming late summer. thanks for reacting to the Maids. cheers

I have trouble finding the words explaining how well Band-Maid played Memorable live in Charlotte. The acoustic guitars were so crisp, and the vocal harmonies were angelic and heartfelt. I say this with no pun intended, but it was most Memorable.

About BAND-MAID's lyrics and my personal thoughts as a Japanese person BAND-MAID is naturally a band whose native language is Japanese, and Miku, who writes most of the lyrics, uses English and Japanese, whichever language best suits the melody and beat of the music. When he feels that Japanese is best for melodies and beats and can effectively convey the meaning, he chooses Japanese, and when he feels that English is best, he uses English separately. In addition, Miku and Saiki have said that they consciously use phrases without lyrics that people around the world can sing in singalongs. In fact, Saiki was delighted and surprised when he heard from overseas fans about the effectiveness of the Japanese lyrics, and in an interview he said that he found it interesting and particular about mixing languages and singing in Japanese. talking. However, they don't have any egos; in fact, some of their songs have lyrics only in English, and I think they're just doing their best to deliver good music. Miku, the band's founder, has had "world domination" as her big dream and goal since the beginning, but she feels that changing the lyrics to English in order to succeed overseas or because it's rock music is not the essence of BAND-MAID. Also, I feel that I trust and love the fans who like the music that BAND-MAID does. Japanese people have long had a sense of inferiority in English when it comes to the lyrics of Japanese pop and rock music, and have a history of trial and error. In my personal opinion, I feel that BAND-MAID's lyrics are special and superior, and I don't feel inferior to BAND-MAID. Also, unbelievably, some of BAND-MAID's lyrics are easier for me, as a Japanese person, to hear the English parts of some songs than the Japanese parts. Furthermore, Miku's lyrics use idioms that many Japanese people have difficulty understanding without looking up their meanings. 💦 I'm in my 50s and am seriously studying English after discovering BAND-MAID and watching the comments and reaction videos of BAND-MAID fans around the world. Thanks to BAND-MAID and the fans around the world, I now have the joy of learning. By all means, why not try learning even a few Japanese words through BAND-MAID? I'm sure Mr. Saiki will have fun teaching you. ❤️

Isn't it amazing that five young Japanese women can "melt your face" in one instance and the next "melt your heart". I believe that Band-Maid stated they switch from Japanese to English for the words fit better into the flow of the song and get the English-speaking audience to have a modicum of understanding of the song.

Memorable is in the vein of other great mid-tempo Band-Maid songs like Bestie, Daydreaming, Anemone, About Us, Endless Story, PAGE, Wonderland, Awkward, Start Over, Mirage, At the Drop of a Hat and Smile. I’m so touched that their time in the States inspired the sentiment of Memorable. Kanami actually wrote the song on their touring bus! Thx, Dogman!

*BAND-MAID* like to include English words or phrases since they have a strong fan base in the west and when *BAND-MAID* toured the US in 2022 and 2023 in that time I saw them 8 times and in all the show there was a lot of crowd interaction in a lot of the *BAND-MAID* songs.

Seems you didn't care much about this song that is dedicated to the BAND-MAID fans, though you did say nice things - thank you. As far as the bilingual mix in the lyrics, a lot depends on cadence, the articulation of words and, importantly, the bringing in of listeners who understand English more than Japanese. The language mix works well in all three categories I mentioned. Thank you so much for all your BAND-MAID reactions. It is very much appreciated.

There's at least one interview where Miku said yes, sometimes it just makes more sense to use English because she can use a lot fewer syllables to communicate certain things compared to Japanese. Although I think the main reason overall is just that globally, more people know some English vs. other languages.

Check out these two songs well. It’s very ballad-like and heart-warming. Band-maid/Puzzle (acoustic, live at zepp Tokyo 2018). And Anemone-acoustic live at zepp Tokyo. Good luck 🤘🤘🤘

I always look forward to watching it. Now, as for your question, for Japanese people, Western music rock is close to a kind of cosplay. (There are real JAZZ and movie music, etc. that sound like that kind of JAZZ. It may be surprisingly close to this.) Due to the pronunciation, the same singing method cannot be used. However, because the language systems are so different, we are not good at English (although we do understand it pretty well). Please pay attention here. ``Although we are not familiar with the English linguistic system, we do have a general understanding of it.'' This is the point of the lyrics when a Japanese person wants to play Western rock music, and this is how it is designed for Japanese listeners.

There is another interesting point. (Japanese people generally understand English, but not completely) The above points are the same when we listen to songs by Western rock musicians. In other words, the way English-speaking people listen to BANDMAID's songs mixed with Japanese is probably the same way we feel when we listen to Western rock music. What should I say? Japanese musicians' English-mixed lyrics are a reproduction of Western rock music. (That's how it sounds to Japanese ears.)

I'd incorporate a ham sandwich in my lyrics if it improved the song by: making it more fun to sing-a-long in non-Japanese speaking countries, made good or better sense to support the story, was a practice done for decades in Japanese lyrics, sounded better phonetically than the native comparison, and like you said, Dogman, fit the cadence and phrasing better. 🤘🏻😉

I can. Answer that question Po It's because miku wants world domination in an order for that. To happen english is a very pronounced language. That's why there's a lot of english and band maid songs. World domination po! N i speck pigeon po

Band-Maid is not a heavy metal band, It’s a hard-rock and pop-rock band!

Band-Maid is NOT a heavy metal band....more like Hard Rock. This is another love letter to their fans, mostly the American fans from their October 2022 tour. "About Us" is another love song to their fans and that one was for ALL their fans world wide during the Plandemic when the globalists brought the world to a halt and trapped us all, and one to be checked out as well.
