So what position Angelina gets in AGT is basically not that important, as long as you know about this unique artist with "a thousand vocal voices" AGT has also removed her main video which received 10 million hits in a few days. It certainly has some with contract and rights to do. Angelina surely wants creative freedom and so on .. Angelina refused to agree to the binding agreements in AGT, but I think they were aware of this, but still wanted her to attend to bring as many viewers as possible. A big part of that is because she hasn't had much international exposure until she sang in America's Got Talent. Although Angelina killed this song, I'm not a big fan of the song itself. It doesn't really challenge Angelina's vocal skills, but the rewrite of the lyrics as astounding. The day before this recording, Angelina was planning to sing the original lyrics, but Mom saw them she told her that she had to change the lyrics to something more appropriate for a 10 yo. She finished on the limo drive to the studio, less than 24 hours later. Norway's TV 2 was filming a short documentary about Angelina, so you can see her shuffling the papers in the limo. She walks in the studio, kicks off her sneakers & starts to sing reading the new lyrics for the first time. Talk about pressure. I doubt there are many singer/songwriters that could do that & I'm sure there are no other 10 year olds that could do it. For your next reaction I recommend her performance in the finals of AGT-C where she covers Sara Bareilles' version of Elton John's iconic song Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. My initial reaction to this performance was not especially positive. Her voice in it is 100% wonderful, of course, but I felt like she could have varied the melody a bit in the opening verses to make them more interesting (the original song is also rather monotone, but Amy plays with the notes a little more than Angelina does here, so it's not quite as "tedious" to listen to). My estimation of it rose quite a bit when I discovered that she didn't just rewrite "the problematic parts" of the song, she rewrote the *entire* thing from scratch. (It had been a while since I heard Amy's original, so I didn't recognize that _every single line_ in the song is different.) That being said, though, I still don't like the fact that she used "cry" four times in the first six lines (and at the ends of the lines in three of those four instances), as that contributes to the "tedium" factor that I was talking about before. On the other end of the scale, though: I absolutely _love_ the chorus ("I'm the one who speaks to the moon…") and the… well, I suppose it would be the bridge, where she sings "I fall back and laugh, laugh, laugh, laugh…". That's another thing I didn't catch the first couple of times I heard the song. I could see that her mouth didn't seem to be saying "black", but I didn't figure out that it was "laugh" until I looked up the lyrics. Now that part of the song seems kinda creepy. I love it. So, in summary, it's not a song I like to listen to regularly, but I can respect it as a somewhat flawed but nonetheless impressive early example of her songwriting skills (and her "Amy voice").
