This was just such an experience.
Pink Floyd masters art on so many levels, and this performance was one great example of that.
A full expression of the story they want to tell us, so well done!!

Yeah it is a masterpiece from start to finish. I was heavily pregnant and very poor when they were touring with this concert and I was so close to going but at the time I felt I couldn’t justify the cost with a baby on the way. Looking back, I should have just gone anyway. Someone would have lent me the money. Hindsight eh 🙄

@@richardkafka5625 HaHaHa....... his playing is a lot more complicated than you might think. The simple notes are often easy..... most players can NOT find his feel and will never capture his tone. Still the easy but..... then there is killing the strings you do not want to hear and letting the others ring out. He plays with the articulate skills of a classical master..... not a fast fingered pretender with little MUSICAL skill or taste.

True story this. I suffered from depression a few years back. I was in a low place and I felt nothing for what felts like months, I felt dead inside. Driving home from work one evening during summer, the weather was lovely and this song was playing. I started to remember my childhood in the English countryside with the sound of grass being mowed and bees flying around, I then started to remember summertime smells and sounds from my childhood and burst into tears. I felt emotion for the first time in ages and the fog had gone. The song always takes me back to my childhood and now gives me that warm feeling that a good childhood can provide your whole life as long as you remember to feel it. I also saw this live at earls Court when these shows were recorded and it changed my life 😊

I was lucky enough to hear Pink Floyd once, on the Division Bell tour in 1994. They didn't come to my city, so my family and I drove 4 hours to Kansas City to Arrowhead Stadium. This was one of the songs they played, but naturally the high point was 'Comfortably Numb' live, and one of the high points of my life.

a truly amazing song. the arrangement and construction of this song is so intricate and yet it speaks to you on a very basic and primal level. and what makes this song work so well is the emotions it brings out in the listener. there's nostalgia and tension and melancholy. it really digs deep to scratch at the soul. and it played so masterfully. just wonderful stuff.

I close my eyes during this solo, the tears well up, and I long for simpler times of my childhood. Sabina, you're definitely not the only one! From day 1, when this song came out, I got goosebumps hearing it. Then introduced it to my mom, and she felt/reacted the same. It's got so much emotion, between the lyrics and the incredible music! My wife...yup, same. When my mom passed inn 2018, this song was part of her 'funeral' playlist, she loved it that much - actually several Pink Floyd songs were (Shine On You Crazy Diamond was another). So now, because of that emotion and association, I can't help but cry a little...along with the goosebumps. RIP mom...

Gilmore is a guitar god. And if you loved this, you must watch the Pulse Version of Comfortably Numb as well. The song is great, but the Pulse Live Performance with the light show and everything is still another level. Knowing a little about David Gilmour's personal life, the lyrics of some of his compositions such as "On the turning away" are much better understood and then you realize that it is not verbiage but that he wrote it with his heart. Among many other actions, In 2003 he sold his house in Little Venice and donated the proceeds of £3.6 million to the Crisis Foundation to help finance a housing project for the homeless. In 2019 he auctioned off 120 guitars, including the famous Black Strat and a selection of Fender Broadcasters, Esquires, Telecasters and Stratocasters for charity. Other charities Gilmour has supported include Oxfam, the European Union Association for Mental Health and Illness, Greenpeace, Amnesty International, The Lung Foundation, Nordoff-Robbins, Teenage Cancer Trust and PETA. What else can be said about this man? He is a guitar god and an incredible human being. It is comforting that there are still people who care about the well-being of others. Sir David Gilmour you have my full respect and admiration forever!

Nothing quite like a live Pink Floyd show. I’m grateful to have seen them a couple of times. Hope to see you react to more Floyd in the future. One word of advice, most of their albums particularly those when Roger Waters was still with them, are really meant to be listened to straight through in their entirety. Something to consider when selecting songs. I love Dark Side, The Wall, and Animals, along with nearly everything they’ve done. Nobody emotes through six strings like David Gilmour.

Even though the DVD was issued as Pulse, the tour was known as The Division Bell tour to coincide with the release of the album of which this song is its defining masterpiece. It is a beautiful but haunting song that captures the hopes and dreams of youth but sadly reality catches up. From a musician's point of view the timing is a nightmare with the bell and the interplaying of the keyboard having to be absolutely right. It's difficult enough in the studio but to do it live is really something and Jon Carlin on keyboards and Gary Wallis on percussion pull it off brilliantly. I was there on one of those evenings at Earls Court and in over 45 years of going to gigs I have never witnessed a better show before or since.

I worked on this tour in 1994. We were 600 technicians to build the satge. 55 trucks on the road. 4 stages already build and ready all over the world, then we would add all the equipments.

My favorite part of watching people reacting to High Hopes is when they cry :') it reminds me of the first time I listen Pink Floyd's songs like this one, Shine on you crazy diamond and Wish you were here. Real magic.

Love your reaction.... The feeling you get and listening to the lyricsm from Pink Floyd songs and music is only The Pink Floyd Experience. Once you have been encapsulated by one of the songs you long to discover more about this band and music. I have seen Pink Floyds songs and music hook and draw in the most unlikely listener. If one of their songs touches you and emotional way , you have experienced what all Pink Floyd fans have experienced. Love to see your reaction to " Sorrow, Time and a heap of other Pink Floyd songs". 👍👍👍👍👍

Great reaction, spot on with your written thoughts all the way through and your spoken thoughts. Gilmour is a master of building up atmosphere, drama and emotion. The slow build up to the refrain, the gentle acoustic to the pedal slide guitar amping up the drama, and after the intensity of the electric solo, the winding down again is pure genius. I had the privilege of seeing Gilmour twice on his last tour do High Hopes, and it made me tingle and melt both times. Its the best Pink Floyd song certainly in the post Waters PF era, and probably top 5 piece of Floyd music overall (that's a tough list to make). An absolute emotional masterpiece with profound lyrics.

Great song. I’ve loved it for 25 years. The most amazing thing about Pink Floyd is they produce a live sound that most couldn’t achieve in a studio !

9:55 ....awe look at that face. She's feeling the emotion in that solo. My ex-wife and i saw this show in Cleveland May 1994 while she 8 1/2 months pregnant. Our youngest was born in June and to this day he claims that the reason he loves rock and roll and loves playing guitar is because he was also at the show. It was spectacular! What I love about these reaction channels is that basically I get to hear all this great music that I've loved for decades for the first time again vicariously through the reactor. Thank you!

If you do Love Pink Floys as my wife and I do, Brit Floyd should be on your short list. We have seen them 6 or 7 times. Every time I see them I cry during the song Comfortably Numb. You will be shocked how close they have been able to create a Pink Floyd type of experience. They have one singer that does Roger Waters and another who does David Gilmour parts, It is exhausting to listen to their music because it takes you all over the place in your heart, thoughts and mind. BOOM!!!! Gods Blessing to you always! Jeff

That's one of my favorite songs ever. The Division Bell came out in the spring. That following summer my friend had access to a cabin by a lake. We partied there all summer. This was always the last song we played at each party in the wee hours. There's a bunch of us that still get together every few years and we always talk about that summer and this song and the memories that are tied to it. It almost makes me want to cry the memories are so pure.

I'm wanting to express that; when the Division Bell album came out, it arose an anger within me; almost as if PF was snubbing their nose at me; yes I took it personally; and it's taken all these years since to realize the maturity one experiences with the music of Division Bell; then it felt like a permanent departure from what masses of people believed; that the old stylings of PF were being vanquished by their very selves; it's just that life goes on with experiencing 'High Hopes':)

First of all, thank you very much for this reaction video.Unfortunately I am much too young to have had the opportunity to get to know Pink Floyd live. However, I know all albums and live videos through my grandparents.Since then, this band has been one of my two absolute favorite bands. And that brings us exactly to 'High Hopes'.Now it shouldn't be hard to guess who my other favorite band is... of course Nightwish! As completely different as both versions are, they are both a real work of art. With High Hopes David has written another song that is so beautiful and Tuomas has managed to bring a real tribute to the stage. With your reaction, you really made me happy. Thank you

Yes, it has been a Spiritual experience for me since stumbling onto Ummagumma in 1969. From it try The Narrow Way from the studio half and Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun. These guys were so far advanced from everyone else, they helped invent much of the curve, never mind being ahead of it. Greatest of all bands, very few are anywhere near their level. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎷🎹🎶
