Great bit. It's hard for me to pick a favorite though. Doug's got so much awesome material(though I wish he'd release something new. I believe he's already recorded something, just waiting for him to release it) Doug, Norm Macdonald and Patrice O'Neil are my top 3.

Don't let this turn you off Stanhope. This is the only one of his bits that's hard to watch like this. The one requested below about his mother dying is amazing.

Holy shit, I love that one of you laughed(and probably a laugh for the camera), and the other seemed horrified, pretty much all the way through. Watch the story about him being there for his mother passing away. It’s the darkest thing I’ve ever laughed at, and it’s worth it.

Saw him on tour working on this set before recording the special. It was equally hilarious, but I remember it being even worse in Indianapolis than what he put on tape.

The point of this bit was to take a hack premise and use his skills to make it into a real comedic piece in his own brutal not-giving-a-fuck style. Doug is insanely talented and uncompromising.

Hit the nail right on the head!! Been a huge Stanhope fan for about four years now and this was the first bit I ever saw from him, and it’s still my favorite along with his bit about Judaism. There is sooo much genius in this bit!!

Doug is so brilliant at weaving a narrative that often goes right over some people’s heads because they fixate on part of the narrative and fail to see the entire narrative. Much like not being able to see the forest for the trees. In this particular bit, people are shocked by the homoerotic fantasy rape, but often fail to see how it weaves itself into the larger narrative of the corporatization of charity by the NFL, the hyper masculinity of American football players and the “bros” who watch it, alongside the intertwined latent homosexuality and homophobia duality of football. It’s so brilliantly done and yet so misunderstood.

I remember watching this netflix special and thinking HOLY FUCK HOW DID WE GET HERE?! I rewound the bit several times and was still confused, but I was dying in my chair 🤣🤣🤣 FYI on the suit, the word is that Doug likes to go to wherever he is performing, buys the cheapest suit from the nearest thrift store, and wears it for the show. His little "fuck you" to insane wardrobe budgets for, of all people, stand-up comedians.

Stanhope typically operates in two “modes”: 1) Criticism of societal and political stupidity and 2) “Gross-out”. This is his “gross-out” mode ‘turned up to 11’. The most extreme. Hilarious if you can stomach it, although I prefer his “critical” mode.

He actually took Ralphie off his death pool one time and Ralphie was (in a good natured way) pissed and made Doug put him back on. After Ralphie passed, Doug tweeted, "You know I never wanted those points." No matter how crass Doug can occasionally be, he's a great person.

Seriously a wrong move to watch that so soon.... Y'all should make "Green Room" reactions of comedians in groups having conversations, they're great
