I show strong narcissitic traits as does my mother. Last night I was in a rough spot and in crisis and she acted like a real mother for the first time in forever and took care of me. This worth more than months of therapy. Even for a moment it made me smile

One thing i heard that stuck with me, "it is very difficult to be alienated, if you are involved in the child's life". I take him to every sports game, give him routine, we read afterschool every day, tell him mom and dad both love him, i have him in counselling. I am not perfect, i get tired. He has unloaded on me, but not in a long time

My ex (who ticks almost every box for introverted narcissism) tried very hard to cancel mediation before it started (claiming we had no child care arranged), then did cancel it after one session, claiming our court-appointed mediator was “biased”. The mediator later told me (when I saw her after the court process) that my ex was probably a combination of BPD, NPD and ASD and that - just as Dr Malikin says here - I should give up any idea of co-parenting. My ex is a she. Not all narcissists are male. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if there are more female introverted narcissists than male.

I hope you talk about how parents can cope who have grown sons and daughters that are narcissists. It is heartbreaking bordering on abusive. I could never speak to someone the way my grown son speaks to me. He is so sarcastic, hateful and offensive. He loves to treat me like I'm not smart enough to understand him. He is 38 years old.

Thank you so much. I really needed this. I've been thinking the same that even if a small child shows narcissistic traits, it's still possible to help them grown up emotionally healthy through talking about feelings and why they feel those feelings, what's going on in their lives. I do exactly what you say, parallel parenting is hard. But it's great reassurance to hear that I'm on the right track, and hope my child with narcissistic traits has a good chance of growing up not narcissistic as his father. I really believe it will work as I have already seen big changes in my son.

Thank you so much. You really understand and offer helpful advice. You are right, it is very difficult to take on the brunt because my kids are more comfortable in my household to let our their true feelings. I do feel like it's because they feel safe here and I have seen and heard how they walk on eggshells around their narc dad. They have been programmed to just agree with his abuse because otherwise they get punished. Sometimes it's so hard to feel like you're doing your best when you can't help your child after they complain to you about what's bothering them with the narc parent. I am following the plan of being the stable, listener who allows them to safely express themselves and providing as normal of a life when they are in my care. Seems to be helping them cope. I can't imagine how horrible their lives would be if all they had was narc parents.

Mr. I have a 4 year old boy, mom is a malignant narc, my son to her is a pawn, she lies over lies over lies. Example I live of my life they she played me was similar to the movie GONE GIRL WITH BEN AFLECK, she discarded me as soon as she stepped in American soil, by faking the victim at family court, first time around accused me of rape, that got dismissed, took her 5 months to do it again, I was so naive and didn't think she would capable of doing it again, so she stays with me because she needed me in order for her to secure a green card through VAWA, I'm thinking she's got a postpartum depression baby's is 10 months or a year old when she first does her first unsuccessful move, second time around gets flying monkeys, gets neighbors involved, starts screaming without any reason, yelling at me making her act, to alert the neighbors to call the police, she's threatening me making me feel like if I was crazy, "YOUR NOT GOING TO SLEEP IN THIS BED HERE TONIGHT, YOU WANT TO KNOW IF IM CRAZY" goes running to the living room from the bedroom, I'm carrying my son telling her to calm down what was going on with her, I take the phone cordeles phone, she yanks it out of my hand hurts our baby, twice, (what she did to the baby accused me of doing to him) she couldn't stop her plan from Getting ruined reason why she didn't want to go to the hospital with the hurt child. Since that day PTSD was my diagnosis may 2014 on the day of my birthday, she told my brother she was going to do it 6 days before, and reassured it that night when my mom bailed me out of jail to get my clothes, she said again, see I told you I was going to do it laughing. Since then when I was granted unsupervised visits (the monitors said I didn't need supervised visits) my child never wants to go back to her, bumps bruises, dog bites, burns, mommy pushed me and I fell and hurt my knees and my forehead, mommy boyfriend twisted my arm and through me on the bed, mommy locked me in my room because boyfriend was home, and I was crying a lot and got hurt, mommy left me alone in the house and someone was knocking on the door very hard and I got afraid and ran to the room and hid under moms bed, and hurt my pinky toe right foot (turns out it was broken mom unaware) I have been making police reports, medical records, pictures, and videos, hoping to get my son out of that demon cuz how could a person deliberately hurt her son and lie about it, he hides under my table gets anxious, disoriented when it's time to take him to mom on Sunday nights, I see him every other weekend, and the pediatrician reported that the baby is being psychologically abused, emotionally abused, and child protection services still can't figure out who's harming my child, it's evident, why he's afraid of her, it seems as if it's women's protection services nothing is going on with the child. Please pluralize when you refer to this topic this mom is diabolical, at this stage back in court and waiting to get everyone evaluated, all three of us, I have only love and care for my son, I want him to grow healthy but I fear if he stays with her he might turn out like her, a pure psycho, I hope that if I get full custody I can help him get over it and giving him all the nurture he need to be strong and resilience with affection and lots of love... would the evaluation bring out her disorder? What can I direct the courts to do if they can't catch her ? It's frustrating

2 red flags I've heard on this channel so far: appears to be critical of Trump, and seems to focus on women being the victims of men. Both are related in my opinion. Lots of other good channels on YT regarding understanding NPD

People claim that Narcissists are created by Narcissistic parenting. You yourself seem to be leaning in that direction. Why are YOU not a Narcissist having lacked the necessary parenting ingredients and good mothering? Personally, I think the lack of Narcissism speaks more about the temperment the child was born with, than it does about the circumstances in which the child was raised. In fact, I would even go further to say that if you did a study, there would be more Narcissists from families where the Mother was loving, supportive, attentive and Empathetic. I believe Hitler had a Mother who was kind, loving, attentive, protective and Empathetic. So WHAT HAPPENED? Is the path to HELL paved with Love and good intentions? And what about the most famous Narcissist in history: Lucifer turned Satan. How could a loving God, screw up so bad as to unleash evil on the world?

Smothering a child (and they believe this is loving a child) is a form of abuse and an ingredient to make a narc.

@@jp5419 A loving, supportive, attentive and empathetic parent does not create Narcissism. A child who feels shamed, inadequate, fearful and insecure creates Narcissism. You don't need a parent to provide these ingredients. These ingredients are provided by: Learning disabilities Critical impatient Teachers Jealous critical Peers Bullying The child's own ultra sensitive temperment
